God takes all the legends! He wants them all to himself . . please god create another legend like this in the 2000s . . so it will be 'like he's never been gone'
Billy Fury was never given the acclaim he fully deserved in the U.K. He was one of the Greatest singers of his generation, and the nearest thing to Evis that the U.K. Ever produced.
The great Billy Fury singing a beautiful song. You will never be gone Billy as long as we can still listen to your beautiful voice and look at your lovely face and remember how great you were. RIP .
@5151emily. . .you're quite right, Billy was unique, he veered away the straight forward singing style of his contemporaries and made his songs and style his own and unmistakably so. Lots of girls(and boys) loved Billy for that and still do today !!
I am back again listening to this beautiful song sung so brilliantly by Billy. I can't imagine anyone singing this better than Billy Fury. Every time I listen to it I get teary eyed. The words are just so haunting. and his voice is so melodious! FOR ME BILLY YOU WILL NEVER BE GONE! I will always love you. RIP .
Have to keep listening to this song as it is so beautiful and so very sad. Miss Billy so much! What a loss. Thank goodness we have him on records and captured on film! Such a great artist and so beautiful.
This is such an incredibly romantic song. Why oh why can't men be like this nowadays?! A slow dance, a song on the record player...oh yes I could live with that :)
OH my G-D!!! Billy was so amazing. Beautiful voice and he wrote a number of his own songs. (So unheard of in those days especially when you are that goodlooking !) he was the complete package and was a very shy sweet guy. Really missed , so sad to have gone so early. What a waste. Hopefully he is duetting with Elvis up there! RIP BILLY. Love you so much.
He was undoubtedly one of the best of his time. He had a distinctive voice and great presence on stage. And you knew you were watching somebody when you saw him. The memory of him, even now after all these years, is still very real.
He was brilliant and as I had not heard him in a long time, this really moved me ! and thankyou also for those great pictues. So tragic to be taken at such an early age. R.I.P.
@2Cute949 Are you demented I like Billy but he was one of a hundred Elvis "Impersonators" who sprang up at the same time, he was just a lot better then most, never had a number one because he was not as good as others. Cliff Richard had 14 number one's add in the five that the Shadows had and that makes them bigger then the Beatles in the UK. Great guy Billy and good performer, but lets get real.
@bunternut For you to dismiss Billy Fury as just "one of a hundred Elvis impersonators who sprang up" is - to put it politely - plain daft. Quite obviously, you've never heard the 10inch "Sound of Fury" album - self-written, and generally recognized by any informed person as British rock n roll's finest moment. Bar none.
@circles69 hi to all billy fury fan's billy fury was the brittish elivs presley as i am a big fan of elivs presley and also billy fury if he did not deid early in his life he be better than cliff richard sorry upsetting cliff fans
At that time I was jiving in Soho, Dean Street LES ENFANTS TERRIBLES, it was 1961, my girl friend at that time was telling me that she had been his former girl friend. I wasn't jealous though. I always liked Billy .
It's an absolute crime this man didn't achieve a UK number 1 single. It certainly wasn't down to any lack of talent and his songs were always brilliant. I guess that's just the way the mop flops sometimes. This man was a fabulous singer, a credible rocker and a much under-rated songwriter. Brilliant, in other words.
just found my billy fury cd behind a drawer yesterday thats been there for yonks and today is me bday and today billy is being played and today im getting drunk!!!! lol
Billy was so under estimated.....bit like Dusty....slipped away but now do we know how good they were......Bit late ! story of Brit Music really......when its gone its gone 1
Check Billy's version of a song called "Because of Love". It's better than Elvis's version. [From Elvis's film Girls, Girls, Girls]....though Elvis's is the original.
happy birthday billy still the greatest of all time sad your gone but never forgotten after all the years you still the finest talent on the planet we still remember you everyday
I know the feeling ! I was brought up on this in rural Shropshire / Northumberland, even had the hairstyle XD I love the 60s music, and can't relate to the modern rubbish- I'm if ever there was one, someone who's been caught up in a timeewarp ! ;)
my dad liked billy fury and its in my blood im 44 i think he was fantastic know all his songs got his films loads of cds been to his grave superb RIP Billy
Many people sing , occassionally someone like billy comes along, he had the 'magic dust' in his voice which few people have, just listen to the many tribute artists on youtube and compare with the real thing, you will see what I mean. He was a major talent .
Seen him live once in the early 60's at the Colston Hall in Bristol. First pop concert I ever went to, I was about 13 and went with the 2 teenage girls next door. For raw excitement, best pop concert I ever went to. Fury on stage was electric.
Also remember him on TV shows like Thank Your Lucky Stars, very intense and exciting to watch.
Halfway To Paradise always been my fav Billy Fury record.
Billy was closest to the "American" rock & roll sound that England had (beside Tony Crombie). His 'Sound of Fury' LP from 1960 is now available on CD. Buy it, you will NOT be disappointed.
Wonderful singer!! Sadly, I have never heard of him before. I understand why the UK loved him so much. Wish he would have made it over here in the USA as well. He would have rocked our world like Elvis did!!
kidgalerhad i know your videos are better maybe thats cause a genius made them hahahaha. i presume theyre the ones you mean seeings as u aint got any on your channel.
I saw Billy performing live 3 times when I was a teenager, he was my idol, and when I close my eyes I can see him now, wearing blue jeans and seated on a stool as he sang. It's not often appreciated that he wrote many of his own songs as well as having a wonderful voice.
I've got a VHS tape of him singing "Devil or Angel" taped from a programme on Channel 4 called Unforgettable. He looked painfully thin but still gave great performance. Don't know how to upload though!
there was only one true rock n roll singer to match elvis back then, that was billy ,a true legend , so sad that he died so young ,when there was so much more for him to give musically, never a day goes by when i dont play some fury

This was guy was had such incredible charisma, I adored him and still do. We didn't really know how to deal with this kind of talent at the time. Still missing you xxx
thank god for ronnie wycherley ... thanks for the music billy ... rest in peace ... this song makes the hairs stand up on the back of my neck ... my favourite and pure class ! say hi to my dad for me
Absolutely brilliant, one of the first records I ever bought brings back so many memories to hear it again. This is the original version which in my opinion is superior to later re- records he did.
RIP Billy, why did you have to leave us so early, I'll always remember you.
what a fantastic song, has any one else recorded this song?i was only five yrs old when this was out so dont recall it well.love to hear another version.
No other comments apart from saying - absolutely love him. He is just fantastic and looking back to my era of music - best music

Absolutely brilliant, one of the first records I ever bought brings back so many memories to hear it again. This is the original version which in my opinion is superior to later re- records he did.
RIP Billy, why did you have to leave us so early, I'll always remember you.
