  • Well, they elected Obama. Sadly, not a hell of a lot has changed.

  • well the truth does hurt for 111 americans...

  • OH man this guy is a genius. I've never heard him talk seriously about anything before. And he's not just funny person he's got a brain in there. HE should have his own news show to counter stupid fox shit that people like my parents eat up like its the universal truth *sigh*

  • ... John Cleese isnt the kind of man to take seriously talking about sophistication xD

  • There is a saying I heard when I was younger which is both bittersweet and completely true. The saying goes:

"If you are under 30 and not a liberal, you do not have a heart. But,

if you are over 30 and still a liberal, you do not have a brain."

I have seen how remarkably true saying is with each passing year. Anyone who fell for the crap put out by obama during his campaign (which has never ended throughout his "presidency") has, by now, stopped and realized how much of a stupid ass they were.

  • @Halo101st LOL. This coming from someone who most likely voted for the village idiot a.k.a. The Shrub, twice! No, if you vote conservative a.k.a. regressive, you're a fool. Unless you're part of the upper 10%. In that case you most definitely want to keep these greedy bastards in power because they are looking out for YOU. It's the morons who THINK they're in the U5%, or have a chance to get there (HA!) that keep voting these amoral hypocrites back into office.

  • @Halo101st Look at the economy after every Regressive president going back to the early 1900s. Recession or worse. How many chances are these dopes going to give them to get it right? "The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results". Which makes these mental midgets abso-effen-lutely bat$hit crazy. Look at the mess the Regressives left this country in in 2008. Need you any more proof?

  • @Halo101st Then you get on the current administration for not cleaning your mess up quickly enough, all the while doing everything in your power to QUOTE Make sure that Obama is a one term president UNQUOTE, regardless the effect on the country! Ya got gall, I'll give ya that. And who's their answer? Newt "the Total Scumbag" Gingich, Mitt "I'll Say Or Do Anything To Get Elected" Romney or Rick "Praise Jesus" Santorum?

  • @Halo101st There are Regressives that still believe Sarah "The Funniest Palin Since Michael" Palin or Michelle "The Bible Is Meant To Be Taken Literally" Bachmann would make a darn fine president. The Supreme Being help us!!

  • @jejozi FOUR posts in a row, none of which make any more sense than the first. Amazing! How did you do that?

Let's see, you missed the '60's 'hippies' by a generation. However, your teachers were all of that genre and you idolized them for their absurd left-wing drivel and now are a closet socialist. You are easily led, buy into media bias because you cannot think for yourself, are disappointed with how your life has gone and blame this country for it. Stop whining.

You bore the hell out of me.

  • @Halo101st Heck of a rebuttal, Dittohead. Blah, blah, blah. Nothing but righteous indignation, hot air and blather. Hoooooow typical.

There's a size limit to an individual post. I needed more space. Now, let's see some of that right wing alleged intelligence and wit. But all I expect is more of the same, cuz the truth hurts, doesn't it. You and yours are greedy SOBs who only think of themselves. Your ideology drives this country into the ground. Always has, always will.

  • @jejozi That was imbecilic. You are 53, act like it.

Name calling and cursing are not the way to win an argument. Matter-of-fact, when a liberal begins to do that, I know I have won because a liberal cannot refute facts and common sense. Instead, they begin making personal attacks and screeching at the top of their lungs as a result. I have seen it all too often.

My "ideology' reflects 73% of the American public at last count.

    You will see in November.

That's it for me, sport, good luck.

  • "And I think it can be almost fixed like that by electing Obama"

    So much for that idea.

  • "....because it indicates that this isn't a fundamentally backwards, Redneck... racist society."

I appreciate the sentiment Mr. Cleese, but speaking as an American, I must respectfully disagree; rational Americans are an oppressed minority.

  • @Halo101st Yet he speaks the truth, none the less. But, censorship IS one of the Regressives planks.

How do ratings prove anything? Just because a bunch of lemmings line up and nod their head doesn't make the garbage spewed by Fox insightful or accurate. The reason you don't see high rated left leaning shows is because Liberals think for themselves, they don't need to look to others for their opinion.

And please source your poll numbers.

  • So what does he think about Obama now? Palin was a parrot? Obama can't even memorize like a parrot-he needs to read it off of a monitor. As for Fox news, ALL news is that exact way, its all opinion. And mostly lies, just mostly liberal lies.

  • @ukulelemike JFC, how long are you Regressives going to beat the telepromter horse? When's the last time a president didn't use one? Oh, yeah, The Shrub didn't, he had the receiver stuffed down is pants. Or was it Chaney's hand up his - - -?

