US congresswoman Cynthia McKinney has come out and blamed the pro-Israel Lobby in America (AIPAC, ADL, ZOA, etc) for ruining her political career. While in congress she refused to sign the pro-Israel pledge and took a pro-Palestinian stance. Because of this, McKinney said “war was declared” on her by the Jewish lobby. In 2009 she told TIU's Ognir that “more than 99% of Congress work for Pro Zionist Israeli interests.”
@TakeMeToOchrasy actully adam had left the studio when the song was recorded and it was just the edge, buno and larry left recording it so edge played bass on it after laying down the guitar track.
@TakeMeToOchrasy live yes, on the wikipideia page it has this to say The song was recorded right at the end of the recording sessions for War. Bassist Adam Clayton had already left the studio, and the three remaining band members decided they didn't have a good song to end the album.[2] Bono, The Edge, and Larry Mullen Jr. quickly recorded the song with The Edge switching off to both the electric and bass guitar. Bono called the song "40" as he based the lyrics on Psalm 40.

dunno, they just always have. it does seem strange, though, since they don't do it that often. It's like, "why this song in particular?" Maybe they wrote it on opposite instruments, or something.
It's cause Edge has to do the backing vocals and the guitarist has to do a lot of feedback stuff that requires him messing around with sounds and that would mess with the microphones or something. I know next to nothing about guitars, but I know they do this cause of tech reasons, and that its just not random. I, too, like how Adam rocks the guitar. I wish for kicks they play Endless Deep with him on lead vocals.
actually its because during the recording sessions for the war album, this song was born while they were just messing around. adam wasn't in the room so edge started playing the bass.
Actually, the Edge wrote the bass line to this song, hence why he plays it at the end. When they play it live, Larry is last to leave because he was the first person to put the band together.
When they were recording the 'War' album, from which this is taken, by the time they came to record this song Adam had gone on a pre-arranged holiday. So Edge played the bass lines
k. When recording War, Larry left, i dont know why, maybe for a holiday. but anyway, they had to record one more song due to contract, and they hadnt written another, so Bono pulled out his Bible, and they recorded a version of Psalm 40, hence the name 40, and the edge recorded the guitar and bass parts, so i guess its just a nod to the edge??

1st - Larry plays drums
2nd - Edge plays bass because the guitar part has a bunch of effects on it, which would skrew up the vocals
ctbyrne 4 years ago
dude its harder to play the bass and sing along then play guitar with and sing...
alincioaba 4 years ago
its not a matter of how hard it is, its a matter of the effects pedals (feedback, delay) on the guitar would mess with the mic
