I agree that changing the path would destroy the character of this beautiful historic site. Ideally they can make it more accessible by modifying the golf cart so a tourist in a w/c can easily wheel on for a tour!
Changing the paths to hard pavement would destroy the character of the experience and turn the place into a Disney-like theme park--far better to have available an "all terrain motorized wheelchair" or three that people could check out, or modify the golf cart, as mentioned. I think two stars is a pretty cold assessment--three is fairer.
