@Theninjalemon said the consumer who doesn't seriously make movies that make money. this is mainly for professionals who make money, patient ones too. this takes getting used to, adjusting the weights and blah blah blah.
$800 is a lot for the results you actually come away with. I can get easily comparable shots using my Cam Caddie going for $38 on Amazon and it can hold lights and mics and a monitor if need be.
sorry, but you should first be aware of how to behave with that poor steadicam. watch out the folding clipper in your video. you forgot to put the lock handle off while you were opening that thing.
i have a webcam if u can i show u my videocamera and how to balnce on it , ok? muranodj@hotmail.it on messenger or gianluca_murano2001@yahoo.com on yahoo , plz . Answer me thx .
Please give me an advise: I have hv40+WD+Rode and yesterday got Merlin. It looks like mine is constantly bouncing to sides very slightly. is it OK? I just use it with one hand and it feels like it slightly moves as a swing. Very tired as this is my best result after 6 hrs of play :)
Fantastic review. I've been in the market for a $2000-range stabilizer system, and recently bought the Merlin with the arm and vest. It really works great!
may I ask how would you zoom in and out or play with the focus nob without throwing the camera off balance or record a sharp shake? is it even possible to do anything else other than steady video?
Tiffen has outdone theirself with this one. A bubble level on the top and a good Dovetail at this price range? Those features don't come off the shelf on even some bigger rigs!
the video took ages to buffer (not your fault) but the majority of what i was waiting to buffer, was you stating the obvious, umming & urring and constantly pausing. I think you should use a script next time. A script defiantly gives a more professional impression.
He means out-of-the-box type settings. Which are the default settings, also when pushing reset to the default in the main menu, it resets back to factory setting.
Thanks man. That's cool. So you said something about the wind, is this thing really usable outdoors or its totally useless even with very slight wind.
You can use it outside, but you must be adept at controlling the effects the wind has on the Steadicam. You want to grasp the gimbal with your index finger, and hold the base of it with your thumb, and you can counter-act the forces of the wind with your resistance.
Thank you for your reply. Here in Hawaii we don't have the option of going to a good video store. Will search for the programs you told me about. I have Final Cut Express which I am sure is not as powerful as Final Cut Pro.
If your looking to learn how to edit with After Effects, go to VideoCopilot (just Google it). Don't question it. It's the heaven of After Effects training and content filled tutorials.
hi kappletech, this video is excellent. i have the canon vixia and you have convinced me to buy the steadicam of which i just have. delivery is tomorrow...cant wait! can you share the configurations? that way i can get filming straight out of the box..! keep the videos coming...

Hey KP - I'm actually in the same boat. Maybe if you post these pics publicly on your blog? That way it could be a huge help to others because I know I'm not the only one in the same boat :)
dude, that's like a perfect movement for a second it looked so fake because your hand was moving and the steadycam was in place, nice camera accessorie.
great video i think it would be cool to see you do some shots with the webbie on the merlin ,I've been curious how lighter cameras would look on the merlin.Well great review keep it up.