    Here ya go, lemming.

  • Cleese is funny and brilliant as well, and has by far contributed to society. Future MBE?

  • 2:02 makes me so happy

  • John must be so let down by Obama. Yep. He is just another corporatist pig. No offense.

  • At 0:40, not just the rest of the world. Much of America was just as flabbergasted. I certainly was. And yes, everything he said about Fox "News" is true. Including the Murdoch thing, clearly.

  • pretty much the funniest brit i always thought he was a conservative jhon cleese iseven cooler now hogmouse43@gmail.com

  • The US elections. Like X factor, but with terrifying global ramifications.

  • Cleese is absolutely clueless when it comes to American politics. His ignorance makes me cringe.

  • @ilovebiggovernment

In Europe, we try to not be blinded by our ideology.

  • @TheVanOorschot

You realize that you are summarizign up some 50 countries and claiming we as a group aren't "blinded by our ideology"? I don't know how it is in the Netherlands but I know a great deal of Swedes who are both blind and deaf by ideology. (I'm thinking first and foremost of right-wing wannabe-nazis here but I've seen examples all over the political spectra)

  • @aryllia Isn't it hilariously arrogant that a Dutchman is trying to speak on your behalf? He thinks he knows your people better than you do.

  • @ilovebiggovernment Not arrogant but maybe a little Naïve (though this is pretty much a pot calling the kettle black). Believe me, I really wish that VanOorschot was right and that our politicians were completely rational beings. At the very least I wish our local politicians were rational and fair but I happen to have one of them living down the street and thus knows that the case is different.

  • @aryllia

Don't quote me wrongly, please. I said that we try to do so. The political spectrum as we view it in Europe (Maybe excluding the United Kingdom and Ireland) is more complex than the way it is generally viewed in the United States. Also, in most European educational systems, students are learned that societies as we know them are build out of different groups, interests, people and cultures.

  • @aryllia

While in the United States many believe in a country where only one type of "American" exists. Both left and right seem to believe there is only one "true" way to be a decent American citizen. I'm trying to say that there isn't one way of being "European", or "Swedish". You get confronted with different cultures and the need of working together with those who think differently in Europe way more. This has as a consequence that ideology gets weaker and we nééd to look past that.

  • @aryllia

I'd like to summarize it this way: Ideology is a bigger part of life in America. It's an essential part of the American identity. Life in a European country has several faces. I hope I didn't bother you with a reply this long. I wish you a good day and I hope the winter in Sweden will be mild this year.

  • @TheVanOorschot Really? I doubt that.

  • Comment removed

  • @TheVanOorschot In Europe, you remain as you have for centuries upon centuries. Europeans are like sheep and have yet to discard the fiefdom mentality of serf/master. Capitalism, personal freedom, and individual thinking completely baffle you.

  • @Halo101st Americans are certainly baffling, I'll give you that.

  • I FUCKING LOVE THIS MAN.

  • John Cleese is a good actor and I would love to meet him and talk to him for hours on many subjects as he has so many views on stuff

  • too bad John was wrong about Obama....he's right about Bush but Obama is as much of a parrot as Palin is

  • @Rhondar9 I think he tricked a lot of progressive unfortunately, myself included :(

    wont happen again though

  • Great comedian, piss poor political thinker. Insofar as Cleese is a comedian, I have to say there is no reason to take seriously anything he has to say about politics. It's all funny, and not relevant chatter by any means.

  • I like what that " backwards, redneck" Dolly Parton has to say about "equality": " I ain't no better than nobody else, and nobody else is better than me."

  • This world has fallen for the racist musings of an Englishman and his clever argument that some races are more fit than others to survive, more equal in dignity than other men, and therefore more worthy of rulership of the world. This highbrow/lowbrow thing has got to stop; it's killing the human race. Notice not too many GI's stayed in England after WWII, though a bunch took home English wives. Turns out we shoulda stayed and made " Great " Britain a colony.

  • @finishstrongdoc An American man talking about racism makes the expression "pot calling the kettle black" spring to mind, because I find that no matter what, the words "Damn Limey" is never far from your lips. No offence but I've never come across such a load of self serving, xenophobic, arrogant, and even sexual predatory creatures in my life! You want to know how the world sees American men? Watch "The Comedian" in Watchmen. Sorry to be blunt, but your own words prove my point. :)

  • @finishstrongdoc And the name "Great Britain" doesn't come from being wonderful or powerful, but rather from our history (you know, that thing you don't have) of Brittany at one time being a part of Britain.

