  • Haha, this video of Pearl Jam playing in the 412 area code has 412 likes.

  • I think this song makes us all release the shitty father we had in our lives. to be free of the bs.

  • @ApostastyUK I want this song playing at I approach the gates of Heaven. And I'm an atheist. This song is a drug.

  • My absolute favorite part is at 2:10 where he lets the crowd finish the line "I'll ride ride the wave...". It sends shiver down my spine every single time.

  • i would play this at my funeral definitely ... too bad i cant die

  • Now that is fucking pearl jam!!

  • Awesome version! Thanks for posting.

  • @dvl0000 They almost always open with a calm song, first time I saw them it was Long Road, second time was given to fly :P not as calm but hey!

  • Whoever filmed this was sitting right near me... awesome.

  • me too..this song is just amazing..it is on my funeral list as well..

  • two people cant see verse in the rain...

  • This guys are just admazing live. there are some better bands but these guys just put on a great show.

  • cool

  • I was at this show. LOOOVEEEEED this opening.

  • I remember this........They literally came on stage and ripped this for the opener. They have always played great in Pittsburgh.

  • Beautiful song, great interpretation

  • @insaneone5150 You have absolutely no idea do you? Go back to listening to Cheryl Cole AND his name is Eddie Vedder, not Veter?!?!

  • @insaneone5150 lol...ed runs circles over any of the rockers in todays charts..lol..and he is in his 40's..now in his 20's..i dont think there were many who could match him..thats why all these try hard vocalists try to sound like him..lol...creed..nicklebak..hinder..seether..should i carry on..lol

  • @muziqspumpin Yes, there is a man and his name is Chris Cornell...

  • Yeah! I was there! Bad ass concert! Best one ever I've ever been to. The WHOLE freakin placed ROCKED!

  • Yeah! I was there! Bad ass concert!

  • Nothing more beautiful then when the Crowd sings it

  • what an unbelievable song. this is probably the best live version i've seen. for eddie to be hitting those notes in his 40's is extremely rare these days.

  • @mjvedder1 If you think this is great then I'm sure the Arnhem '06 version will blow you away even more! Much better sound and video quality. As an opener you couldn't wish for something more intense and spot on. EV's vocal performance in the Arnhem '06 version has not been leveled by.. well.. the man himself. Enjoy!

  • I'll ride the wave

    Where it takes me

    I'll hold the pain

    Release me

  • Great song, pure feeling

  • I would love to see this song live. Pearl Jam forever!

  • great voice

  • :'(

(I see the worlds.........I see the birds..)

(I see the words..........I see the verse...)

Hail hail PJ! Thanks in advance.

  • IIIIIIIIIIIIIIII see the world, Feeeeeeeeeel the chill,

whiiiiiiiiich way to go, wiiiiiiiiiiiiindow sill,

IIIIIIIIIIIIIIII see the world, on a rocking horse of time,

IIIIIIIIIIIIIIII see the birds, in the rain,

    OOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHHH

  • I see the world

    Feel the chill

    Which way to go

    Windowsill

    I see the words

On a rocking horse of time

I see the birds in the rain

  • I'll ride the wave where it takes me.

  • ill hold the pain, release me :')

  • Saw them open with this on the VS. tour...amazing opener...no lights on the stage at all....just HUNDREDS of lit candles!!! It blew me away as one of the best openings of a concert I've ever seen. I still get chills remembering the curtain parting in total darkness revealing a stage lit only in candles, and the first notes of Release had everyone going nuts!

  • didn´t the do that in honor for Kurt´s death? that´s what i heard back then. saludos

  • This song has gotten me through some rough time in my life. Thank you eddie vedder

  • anyone who hates on pearl jam, or grunge for that matter, has not heard songs like release, garden, leash, indifference, footsteps or sleight of hand, to name a few...

if they aren't the greatest band ever, they're absolutely among the few best. individually they're excellent musicians, their lyrics are unmatched, and the best part may be what they stand for...

  • .....i see the birds in the rain...... love this fkn song and love this fkn band. 5/5 stars

  • No way bro. I saw him recently and that son of a bitch has lost nothing. Trust me man, go see him live, the man rocks the shit out of most bands these days.

  • maybe i just caught him on a bad day

  • when they opened with this song here in Chile, I remember it was the first time I realized I could scream something so hard that it actually made me shake... RELEASE ME...

such a powerful, powerful song. shakes me every time.

  • They opened with Release in 2003 at the Tweeter Center in Mansfield, MA, and to this day I cannot think of a more spiritual, magical moment in my life.

  • word.

  • that gave me chills

  • 3:30

    yes I do think so

  • This was what they opened with when I first saw them... that haunting, belted and wailing out burst of longing and desire was a real rush for the crowd. I was so lit. Best band.

  • I have no words....

  • One of their most influential, spiritual(not religious) songs. Very powerful!!

    PJ!!!!

  • this song got me throught the toughest time in my life...Pearl Jam rocks

  • If I had to describe this band in one word.... AMAZING

  • Someone synced the video with the audio from the pearl jam site. Was wandering how it sounded so good from an amateur cam. Nice job!

  • really? where can this be seen at?

  • I dont think it's synced- watch the drums.

  • Very, very minutely. I think it's nearly spot on.

  • Yeah I think you're right. Looking back it is off. Good video though regardless. So where is this Live version from?

  • this song is proof that sometimes simple songs are better than the complicated ones

  • i agree man. eddie is very sincere and i hear the sincerity in his music alot. so when ya got that.... you dont need complex

    lyrics to impress. awsome band

  • his word choice is actually pretty precise and groundbreaking, but yea you are definitely right

  • great vid

  • sound was awsome at the dodge center.. we was up on the grass looking down at the screens and could barely see them when we looked down at the stage but it was awsome.

