My absolute favorite part is at 2:10 where he lets the crowd finish the line "I'll ride ride the wave...". It sends shiver down my spine every single time.
April 8 1994 - just after Kurt Cobain's death, they opened w/Release at the GMU Patriot Center on a stage full of candles... still gives me chills when I hear this great song. Thanks for posting this... another great performance.
@insaneone5150 lol...ed runs circles over any of the rockers in todays charts..lol..and he is in his 40's..now in his 20's..i dont think there were many who could match him..thats why all these try hard vocalists try to sound like him..lol...creed..nicklebak..hinder..seether..should i carry on..lol
what an unbelievable song. this is probably the best live version i've seen. for eddie to be hitting those notes in his 40's is extremely rare these days.
@mjvedder1 If you think this is great then I'm sure the Arnhem '06 version will blow you away even more! Much better sound and video quality. As an opener you couldn't wish for something more intense and spot on. EV's vocal performance in the Arnhem '06 version has not been leveled by.. well.. the man himself. Enjoy!
they opened with this at the o2 arena in london. it was the first time i'd sen them live and i was blown away. it was goosebumps all over...truely amazing!!
wow, every time I hear this song it never disappoints. So much emotion. Simply amazing. Hard to believe anything this awesome could have been written. What's funny is that the first few times I heard this song I didn't really care for it. Now its one that I will always remember.
Saw them open with this on the VS. tour...amazing opener...no lights on the stage at all....just HUNDREDS of lit candles!!! It blew me away as one of the best openings of a concert I've ever seen. I still get chills remembering the curtain parting in total darkness revealing a stage lit only in candles, and the first notes of Release had everyone going nuts!
anyone who hates on pearl jam, or grunge for that matter, has not heard songs like release, garden, leash, indifference, footsteps or sleight of hand, to name a few...
if they aren't the greatest band ever, they're absolutely among the few best. individually they're excellent musicians, their lyrics are unmatched, and the best part may be what they stand for...
No way bro. I saw him recently and that son of a bitch has lost nothing. Trust me man, go see him live, the man rocks the shit out of most bands these days.
when they opened with this song here in Chile, I remember it was the first time I realized I could scream something so hard that it actually made me shake... RELEASE ME...