    Brittany = Lesser Britain

The British Isles = Greater Britain

  • So this dude from out east is riding for pleasure out on the Texas plains. He spies a dusty ol cowpuncher fixin' a fence, rides up to him and, seeing his rather unkempt appearance, asks him, " Is your master about, sir?". The cowboy turns slowly, tilts his battered Stetson back, eyeballs the dude and says, " That son of a bitch ain't been born yet."

  • I love your comedy. I love your opinion on Palin. But i really disagree with this. Sure Bush wasn't a good president, but he was a hell of a lot better than Al Gore or John Kerry would've been. He was the lesser of two evils. And Obama hasn't done shit to help us. In my opinion things have gotten worse. He's too pussy to stand his ground and gets pushed around by Boehner and the Republicans.

  • @AstatinePsycho Im sorry, and I know its all history now, but i think it is hilarious and also a little bit scary that you think George W Bush was a better president than AL Gore would have been. If we have many people who think like yourself in this country, China would not be a bad alternative.

  • love your comedy, john, but stay the hell in your own country's politics. You guys fucked up your country with your socialist crap. how long does it take to see a dentist???? bush is not a good president ,but odummy is a nightmare and determined to wreck the U.S. What's left after we fall, John? China? That'll be fun.

  • @Dreder7914 Right away if you go private, just like in the US. Out of work and got no money? Then every 6 months for a check up. Out of work and got no money in the US? A big fat NOTHING.

  • Educated and experienced people like John Cleese know a lot about people.. That's the main condition for humour to exist. Therefore we should care for their opinions., especially those who decide over people.

  • Let's honest here; first it was Bush v Gore. Gore wore a different personality every time he showed his face while Bush was always the same person. And Gore is a habitual liar on the ecosystem. Then there was Bush against the other bloke. Still no choice. Anybody who thinks that Presidents and Prime Ministers run their nations now, are living in La La Land.

  • @TheNakedWombat It's the power behind the throne that runs our countries.

  • Well, john baby,...you need to snap those fingers a few more times as it aint fixed and it won't be any time soon. Maybe we should try going to the Euro ?....you guys over there seem to have some brilliant ideas.

  • @ChuckaXr lol Anything but the Euro! Why do you think we didn't join it! The Euro's so useless it's about to cave in even as I type this. It'll be lucky to survive the Greeks, Italians and the Spanish. I think the Germans and a lot of us English would love for it to fail. I know I would.

  • right on :)

  • Do you think the European Union might accept the liberal parts of the US, like the Northeast? I mean, we've got a much closer worldview to Europe than we do to the crazy superstitionists in the South and Midwest.

  • only because im a republican. <3

Mr. Cleese, I love you to death but instead of insulting us, a bit, give us some advice on how to fix our economy after obama destroyed it…. actually- he wouldent know that after all because this was made in '08…. and we all believed in obama at the time. :(

We do agree on one thing though:

Sarah Palin is a nut job.

  • @flutewarrior1 ah damn the two party system.....obama was simply the straw that broke the camel's back.

  • @andrewdeangelo1 AMEN!

  • @flutewarrior1 flute warrior....i take you to be a jethro tull fan.....right on,brother. people here in the US have no clue what bipartisanship is,lets wake em up.

  • @andrewdeangelo1 hahaha I get that all the time! :D no i never heard them once!

    ~ if only we could!

    (ps. I am a sister)

  • @flutewarrior1 RIGHT ON SISTER

  • @flutewarrior1 the solution is right in front of your eyes. Everyone on Earth is very happily protect their own economy from foreign imports. Take Japan for example, if Japan were to operate like America (free trade and all that), Japanese cars, radio, VCR, LCD screens, PC ... would have been flatten by now. But they weren't. The reason is Japan shielded those from American imports and export theirs.

In contrast, you see Made in China iPhones. It's cheaper, sure; but you have no job

  • @flutewarrior1 you may want to read Edward Luttwak's "the endangered American dream". His theory explains America quite well. He's a neo-conservationist but his solution are quite radical, by American standards, of course.

  • @ImEternalWanderer i will put it on the reading list. thanks :)

  • @flutewarrior1 You do know that the economy was going down the shitter before Bush left office, right?

Also, how is this Obama's fault? The President's job is to sign bills into law and address the public during hard national times. Congress politicians could not go all the way with the stimulus package, with health care reform, and raised the debt ceiling.

And notice that republicans can't agree on anything. The reps would rather see America burn than Obama accomplish something.

