  • What about nuts? i seem to be addicted to like peanut butter and peanuts and cashews. they are natural. so when i say whats better than this, what do i say? Peanuts are pretty healthy

  • @HTWFCHAMP321 Nah they're not. They offer very little in the way of nutritional value and butters are generally made with high temperature cooked nuts which makes eating them even worse.

  • How can I control my urge to constantly masturbate ?

  • You rock!

  • i have a coffee addiction. I use to have a drinking, smokeing, and coffee addiction. I just let the other two go at the same time so coffee is my sanity haha.

  • Oh yeah amazing colors, I see brown and green. Dead leaves oh my god how cool, never saw dead leaves before!

Your armchair psychobabble is as stupid as your fake hippie praise of dead leaves.

I bet you were a lot less annoying when you were drinking.

  • mashed potatoes mash potatoes mashed potatoes!!!! So now I eat cauliflower mashed potatoes!!!

  • I'm a raw foodist, but I love to cook food. I don't eat it, I don't even come close to eating it. The other day I made pork tamales, and I wasn't struggling to make myself not eat it. Same with All the other things I make. I like to smell food though. I can easily pick it up, smell it, and put it down(unless it's mango, or date).

  • Thank You!

  • almond butter and peanut butter, and any other nut butter. To manage how much i eat, I buy smaller amounts, maybe 4 oz instead of a 1lb at a time.

  • Nice advice.

  • Good video. I was curious if you guys could make a video about how you guys met and how this show came to be.

  • omg... thes donuts are soooo good.. mmmmm pizza and ice cream... soooooo yummmmyyyy

  • I'll try this.

  • I slather everything in ketchup! hmm... smashed tomatoes would be a better option indeed.

  • Bananas :-(((

  • What you are talking about is raising addiction to a preference. It's a good point you make.

  • wow...very wise...

  • simple but EXTREMELY power technique. Thanks :) What is a better choice right now?

  • mixing salt and sweet.

so eating half a large pizza and dipping the crust in vanilla icecream and then having some chips mixed with ju-jubes.

since I've started eating more raw foods it doesn't happen as much but the cravings still arise. I always feel disgusting after

  • When I'm emotionally eating, I want comfort food. Mine is a concocion that we made in college called goop. It's mac and cheese (from a box) mixed with canned cream of mushroom soup and canned sliced mushrooms. It's so full of preservativesand bad things it could probably do a lot of damage.

But sticky cheesy pasta is my comfort.

    Nikki

  • i always find when theres something bad for me that i want ,that i say to myself "only this once " or "i havent really eaten anything that bad today ,it'll be a treat".so thankyou for your wisdom it does seem so simple to do i shall try to put it to action. again, thankyou =)

  • this is just a great bit of wisdom! thanks for your words of advice!(:

  • This is one of your best ever videos! And just a great bit of advice to us all..THANKS(:

  • I deal with my "emotional eating" 3 times a day at least. So I face my addiction 3 times a day. Plus, it is sooo easy to reach for something high in carbs. :(

  • If you're in the Atlanta area, you guys have got to stop in Carrboro, NC! I promise that you will LOVE it!

  • Good video!

  • fresh bread and cheesecake. i make cashew cheesecake, but the bread is harder...i don't know any raw replacement for fresh bread... this is a really great and encouraging video :)

  • @FarkyLarky Have you tried making a sprouted grain bread? Or even gluten-free bread? I come from a family that eats A LOT of bread, so when I was transitioning to raw, I found that making my own bread with sprouted, gluten-free grains was the best alternative. I love sourdough, so I just blend sprouted buckwheat and millet with almond milk kefir to form a thin dough. Then I let it sit out overnight, covered. The next day, it will have risen. Then bake it at 150 F for 2 hours. YUMMO!

  • I never knew that about you with the alchohol thing. I like that you guys show your human side. Somtimes alot of the other "raw gurus" act like they are super humand and none of there personal side shows, after a while you stop trusting them, one person that comes to mind is david wolfe, he talks to fast and just seems greedy for money, trys to act like a god. If never seen any emotion or realness from him

  • Plain Potato Chips, I love how salty they are... it's horrible. Stress seems to trigger my craving for them.

