@akaganggreen My brother produces(makes beats, and produces hip hop albums) and no REAL producer is gonna get this for the "BEATS" speakers, most who know about real music know that the "beats" is over priced and maybe be okay with sound, but the quality of equipment is just shit! You're headphones Will break if you have beats audio and you'll wonder why you didn't just drop that money on some bose headphones that sound as good and wont ever break. As far as a gaming laptop goes they get er done

@iUzakiR ive come to the conclusion laptops are built with plastic for good reason. I had a mac and metal + heat = shitty design. My macbook 13 aluminum got way too hot.
@vaper1986 these dont cost that much now.. they were fairly priced back then. Any computer back then with core i7 in it was very expensive. Macs didnt even come out with core i7 options then, apple is slow when trying to compete with pc's, they couldnt even play blu-ray for longest time LOL. Right now apple sells core i7 for $2200 with ok speakers. This laptop is a lot cheaper now even with core i7, great speakers, and amazing headphones.

I just got some Studio beats but I took them back.. I needed the money. I think I was expecting them to be crazy amazing but they weren't THAT special. I wouldn't have worn them in public either. I feel too flashy wearing them.

The sound card is actually what will make the music sounds good !
If you plug speakers in your PC it will sound bad but if you plug your speakers in a good Audio interface which is plugged in your PC, it will sound 1000x better.

This is the same shit as the normal envy 15, just with a $600 premium. There's some additional headphones and dj software but who gives a fuck, the Envy 15 has the same amazing specs and a killer design. Just save yourself the $600 and buy the headphones/blueray separately.

Actually, most songs are 1MB. Giving you at least 150-200K songs. Also, no one would even have that many songs in all common sense, it's possible but kind of worthless. That's about two years worth ( Maybe 4 ) of music. In all honest they highest I've ever gotten was around 850MB. But only because of my Cat Pictures.
@Sasukeo101 actually, each song is 4+MB's, and people like me and DJ's have around 200K songs. This laptop isn't for the electronically impaired. If u have only used 1GB on your Hard drive then i suggest you buy a netbook rather then a $2,000+ machine that is used for music and graphic design enthusiasts. most of my music runs at 320kbps thats 10MB per song, and if you are looking for FLAC encoded then that is around 15MB person, depending on length.
By 850 MB I was talking about music, in beats, as I am a music producer, I've gone up to at least 300 GB. In games I've gone over 200 GB. Also, I am a programmer so that takes up some space, not alot, just about 20GB. I make techno songs too, which are usually really lengthy. I don't honestly believe anyone would have over 200,000 songs, even a DJ. And most songs are usually 1-6MB depending on quality and frequencies. My songs come out to 15MB for 9 minutes.

Yeah I have the HP Pavillion Dv6t. Same specs as the envy apart from a ram and graphics card but it did cost me alot less. I dont know too much about computers I know that this is one fast laptop. Am I right in saying that an i7 laptop can be better faster than a superfast dual core desktop PC?
@MysticTrades These guys are idiots trying to sell you something, don't listen to them. Yes, you are right. The Core i7 is a quad core, but what's significant about it is that it has Hyper-Threading. Which in the most basic sense means that there are actually 8 cores. So a Core i7 is actually about 600% better than the Core 2 Duo, regardless of speed. The Envy is nice, but I'm waiting for a 17" model rumored to come about this month.
Hi, yes when I check windows task manager it shows up as 8 cpu's. The hyperthreading adds 4 logical cores even though there's really 4 physical cores. It really does process as if there were 8 =) I did a bench mark test with my HP DV6t and I was surprised to find out that the single core processing was faster than my custom built quad core q9550 desktop which I bought about a year ago. The multicore processing wasnt as fast as my desktop but it was still very close. Thats amazing for a laptop!!
Yup, but (once again, software's limitations) the only reason that it shows up as 8 cores is because Windows (or any OS, for that matter) is programed to utilize them properly (why? it's easy to do! I do it in C# all the time!!!). And Hyper Threading is the reason why ye' ole' Pentium 4's can still keep up with tech now-a-days. I still even see them in gaming rigs, and they still do well!.
If you have a Core 2 Duo, you definitely don't need a new computer though. The Core2Duo's are still new and up-to-par with what a extreme majority of users will use there computers for.

