I can think of something somewhat worse then that. Two Gengars using Rage during the first generation of Pokemon games. Back then, a Pokemon using Rage would continue to attack without the player's input until the Rage user fainted, or the battle ended. Two Gengars using Rage would automatically attack each other and never damage the other, and the only way to stop it would be to shut off the game.
