  • Made this connection tonight while studying for my Lit exam, youtubed it, and sure enough.... 6 hours later I'm still here and gonna fail.

  • why is this such a surprise??? cartoons and shows reference literature and real life events all the time.

if you are "wow'd" by this, you really need to get out more.

  • indeed sponge bob is to this day is a classic

  • dudeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

  • wow.

  • we read the Tell Tale Heart in class yesterday and I got to thinking, and realized how similiar this episode is to the poem...

  • lol watched this with our english teacher 2day:P

We wanted to see it after that cartoon from tth^^

  • Oh Crap! I read this but never realized this being a parody

  • Hahahahahaha! Oh my goodness, awesome video! XD

  • I'm watching the episode right now and I just realized the allusion...so naturally, I went on YouTube to see if anyone had noticed it, haha.

  • i never noticed until now. o.o'

  • Ahaha this is awesome! I'm pretty sure the music is the same. Or at least, so extremely similar, they might as well be identical.

  • SPONGEBOB rules!!!!!!!!!!!

  • :D SponegBob is much more than Edgar's story :D Opsss I am just kidding Just loving SpongeBob

  • lol but the only diffrence is that Mr.krabs was able to dig under the building and then lift the building! lol SUPER KRAB LOL

  • Oh..... My.... GOOOOOODDDDD!

  • I remember when I was reading The Tell Tale Heart for school 2 years ago I thought of Mr. Krabs and the boots when I got to this part of the book lol

  • trolled.

  • Really I know 6 yr olds

  • itll be a cold day when any of the newer spongebobs will make this kind of reference

  • Ohhh now I get it... xD

  • LOL

  • there arent any original ideas anymore, they are always copies

    She's the man: Twelfth night

    Sydney White: snow white

    they've all been done before.

  • @EmsMakeItUp yeah, they need to get their own ideas. It doesnt matter though, they will never beat the originals.

  • @AKix32296 yeah, classics will never be beat<3

  • Oh my god how did I not realize this??? And my english class just read the tell tale heart too lol

  • Its ment to be a spoof

  • Last time I watched this episode was when I was a kid....I started reading Edgar Allan Poes stories when I became a teen ager....so if I saw this episode recently I'd be jumping around at the reference to Poes' story in SPONGEBOB.How cool!

  • The Squeak Squeak Boots...

  • Thats awesome!

  • omg..

  • Yeah, anybody who read the story and saw the episode already knew this.

  • im just glad im not the only person who noticed this. i was in literature class and it was the part in tell tale heart and i yelled. "the booots!!!!!!"

  • How did I miss this?

  • Wow, I haven't even noticed. I guess because I forgot about this episode.

  • XD I recognized it the first time. (Of course I've read tons of Poe's works.)

  • lol i thought that when we learned about the tell tale heart at school! :/ wierd huh?

  • Isn't this kind of the joke?

  • @xoutkastx3

Yup. Not sure if this guy thinks he's the fucking man for figuring this out or if he's just retarded.

  • This is exactly what I thought! When I was reading that in school a while back I thought, "This is interesting...hey, wait a minute...(*gasp*) SpongeBob!!!" Very glad I'm not the only one who noticed. xD

  • holy crap how did i not notice this till now? i love spongebob and Poe equally so one wud think id figure this out xD

  • They kinda did that on purpose. Thats what spongebob does takes old stories and makes them funny and kid friendly. =)

  • oh my god how did i never notice this

  • thats what i thought

  • Press 6 for Boots. XD

  • You are really smart to notice this.

  • This is fucking quality.

  • i was watching this episode with my lil brother, and started jumping up and down going "oo, the tell-tale heart! the tell-tale heart!!" and my parents were like "okaaaaaaay, she's finally gone crazy."

my parents don't respect the classics. i'm pretty sure they don't even know who edgar allen poe is. 'tis sad.

  • @ivettexxx LOL! I remember seeing that too. I felt smart ^_^

  • @ivettexxx Ikr? i cant believe some older people (ESPECIALLY ADULTS) have never heard of him.

  • @ivettexxx I did that exact same thing! :D

  • haha as soon as i read the tell tale heart i noticed this

  • My A-Level English Language teacher showed this episode to the class, as we are preparing for a creative writing coursework and read The Tell-Tale Heart as an example of Gothic Fiction.

Two lessons prior, when the temperature outside was something like -7°C and the classroom was only marginally warmer, she took the entire class to a nearby café where she took everyone's orders and then held the lesson.

    Quite evidently, she is awesome.