  • Well for me the best option is to simply not make it available in the first place . going for a run or deep breathing can help too

  • Hey Kevin your in my town. Well one addiction I may have is bread, pasta, and rice. I have been on the Master Cleanse for 9 days to transition to high raw lifestyle. But I found that I have not crave any since Ive be on the cleanse. But I know that lilcraving demon will be waiting until the most weak time. So do you have any substitutes for rice? I found some for pasta, and bread

  • recovering bulimic here. My weakness is salt and vinegar potato chips and dulce de leche gelato (I'm lactose intolerant too, not a fun thing to go through! lol)

My digestion became so impaired that I couldn't even digest fruit. I'm doing a LOT better now. Every time I crave something unhealthy I'll think of how physically uncomfortable and fatigued I felt after bingeing. Works for me!

  • Kevin, you rock!

  • bulimia.

but i don't purge, i just feel the need to stuff myself with food until i can't breathe, and then feel guilty.

i'm gonna try this question, maybe it will help, maybe i can at least stuff myself with healthy food and then slowly it will go away

  • I was talking to you!!! LOL :-)

Just kidding! My grandfather eats them all the time, so that's what I was thinking about!

    Kev

  • You said something similar to this on another video kev, and I've been trying it out, it really does work better than anything. This vid gave me an extra boost, thanks a lot :-)

  • Oh Kevin, that is such a good video! Just what I needed! Some of this I figured out on my own, but you just told me how to take it to the next level. I'd be lying if I said I didn't crave some kind of junk. For me, I sometimes get this overwhelming urge to have french fries. Usually just thinking about all the grease and carbs is enough to turn me off the idea, but I like your idea of flax crackers. I just bought a dehydrator, so the timing is impeccable!

  • excellent vid....the food i crave is chocolate

  • Have you looked into raw chocolate?

  • of course, but even raw chocolate must be eaten in moderation

  • That's true for everything.

  • I used to love chocolate! But then after doing a 100 day juice fast, somehow chocolate being so unappealing. I even tried some raw chocolate and really wasn't into it. Good thing, because chocolate is so wrong. Despite being too sweet, in my past life I'd often go and those "2 for 1 specials" on candy bars and eat them so fast before anyone would notice. Now the though of it almost makes me sick...

  • Well, you are talking about regular chocolate which caters to cravings due to sugar addiction. That's terrible. I've been there. I eat those on a rare blue moon. TOO sweet. The raw choc I haven't tried but supposedly it is good 4 you, lots of anti oxidants. Eating nutritionally rich foods completely stop cravings. I used to *need* ice cream. But no more.

  • "Eating nutriionally rich foods completely stops cravings".

I have found this to be true. I gave up my 5 chocolate bars a day and no longer crave it. One, I have replaced it with nutritionally dense foods, and secondly, have retrained my palate.

  • johnny rockets

  • You are so cute and lovely! I am interested in what kind of diet you have. are you 100% raw? Thank you for wonderful videos!

  • yeah, thats how i would get rid of addiction, i'd find something else to be addicted to... my main addiction is my computer and i thnk by far it's much better then smoking, drinking or doing drugs. =^-^=

  • I appreciate you tackling this topic. Your question can be used on a universal level. I just wish it was that easy to remain conscious when the addictive thinking starts. I guess what overtime as we make little changes they build up to big changes and new patterns, thoughts and behaviors. You are so right about how people play hopscotch with addictions. Kevin, I want to congratulate you on overcoming alcohol addiction. Bravo, thank you for sharing. Cravings: Peace, Love, Optimal Health, Avocados

  • That is a question that can be applied to not just food but to any behavioral tendency we can work to improve upon.

  • Dear Friend of "the renegade health show," I want you to know your video's are very inspiring and helpful. I loved this one particularly. You could basically re-apply this to ANY addiction!

"What can I do, that is better than this." Great job sir. Keep up the good work. Humans, need inspiration like this, to help us all deal with the "ZOMBIES" in our life. I love that you referred to addiction, as ZOMBIES. Such a beautiful analogy.

  • Roasted non-organic cashews

    are way to addicting.

I almost always eat more than I'm hungry for. Sometimes i keep eating while feeling nauseated already.

It's much easier to stop eating the raw organic cashews when full.

  • cheese

  • u look like very smart rat

  • lol

  • what is a healthier/better option right now....good question for all life situations...for talking/dealing with relationships, so many things....what's a better choice right now....very good kevin

  • Coffee, finally just got that one out of my diet, I began eating organic and my body just couldnt take the coffee anymore, its too much and now I cant stand the taste.