But then they released core i7's when there isn't even a software out there that would make full use of quad core's. In every way the HP envy is as good if not better (hardware). Personally, I wouldn't buy a computer at all without Windows installed. And Im not trying to start a PC/Mac argument. Saying Mac is better than PC is like saying a screw driver is better than a hammer, they're good at what they do. In this case, Macs OS is really easy to use, but limited in capability. Windows, on the other hand, is all about getting a computer's to do everything it possibly can, w/o limit.
But I think PC's are easy to use also. But that's a whole other conversation. Like I said, I want a Envy, but only if they come out with a 17" version because a) it will most likely have a INTERNAL CD drive (this one is external), and b) I do software development and gaming, and want a bigger screen.
I& Quad core allow you to do more at the same time because of the hyper-threading, you can run antivirus, burn a cd and other projects without a hiccup, you try that on a core 2 fan kicks its gets hotter, so you really do benefit from a quad core I7 series, and if you are into Adobe Cs=4 products music production or video editing, you want a system that allows the capability of doing more. I have an 8 core Mac Pro and I do use all of the cpus with certain programs.
It all depends what you use it for, the envy has a dedicated 1gb video card great for gaming and high intensity graphic programs, if your laptop is sharing the memory with an on board integrated video chip, your laptop will run hotter when trying to run new games I have a 2yr old 17" Hp DV9260 its a duo core with T7200 Cpu, I run pro tools, Reasons system, but I use an external audio device, and it also has a tv tuner card I connect to a Direct TV box no problems. Envy is overpriced wait to buy
Hp Makes quad core 17" not an Envy so what, but you can get an HP, Asusm Toshiba etc I7 quad core, which is better then any 2 doal core, I have a Hp 9260 nr, yes it will run most programs but it starts to run hot and fan runs louder, you will see a great improvement with a quad I7 because of the hyperthreading its running 8 threads, which means fast and smoother performance
I decided to buy a DV7t Quad from newegg a little while ago. The think I wanted was the metal chasis and battery life. I'm not crazy over the plastic of the Pavilion laptops. Oh well, HP Envy will always be the laptop that almost got it right.

This is the same shit as the normal envy 15, just with a $600 premium. There's some additional headphones and dj software but who gives a fuck, the Envy 15 has the same amazing specs and a killer design. Just save yourself the $600 and buy the headphones/blueray separately.

Actually, most songs are 1MB. Giving you at least 150-200K songs. Also, no one would even have that many songs in all common sense, it's possible but kind of worthless. That's about two years worth ( Maybe 4 ) of music. In all honest they highest I've ever gotten was around 850MB. But only because of my Cat Pictures.

@Sasukeo101 actually, each song is 4+MB's, and people like me and DJ's have around 200K songs. This laptop isn't for the electronically impaired. If u have only used 1GB on your Hard drive then i suggest you buy a netbook rather then a $2,000+ machine that is used for music and graphic design enthusiasts. most of my music runs at 320kbps thats 10MB per song, and if you are looking for FLAC encoded then that is around 15MB person, depending on length.

By 850 MB I was talking about music, in beats, as I am a music producer, I've gone up to at least 300 GB. In games I've gone over 200 GB. Also, I am a programmer so that takes up some space, not alot, just about 20GB. I make techno songs too, which are usually really lengthy. I don't honestly believe anyone would have over 200,000 songs, even a DJ. And most songs are usually 1-6MB depending on quality and frequencies. My songs come out to 15MB for 9 minutes.

