dont talk shite. alan ball was the best player ive seen in 50 yrs watching footy, so wind yer "gregory peck" in, me old cock sparrer. haha. C.O.Y.B. long live bally.
I well remember Alan Ball when he played for the Vancouver Whitecaps in 1979, He controlled each game from the midfield and outplayed a lot of opponents much younger than him. He was a delight to watch Thank you Alan
Ok, I meant generally, maybe someone will put something up one day. There's action of Bally v Liverpool in 1970. Search for "Everton 1970" and it comes up. Best Everton side ever imo. Alan Ball was probably my favourite player of all time... an England and Everton legend.
Wish there was more footage of Bally here in his Everton career. Most of Everton's games in the late 60s/early 70s were shown on Granada, very few home games on BBC Match of the Day, and not being a northener I rarely saw them. West, Brown, Wright, Kendall, Labone ( Kenyon), Harvey ( Jackson), Husband ( Whittle), Ball, Royle, Hurst, Morrissey- great great side!
Watched Bally many times in the 70's along with the EFC elite. As a kid living south coast my chosen 1st team was Everton though as I got older i learnt that your local team gets your real support and Fratton is where I stayed, though when Bally came to us it was a dream come true. He's the best ever and will be sorely missed. Remember singing that song on your vid as a kid, my god how old does it make me feel to hear it now....well done1
The word legend is used far too lightly in football. People like Gerrard, Fowler, Carragher etc. No, a legend is Alan Ball, who won the pinnacle of any footballers career, the World cup. He also won honours with Everton as a club player. I was privelidged to sit in the Gwladys street stands between 1968 and 71 to witness this genius at work, and many away grounds. To all Evertonians, never forget! This man was a true blue, and respected by players and fans all over the world. RIP
You missed player coach at Bristol Rovers. He took terrible stick from the Fratton End playing for them in 1983. Unlike today's "stars" he saw the funny side and ran up to them and conducted the singing. A true great.