  • Whole milk, use to drink a gallon of the stuff, I just don't go for it because I see that saturated fat in it and stay clear of it.

  • As long as you don't have an allergy, raw whole milk from grass fed cows should be pretty healthy.

Check out Sally Fallon, Paul Check or Underground Wellness.

Many people who are sensitive to lactose (milk sugar) can eat yogurt without any problems.

  • I've actually tried whole milk when I went to Mexico, that's all they sold in the markets was raw milk and I even got it from my grandmother who milked the cows but didn't really like the taste that much...

  • Cigs.

  • MUST...HAVE.....POPSICLES!!!!!!!!

What can I replace that with?

  • make your own fruit popsicles. buy some frozen fruit, or freeze some fresh fruit, then put it in a blender, blend and pour into popsicle molds and refreeze - that would be a healthier option compared to anything that's store bought.

also - Kevin, this is the best episode I've seen. Definitely resonated with me as I'd spent a month off of the high-raw wagon.

  • THIS IS YOUR BEST VIDEO YET. tuna. i know i shouldnt eat it. i know i can live w/o it. i think it is a...ya gotta have protein..thing. i do not buy it but hubby thinks he is doing me a favor by getting some.

  • I am battling sugar cravings! I can not limit myself and before I realize it I have literally eaten enough of what ever I am having to add up to 100g of sugar, it is not even about a better option I just can't stop. It is quite ridiculous.

  • My biggest vice used to be cheese, but that was completely eliminated when I found out I was severely allergic to dairy. Now I would say it is bread. Bread is intoxicating to me when I smell it.

  • Woah, you are in my area! I was wondering when you guys were going to make it out this way.

  • OMG your in Ga with me, actually you are really close to me.

  • Good strategy. This is excellent.

  • Most food addictions (and this includes alcohol) is a blood sugar imbalance. The best way to satisfy a blood sugar imbalance is with protein (best option is an alkalizing plant based protein).

Chlorella tabs or other algae is a good thing to take anytime you crave sugar (whether it's fruit, alcohol, meat or candy).

  • "whats a better option?" love the way you think! small steps to improvement is so key to getting further onto the right path! just found your youtube videos today, im loving them. whats crazy is that i met you at WCSU when i was attending there. my friends had me meet you, since i was the only vegetarian they knew at the time, and i had no interest in getting to know u further, i cant remember why...now here i am watching u on youtube! crazy

  • i crave chicken. when i go to whole foods around their cooked food ssection its hard to look at it. but the i just open up my pack of almonds and thats a healthier choice

  • bread with smart balance fake butter. In my non vegan days, I could live on bread and butter, no problem.

I'm planning on getting a dehydrator soon, so will be looking for better choices using that.

TIP - if you are craving ice cream, try frozen grapes instead, they are delish!!

  • My crave is chocolate :(

  • well thats good cuz u can make raw chocoalte sacue with cocao honey and coconut meat. it syummy

  • wuts a better option than steak? If ur tryin to remove meats from your diet.

  • Hemp seeds have about the same amount of protein by weight as steak, plus the protein is the most easily digestible on Earth.

  • i got a sample of hemp and dont really know what to do with them. lol i guess i can put them on my tuna...read on.

  • Put the hemp seeds on a salad, in cereal or in a smoothie. Whatever you do, don't cook them as their oils are volatile!

  • thank you so much for all your help! i will try hemp as well as tofu. u all are so supportive!

  • tofu or any of the other soy mock-meat products. if you dont like soy then try bean dishes.

  • i crave salty snacks!

  • magnectic draw to chips ....i have been getting organic corn chops to subsitute ... need to find a raw cip provider out there ... or suck it up and buy a dehydrator and make some ..... thanks for this ...

  • let the beard roam fee ! : -- )

  • Comment removed

  • Hes tellin truth, works for me all the time and has been working for awhile.

My draw would be carbs, meaning the refined kind. I don't really have much of a sugar/salt/fat addiction I don't like soda or anything like that its just like refined foods in general i guess. I stop and think, "couldn't i make something better then that" So I'll go home and make whole wheat bread, or ill buy whole wheat bread. The unbleached, unenriched, no additive bread. MM good. Good for losing weight too ;)

  • Am so sugarholic...

So... my better option is medium/low GI foods.

    Have a nice day!

  • Thanks Kev

You're enthusiasm and smiles are contagious
