  • nice barney bubbles graphics - and Bobs concept - brilliant song and lyrics as ever

  • @bonifaciomusso Yes: Robert's lyrics are always brilliant.

  • love this track, hawkwind (hawklords) strutting there stuff

  • Very nice video and music...

  • Nice one, Heidi!

"25 Years" is definitely the definitive Calvert album - it's kind of Freq meets Captain Lockheed with a sprinkling of the inevitable quark, strangeness and charm. I'm tempted to say that it's the best Hawkwind album of the lot ...

  • this makes me think of my brother Glenn Peter Anderson, God rest his soul (1957 - 1991) RIP

  • @liverlisa May God be with him and Peace be upon you!! He was my age. Be strong and take solace in music :)

  • @aniolku25 thank you.... my brother loved music like I do and he loved Hawkwind...

  • Respond to this video...

  • Well made video! You might join the youtube-video-contest at the channel : playbiennial (a collaboration between YouTube and the Guggenheim Museum)

What software did you use to make this clip?

  • @plexihout

Ha! Thanks for that. The software is just a free slideshow thing I got somewhere on the web. The bits that look animated were drawn by me in MS Paint and then stuck into the slideshow with the smallest time rate allowed (which was something like 0.2seconds if I remember correctly) it was a while ago. I don't think I'd win any prizes for film making but it gives people something to look at while they're listening to Robert's fantastic work. Cheers for your support :-)

  • Cheers for the link to this, takes me back to my spotty-faced youth, and they still sound fabulous!

I saw Hawklords and Hawkwind many times in Kent during the 70's. best gigs were with Bob Calvert, what a performer!

    Subbed for more:

  • You're right: Robert Calvert was THE MAN. Sorely missed.

  • how was the November 29 gig? Who played? Did Swindells showup?

  • The gig was awesome!

Lineup was: Harvey Bainbridge, Alan Davey, Danny Thompson, Nik Turner, Adrian Shaw, Ron Tree, Jerry Richrds & Steve Swindells. A DVD of the event will be out soon. You can see some single-camera snippets here on YouTube - search for "Hawklords 229"

heard this track nearly 30 years ago and still makes a big impression on me

  • Yea creds on this one.. :) ive never heared this track till now :)) YYAYY!! Thanks :)

  • Thank you for sharing this. =)

  • i used to listen to this in 84-85 when i was still at school..still sounds cool now.hawkwind still rule!

  • Yep: it still sounds cool. That's down to the fact that Robert Calvert was a brilliant songwriter. Come along to the Roundhouse in June for lots of songs like this one :¬)

  • We tryed posting "Flying Doctor" I think it might be a Bit 2 "Druggie" 4 Youtube, somtimes I feel like they pick on Me More than Most, do you like the "Flying Doc" Hiedi ? I love it I.

It just SOOOO FUNNY, High Rise is Brilliant To !

  • His receptionist saw him: it certainly shocked her...

  • Flying Doc is already up it must have bin my Druggie Vid "they" didn't like.

  • Heidi are you going to make any videos for Lucky Leif and the Longships?

  • No plans at the mo'

My next one will be either Ned Ludd or All the Machines are Quiet - to tie-in with the anniversary of the strike.

Any particular songs from Lucky Leif?

  • Ragna Rock Really Rocks !

  • Very true. My current project is Telekinesis, which is going to have more stop-motion animation in it. Should have a similar feel to It's The Same.

  • Great track, got the original on vinyl, gutted the two gigs in Nottinghill are sold out. Shame there is no footage available from the Greasy Truckers Party.

  • Greasy Truckers footage: there is a DVD available of the ICU set. The Hawkestra set was filmed but will probably remain unreleased due to all the arguments. The Roundhouse gig is due to be filmed though, so we cal all look forward to that :¬)

  • This is one of my favourite Hawkwind (OK, technically Hawklords) tracks. It was the first tour I saw them (at Wolves Civic Hall) and memories of Calvert in his army fatigues under the strobe are some of the best.

Why don't they play this any more?

  • Well, they MIGHT play it at the Roundhouse - you never know ;¬)

Hawklords was very much Robert's band (whereas Hawkwind was Dave's baby) and his vision really shone through on this album. It's a crime that he doesn't get more recognition, but that's why I make these videos for Youtube - spreading the word!

Thanks for the comment - see you at the Roundhouse?

  • i hate ,CDs, they lose the soul of the music, a few crackles and pops dont detract from the experience, but a lifeless clinical sound does,(but the powers that be??) roger waters i think?

  • at 56 im a bit old to be headbanging now ,lol,to much arthritis, besides i have a pair of home made transmission line speakers that can distort your vision with a 30 watt NAD amp, the wife has to bluetak all the ornaments down, lp,s played on A GARRARD,401, with an SME 3009, arm and various cartriges,

  • You're NEVER too old!

Well, if you can't make it there should be a DVD to follow, and lots of photos on my Facebook page too.

Your system sounds interesting: with decent equipment LPs beat CDs hands down for sound quality.

    Take it easy :¬)

  • Hey..... in the words of Ray Lomas "You're never too old to Rock 'n'Roll, if you are too young to die".

  • Blimey! Jethro Tull eh?

The LP had a comic style fold-out sleeve, whereas the CD just has a tiny paper insert with some printing that's too small to read. Once again proof that CDs are shyte and we only buy 'em because the record companies want to save money. Bah humbug! etc. etc.

  • i got almost all of their early albums (lp,s) i play them in the garden to annoy the druggies on my estate,

  • He he.

Will we see you at the Roundhouse then?

  • If Hawkwind annoys the Druggies on your estate, then they are doing the wrong kind of drugs Geeza! But kudos to your re-education program. You obviously take the wellbeing of your community very seriously, but honestly Mate, crackheads don't "get" Hawkwind.

  • excellent Axel... love it

  • Thanks very much. I'm now working on the next one, which will be more drawing-based.

  • love all the bandaged bondage'not devo'pics, ive got the ones with the strings on er eyes as my descktop.were did you get the toe touching ones from?off the record i bet.cool vid!!!fffrrrreeeeeffaaaalllll.........

  • Yes mate: off the inner sleeve of the LP. That's something we miss with CDs: all that great cover artwork.

I couldn't decide which version of the song to use at first - there's a live Hawklords version which is similar to this, and then there's the totally bonkers Sonic Assassins version. In the end I went with this one because it's the most polished and should appeal to more YouTubers.

    Glad you like it :¬)

  • The Hawklords' roundhouse gig sounds very interesting. I'm definitely gonna head over to London in March for that.

  • this video is 'cold'!!!!!
