These previous remarks are but trash to me. This film is *not* Love, but Existential Depair in it's most absolute form: a creature from a dark closet. Nothing more.
If we can take the yin/yang symbol of ancient Taoism as an accurate "map" of Reality, and we can, then this short, biting piece reflects that symbol exactly. The playful female lead, and the profoundly sober, wraith-like male lead, emerging from darkness to utter "stop this. stop this." A Fassbinder moment indeed: hopefulness and hopelessness, light-heartedness and somber despair in their utter simultaneity, unfinished completion.
