  • why would you buy an 800 dollar stabilizer for a your HF10? at least a Canon high end DSLR would make sense, yes?

  • Difficult to use

  • Difficult to use

  • im confuesed... last time i checked this was 79 dollars now it is 799 dollars, did i misread the first time what is the price?

  • @Theninjalemon it is $800.

  • @Theninjalemon said the consumer who doesn't seriously make movies that make money. this is mainly for professionals who make money, patient ones too. this takes getting used to, adjusting the weights and blah blah blah.

  • Nice vid, thankyou

  • haha i know dan. great guy.

  • "You can move back and foward"...SMASH!!!!!.....LOL

  • Very cool result!

  • great review bro. better than many others out there.

  • Good review :) How much was it?

  • sorry i had to... good review by the way

  • whats a wok?.....

Somfing you use to kill a wabbit when you don't have a wifle

  • kripke?

  • $800 is a lot for the results you actually come away with. I can get easily comparable shots using my Cam Caddie going for $38 on Amazon and it can hold lights and mics and a monitor if need be.

  • gwavity/gravity, hew/here , gwip/grip, camewa/camera, white/right, cowwespond/correspond, confiuwate/configurate. cool accent!

  • "You can move back and forth" *Breaks Glass*

    " Oh sh-!"

  • sorry, but you should first be aware of how to behave with that poor steadicam. watch out the folding clipper in your video. you forgot to put the lock handle off while you were opening that thing.

  • I have a Merlin for sale like new $625

  • What ah you doing theyuh Wheezy Whatoh?

  • number h?

  • that is so fuckin tight

  • be vewy quiet we'a hunting Wabbits - .....

  • @rentatrip1 i thought the exact same joke rofl.

  • the best part is the 5:03 LOL thumb up if u laugh !!

  • "Expensive"? Really? Have you priced other camera stabilization devices? $800 is CHEAP!

  • You are braking it man check the small clip safe in the middle it is bend

  • You are braking it man check the small safe in the middle

  • $900 for something that may costs $100

  • cool but waaaaay too expensive

  • number H.

  • oh man u fucked up at 3:03 u messed up the little lock shit at the hinge:S

  • the center of the dove tail is number h?

  • Please give me an advise: I have hv40+WD+Rode and yesterday got Merlin. It looks like mine is constantly bouncing to sides very slightly. is it OK? I just use it with one hand and it feels like it slightly moves as a swing. Very tired as this is my best result after 6 hrs of play :)

  • Bwacket, camewa, Impowtant I guess R is a twicky letter

  • Fantastic review. I've been in the market for a $2000-range stabilizer system, and recently bought the Merlin with the arm and vest. It really works great!

  • How much this

  • How many

  • any chance someone have the setting for canon 7d with a 16-35mm

  • Why spend 800$ on a Merlin for a vixia camera? hauge mmc and Indiehardware stedicam would have got you the same look and saved hundreds of dollars.

  • Can This Handle A Canon 7D?

  • its m night shamalan lol luv the vid great job

  • Great video..

may I ask how would you zoom in and out or play with the focus nob without throwing the camera off balance or record a sharp shake? is it even possible to do anything else other than steady video?

    thanks for your time..

  • Tiffen has outdone theirself with this one. A bubble level on the top and a good Dovetail at this price range? Those features don't come off the shelf on even some bigger rigs!

  • the video took ages to buffer (not your fault) but the majority of what i was waiting to buffer, was you stating the obvious, umming & urring and constantly pausing. I think you should use a script next time. A script defiantly gives a more professional impression.

  • Be vewey vewey quiet... I'm hunting wabbits!

  • Do you mind telling me the settings for the canon hfs 10 ? Thanks

  • @dsryan64 Default I guess...

    kp

  • @kpappletech there is no such thing as "default"

  • @scir91

He means out-of-the-box type settings. Which are the default settings, also when pushing reset to the default in the main menu, it resets back to factory setting.

  • sorry i meant merlin settings for the canon hfs 10

  • 5:00 5:10 could have been a moment for failblog right there!

