There were no aliens "popping" out of anyone in the original War Of The Worlds. Are you confusing this film with the original "Body Snatchers"? In that movie, "pods" were put close to a sleeping person, and a body would "pop" out and become that person. Gene Barry was in the version of War of the Worlds that I was referring to. It has great flying saucers and I love the scene when an alien ship crashes into an old farm house.