Oh and not only did I mean around 850MB in music, I actually meant to say 850GB. But 850 to 3GB is around the amount I've ever used in music space. Not counting my beats, loops, and etc. But most of my loops are automatic thanks to FL studio.
I'm a heavy user, but really. Most people will never look at or listen to one of even fifty of the 200K - 500K pictures or audio files. Let alone use them. 500GB is just well enough for a light gamer. 4-5 games. 2TB is recommended for heavy use

Well it is a great computer and all that, HP pavillion is 849$ with a similar specs... BTW, good that he mentioned 125thousan mp3's... lets say you have 2000.... 4000x0.99~=2000dolars, wow. If you didn't download them illegally, it is kind of impossible...Just an observation, here. I think people who were sued by the RIAA were kind of right, with this kind of specs, if you can fill this, and I bet you can, you're possibly, very likely to have something illegal on your hdd.

Yeah I have the HP Pavillion Dv6t. Same specs as the envy apart from a ram and graphics card but it did cost me alot less. I dont know too much about computers I know that this is one fast laptop. Am I right in saying that an i7 laptop can be better faster than a superfast dual core desktop PC?

@MysticTrades These guys are idiots trying to sell you something, don't listen to them. Yes, you are right. The Core i7 is a quad core, but what's significant about it is that it has Hyper-Threading. Which in the most basic sense means that there are actually 8 cores. So a Core i7 is actually about 600% better than the Core 2 Duo, regardless of speed. The Envy is nice, but I'm waiting for a 17" model rumored to come about this month.

Hi, yes when I check windows task manager it shows up as 8 cpu's. The hyperthreading adds 4 logical cores even though there's really 4 physical cores. It really does process as if there were 8 =) I did a bench mark test with my HP DV6t and I was surprised to find out that the single core processing was faster than my custom built quad core q9550 desktop which I bought about a year ago. The multicore processing wasnt as fast as my desktop but it was still very close. Thats amazing for a laptop!!

Yup, but (once again, software's limitations) the only reason that it shows up as 8 cores is because Windows (or any OS, for that matter) is programed to utilize them properly (why? it's easy to do! I do it in C# all the time!!!). And Hyper Threading is the reason why ye' ole' Pentium 4's can still keep up with tech now-a-days. I still even see them in gaming rigs, and they still do well!.

Yeah I agree with you there, I mean when I bought my quad core I wanted to buy something that would last me quite a while and be one step ahead of core2duo. But then they released core i7's when there isn't even a software out there that would make full use of quad core's. In every way the HP envy is as good if not better (hardware). Personally, I wouldn't buy a computer at all without Windows installed. And Im not trying to start a PC/Mac argument. Saying Mac is better than PC is like saying a screw driver is better than a hammer, they're good at what they do. In this case, Macs OS is really easy to use, but limited in capability. Windows, on the other hand, is all about getting a computer's to do everything it possibly can, w/o limit.

I& Quad core allow you to do more at the same time because of the hyper-threading, you can run antivirus, burn a cd and other projects without a hiccup, you try that on a core 2 fan kicks its gets hotter, so you really do benefit from a quad core I7 series, and if you are into Adobe Cs=4 products music production or video editing, you want a system that allows the capability of doing more. I have an 8 core Mac Pro and I do use all of the cpus with certain programs.

It all depends what you use it for, the envy has a dedicated 1gb video card great for gaming and high intensity graphic programs, if your laptop is sharing the memory with an on board integrated video chip, your laptop will run hotter when trying to run new games I have a 2yr old 17" Hp DV9260 its a duo core with T7200 Cpu, I run pro tools, Reasons system, but I use an external audio device, and it also has a tv tuner card I connect to a Direct TV box no problems. Envy is overpriced wait to buy

Hp Makes quad core 17" not an Envy so what, but you can get an HP, Asusm Toshiba etc I7 quad core, which is better then any 2 doal core, I have a Hp 9260 nr, yes it will run most programs but it starts to run hot and fan runs louder, you will see a great improvement with a quad I7 because of the hyperthreading its running 8 threads, which means fast and smoother performance

I decided to buy a DV7t Quad from newegg a little while ago. The think I wanted was the metal chasis and battery life. I'm not crazy over the plastic of the Pavilion laptops. Oh well, HP Envy will always be the laptop that almost got it right.
