  • Merci Monsieur !

  • Mozart +Christoff reaches parts that other music does not reach

  • look at the message I send you, I will explain myself more clearly, I hope ^^

  • what do you mean by "that part of Germany"?

  • Beautiful. He comes very close to Mihály Székely.

  • Is it because you are Hungarian?

  • my name is osmin lol

  • to WhiteProfondo: sorry, but deutschland is not "über alles"!... you have not the slightest idea of singing, so go back to your NPD and be happy!!!

  • Excuse me? Do you know anything of German music - see the operas? Not everyones favourite, but quite respectable? Bach? Hildegard Behrens is a bad singer? Herman Prey? Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau? Oooh, but yeah, of course, we don't have good singers. Calm down! And besides, we are no Nazi's! I don't know anything about your argument with WhiteProfondo, perhabs it is justified, but don't just lump all germans together, if you don't know anything!

  • I know A LOT about german music and german musicians. BACH is not respectable, BUT THE GENIUS OF MUSIC. Prey and Dieskau are mediocre. Wunderlich is very good. Speaking of Osmin: MOLL and RYDL and FRICK are great - references to this part! I did not jump ar germans generally and I DID NOT USED THE WORD "NAZI"! .... but I recomand you to be a foreigner (Ausländer) and to live for some years in Germany - than you will see what this is all about, ok?

  • Well, yes, you didn't use the word Nazi but by recommending someone to go back to the NPD you entitle him or her as a Nazi. Nevertheless, you are right about all the great names you've mentioned. I cannot recall Germans being particularly mean to foreigners except for the hitler reign and some exception. There are always some stupid people who occupy the country, but it is always a very small crowd (like some racist guys which you can find in EVERY country, not just in Germany).

  • NPD is not NAZI but Neo-Nazi which means germans have not learned from their history. NPD is not a small crowd, but a "legal" party sitting in some local parliaments is Germany.... tolerated by the federal government, altough they broke the German Consitution manny times. The german federal government does not really want to delete these ultra-right movements from public life, otherwise it could have done it many years ago.

  • We use to call it democracy. Freedom of speach, you know. I mean, its not like they would reign the country..

  • They partly reign some Bundesländer since they are in the local parlaments. And this is not democracy coz everything connected to Hitler (like swastika etc.) is forbidden by law in Germany but they still use it and nobody punished them for that.

  • @brodsky96

What do you mean "Bach is not respectable?" That's one of the stupidest statements I've seen in a long time. Bach is positively revered around the world--only Mozart is more highly-esteemed among classical music lovers.

  • I said: Bach is not "respectable", BUT THE GENIUS OF MUSIC...ok?

  • @brodsky96

It must be a language barrier issue--perhaps the word "respectable" doesn't mean in English what you think it means. How is Bach not "respectable," in your estimation?

  • "respectable" in connection with BACH is much too weak, pale and noneloquent.... "respectable" for me is "medium"... like not genial, not fantastic, not outstanding... but something like "its ok", and not more....for me BACH is the superlative of superlatives... as MOZART is....

  • @brodsky96 you and Boris don't seem to have an argument but just a misunderstanding do we have Christoff singing any Bach?

  • we have a GREAT MOLL... we have FRICK.... we have TALVELA, Rydl.... and maybe a handfull more outstanding Osmins.... but we also have CHRISTOFF - and according to the universal principle of diversity, according to the laws of optics there are more colours in the universe than black and white - THANKS GOD!

  • ... even Osmin is entitled to have a moment of melacholical reflection and passion.... he is an old man and a silly eunuch... his job of guardian of the Sarail made him droll, bizzare and odd... one of the ironical traces of his being is to guard a "treasure" he never would be able ot possess... sure: on the surface there is this silly old man... but even this silly old man has certain images in his soul... and THAT is what only CHRISTOFF is able to express...

  • If he would be an eunuch, he'd NOT be a basso profondo...

Otherwise, yes. Osmin is neither an old buffo nor a vilain. He's just threatening, pretending to be strict and evil, but does he ever really harm anyone?

  • WhiteProfondo;

Perhaps It's time for you to learn music and understand what is a voice...

  • Very bad, all vocals goes behind in the neck and are formed often simply wrong!

  • Mi piace quando i wagneriani e i verdiani cantano arie di Mozart. Vuol dire che a quel tempo si conosceva questo genio della musica.

  • I LOVE this aria! And Christoff sings it with so much line and expression. His top is great, too.

  • This little aria has no real high notes. It just goes up to a D.

Christoff, as I'm sure you must know, had a fabulous top. He's just about the only bass who really sings the High G's in the Mephisto seranade.

This aria is very, very easy. Christoff doesn't break a sweat on it.

  • just cause the notes are easy dont make the aria easy, what about the expression.

  • Strange argument!

Mozart wrote incredibly difficult arias like "Popoli di Tessaglia" for his relative who had the high notes (G above high C). He wrote the whole part of part of Cherubino for Mrs. Busani who had no high notes.

Francsco Morella couldn't sing all those fast little notes in "Il Mio Tesoro" so Mozart wrote "Dalla Sua Pace" for him.

Osmin was written for Ludwig Fischer. The big aria "Oh Wie Will Ich Triumphieren" is very difficult. This aria is easy.

  • I see what what you mean, yeah, Oh Wie Will Ich Triumphieren has that low D and the fast pace. But just as it requires a profound sence of humor, this aria needs its profound passion and sadness. Any monkey can hit a low or high note, but to touch the listeners heart, is another matter altogether.

  • This is a comic aria. Its "passion an sadness" are mock emotions. All the characters in the opera are noble and high minded except Osmin. He is the butt of the jokes. He rages, he bellows, he preaches. You are not suppose to take him seriosly. You are suppose to laught at his outsized emotions.

    Any monkey?