  • super nerd

  • fantastic review i am from Recife in Brazil south america, and i also got a merlin one and also a HD 1000 glidecam

  • Thanks man .

  • 2:40 i didt know the h is a number

  • @barirdeeee2 i was just about to say the same thing LOL

  • @uhhchriswho but i was bi4 u

  • Thanks man. That's cool. So you said something about the wind, is this thing really usable outdoors or its totally useless even with very slight wind.

  • You can use it outside, but you must be adept at controlling the effects the wind has on the Steadicam. You want to grasp the gimbal with your index finger, and hold the base of it with your thumb, and you can counter-act the forces of the wind with your resistance.

    kp

  • Thank you for your reply. Here in Hawaii we don't have the option of going to a good video store. Will search for the programs you told me about. I have Final Cut Express which I am sure is not as powerful as Final Cut Pro.

    Thank you

  • Sure, anytime.

If your looking to learn how to edit with After Effects, go to VideoCopilot (just Google it). Don't question it. It's the heaven of After Effects training and content filled tutorials.

    kp

  • Great video on the Merlin.

What editing and special Fx programs did you use?

  • For this video I used Final Cut Studio (Final Cut Pro and Motion). I use After Effects also.

    kp

  • ah dude that was hilarious when you whacked the mirror!!! Still laughing. great vid btw and thanks a bunch.

  • I really need one of those tirpods and I would like to know where I can pick one up.

  • i would need to use the other weights cause my ones higher end

    YEH HUN !!!!

  • how do you compress video from the hf s10 to get the best results on youtube?

  • I use Final Cut Studio.

Simply put, I edit in Final Cut Pro, the export to Compressor and use the YouTube Sharing preset.

    kp

  • kp....could you send me the setup for merlin and canon hfs10. it has been a frustrating 2 days for me. your the best.

  • Ok, I took some shots and they are posted at my bulletin section of my YouTube page.

    kp

  • 5:03 hahahah opps hit the glwass there

  • The Hague MMC does the same for US$114

  • hi kappletech, this video is excellent. i have the canon vixia and you have convinced me to buy the steadicam of which i just have. delivery is tomorrow...cant wait! can you share the configurations? that way i can get filming straight out of the box..! keep the videos coming...

  • Sure, I'll take photos of my setup and send the lengths and upload it to yousendit.

I'll PM you with the link, I'm quite busy so I won't be able to do it immediately.

    kp

  • Sorry I haven't posted the pics yet, but I'll be posting the pics tomorrow via yousendit and I'll PM you the link. If you have any updates, just PM me.

    kp

  • Hey KP - I'm actually in the same boat. Maybe if you post these pics publicly on your blog? That way it could be a huge help to others because I know I'm not the only one in the same boat :)

  • Sorry for the many delay's. I will announce the 'why' behind the vid delays soon, and the lack of high quality Steadicam pictures.

I'll post them soon. I'm recovering from food poisoning, so I'm taking it easy for now.

    kp

  • man i got dizzy, but this is an great review, how much did you get it for?

  • It's sooooo cool! I own a Merlin and an HF s10 but I din't achieve the perfect result you show here! Please send me your setup! :) (read my PM)

  • Don't worry, I'm getting to your PM.

    :)

    kp

  • Can't wait to see some flying footage. I had a Glidecam but that went back.

  • dude, that's like a perfect movement for a second it looked so fake because your hand was moving and the steadycam was in place, nice camera accessorie.

  • number H?

  • great video i think it would be cool to see you do some shots with the webbie on the merlin ,I've been curious how lighter cameras would look on the merlin.Well great review keep it up.

  • thats cool

  • Hey. I just bought the exact same setup and am looking for the correct settings, do you mind sharing?

  • Sure, PM me, and I'll send the settings as soon as I can.

  • How much does it cost?

  • 799.99

    kp

  • 799,99 $ or pounds? It's really expensive anyways! I bet it costs them like 4 dollars to make it xD

  • Dollars.

    kp

  • ...."Number H"

    lmao

  • Yeah, I know, but the reference manual did refer to each intersection on the dovetail plate as #A, #B, #C...