  • I agree with some comments... A nice cold Heineiken ...

  • this is very kick-ass! Nice cup of beer, too!

  • So amazing. Sounds like it's straight off the CD 16 years after it was recorded. Simply amazing.

  • great track~ thnx

  • was there, they rocked, you live in the burgh?

didn't have quite as good of seats.

  • Yes that show did rock! I do live in the burgh. And the fan club seats really worked out and we had great seats. where were you sitting at?

  • looking down on eddies right ear unfortunately, never again i'll pay for better seats, the sound was bad from the side also but anything is better than postgazette pavilion.

  • thank you so much for adding this - my fav!

  • this song has something special and magic...just wow

  • in the wild bushes of kenya we can locate the wild tsiwawa,a rare species of dog indeed its usual habbitat is in borrows it digs underground but here we have a rare sighting of it,oh,wait, its seen us,quick dug run,get in the car, shit its catching up,run dug RUN!!!its to late for me,away you ferocious beast ahhhhh!!!!MY LEG!!!AHHHHHHH!!THE PAIN ,dug shoot me i cant take the pain KILL ME!!!!AHHH MY LEG,

    (dug=cameraman)

  • So uplifting hearing the crowd sing "where it takes meeeee" !

  • Jesus!.. Eddie is out of key!..

    That doesn't happen, often..

  • Eppeone...I'm not sure what you're hearing...I don't hear him out of key at all. He sounds just as good as the cut off of Ten.

Dlocke, this is one of my absolute FAVORITE Pearl Jam tunes. Thanks for the upload. Great sound! One of my favorite lyrics..."I wait up in the dark...so you will speak to meeeeeee..." Eddie's emotion is overwhelming. cheers.

  • ya great sound quality dlocke!

    great job

  • Wonderful song. I'm impressed with the sound quality of the person who recorded this. Well done.

  • I love this song !!!!!

  • pearl jam fuckin rocks!!!!!!!!!!!

  • this sounded awesome at madison square garden when i went on the 24th

  • well im not sure the jesus analogy is what they wrote the song about, considering eddie is atheist.

  • Great struggle Israel had from being released from Egypt? You are a moron. Learn to analogy.

  • Just saw them in D.C. It was awesome, but the Pittsburgh crowd was better when i saw them at this show.

  • I'm seeing them at the Garden next week....damn, do I hope they open up with this song one of the nights.

  • Why, so you can split early?

  • Muy buen video este ^^, pjala vengan a Chile ps

    aiooos!

  • the best song ever by pearl jam

  • amen

  • Its awesome, no doubt, but given to fly is pretty damn incredible.

  • Cool they're still playing this song. This song was the first Pearl Jam ever performed live.

*Check Loose Ground for some new Rock/Grunge*

  • any european tour? i was in Prag it was awesome....eddie is still the best

  • Was at this concert; goin to see them again in DC at the end of June... its gonna be awesome.

  • Great version of a perfect song. Vedder's voice is still spot on. Best band out there, and it is hard to argue that.

  • 2:14 oh......

  • goosepimpley good.

  • 'i wait up in the dark for you to speak to me'

this song is proof humans have a soul. they sing from it and it fills mine

  • frignrob you are so right.

this song gives me faith in humanity - long live Pearl Jam.

  • that line haunts me...

  • I was there...saw this show and I'll never forget it. It was nice to see this again. Made my night. : )

  • I must see them before I die!!

  • yes you do ! i saw them twice already ; going to see them at MSG in new york in June again and I cannot wait- they put on an amazing show. this song is one of my fave :(

  • Can you take me!!?? jk

  • ha ha ! well if you live in ny or close get tix - there still on sale , there playing 2 nights in june - 23 and 24th I think.

  • nah they sold out like the day after they went on sale. i got tix for 6/24 6/25 (both msg) and 6/27 at hartford. cant wait. they are the best band in the world.

  • i 100% agree, been a big fan for a long time ! i figured they would sell out quick, i wanted to see them in Mass too but cant go -but i am sooo freakin excited to see them at msg , thats a great place to see a show.

  • you Yanks are the luckiest people in the entire galaxy...you get to see majestic bands like PJ, with relative ease...been a crazy fan for a long time too..and the closest i can get to experiencing "Jam" is bellowing like a maniac to every PJ song in my 3X5' room ...from an archipelagic location as remote as mine, and being nothin but a humble farmer, i aint got no choice...

  • i am so sorry to hear that. they tour everywhere where is your closest city ? but they are a great band whether or not u can see them live.

  • the closest city to me with the highest probability of a PJ gig happening would be Manila..but the last time they were there mustve been over ten years ago, for their Vitalogy tour i think..but yeah, yer right,so long as an up-close and live Jam experience is beyond my means, i have to be content with all the material available to me.. their music's so transcendental it makes up for the usual undeniable agony of appreciating works of art while knowing yed never meet the ones who made them...

  • lol religious experience? man i love pearl jam but you exaggerate...alot. the sheer sacrelige of that statement it a testiment to it

  • incedibly well put

  • This is such an amazing song...takes my breath away every time I hear it. I agree with crazyjay that it's a religious experience in itself.

  • I saw Aaron Lewis do this son live and he was awesome. Aaron still has the old Eddie Vedder voice...the voice with so much emotion and passion

  • If God himself played music, he would play this. This song is a religious experience in itself.

  • saw PJ at the Fox Theater in Atlanta about 10 years ago. They opened w/Release---the best concert I've ever been to.

  • This song really fits me, and none the less gives me chills each time!

  • nothing like starting a show with this... you know how awesome it's going to be but it still manages to catch you off guard every time.

  • good audio!

  • Sem comentarios pra esse som....

  • I love this song!