  • @RockerHeade lol and yet that doesn't excuse all the shit in the economy since. the mans not in office anymore yu cant blame him for shit happening today when hes prolly sitting around his property drinking something and writing/reading a book. yes i know but the news is out he wrote a book

  • @flounder2760 Actually, yes I can blame Bush even now. Want to know why? He's the reason we're in this mess to begin with. Do you know what the President's job is? To sign bills into law. Congress is required to create and vote on bills and so far, no one has put forth anything of real significance. That's hardly one man's fault alone.

News flash, big names/faces write books and have biographies written. It's not new. Writing a book in spare time is better than golfing at the beginning of a war

  • @flounder2760 Fuck yeah, I can blame Bush you blinded moron. What, you think these repercussions happened over night? BUSH lowered taxes while starting a war and put us in a recession. The economy has been going down since then and you expect me to pin the blame on Obama? Fuck that.

The source of this issue is the man who put us in this spot, not the guy who wants to fix it but is being held up by psychotic right-wingers every single time he addresses the issue.

  • @flutewarrior1 The thing is, Mr. Bush was in power when your economy was being ruined.

  • @Bubo25 and Obama is in power when the economy is getting even worse.....

  • @flutewarrior1 Trouble is, it's like trying to drive a car that's been driven into the middle of nowhere then run out of fuel. Have you tried to drive a car that's out of fuel and there's no fuel within 100+ miles? That's what Obama's trying to do, drive a car that's out of fuel stuck in the middle of nowhere. Don't get me wrong though, I don't like any politician, but Bush was the one who was driving the car at the time.

  • @Bubo25 He's had over 3 years to find a gas station and has just managed to start car on fire and is now needs water to put it out, but someone just came by with gas and he wants to throw that on the fire. To late now to say "Bush did it"

  • it's a shame we had to elect all those republicans to congress

  • Yeah Barrack fixed everything, but I'm glad we proved we weren't racists to the rest of the world. I mean that is the point of our elections. So you don't like what someone says on an OPINION show, so don't watch. There are many other channels. I loved when people made fun of Glenn Beck you'd think he was on the only channel they had on their TV. lol John is a funny guy, but I don't think he knows any more than anyone else.

  • @NJburbsSeeker Well put.

  • @NJburbsSeeker It's dangerous to let extremists say whatever they want. Fox News is a propaganda station posing as a news outlet. You don't think there's anything wrong with that?

About Obama, if you guys had elected McCain/Palin you really think things would be better?

  • @Aronia55 Is ignorance painful?

  • @Halo101st You tell me

  • @Aronia55 How pithy and original a reply. Typical liberal response.

  • @Halo101st You thought your comment was original..?. Adres what I said in the original post, you're the one acting like a stereotype.

'You wait for the Americans to bail you out or show you how to get out from under your debt created by moronic economic practices that have been proven wrong over the centuries.'

Wtf, America is doing worse than Greece when it comes to debt per capita.

  • @Aronia55 To be fair, most American news stations are propaganda machines. We're not "letting" extremists say what they want; the solution to Fox News is not for Obama to take Fox News off the air. That's incredibly dangerous.

"About Obama, if you guys had elected McCain/Palin you really think things would be better?"

    Great reelection campaign!

  • Oh look, John. Obama kept us in Iraq and Afghanistan and started yet another war. Not the game-changer you spoke of that would make the US respectable. Your accent is the only quality you have resembling intelligence.

  • @EzerEben I think he was talking more about rhetoric, which Obama seems to be good at. He kinda treats other nations with respect and doesn't say stupid shit like "you're either with us or the terrorists"

  • you are so right mr.cleese.but i don't think you will be asked to any tea bag events

  • I wish john cleese could be president of the us

  • Obama is still another puppet, just on a different string, but still pulled by the same master. Look behind the face who they say lead, look deeper and deeper and....awwwhhh, there it is; Wall st criminals and elite families....whoops I said it!!...lol!

  • @0:17 "The World thought, well it was probably stolen..."

    hahahaha... good comment.

  • i think ghwb was the head of the CIA, not the secret service.

john cleese makes very good points.

  • It seems to me John Cleese is giving Sarah Palin too much credit. This 'beautiful parrot' is not capable of even memorising her speeches properly, let alone understanding them. She seems to regurgitate phrases she half-remembers in any sort of chaotic order, and yet expects to be taken seriously.

  • Comment removed

  • One of Cleese's early MP sketches had him raving against communism. 'Dirty red scum' he called them.

    My, how he's changed...

  • @Slyrr7 ehrm, wasn't that his CHARACTER raving?

  • John you are the man, you not only have a massive intellect, wonderful wit and a true presence verses some one like G W Bush who has none of these qualities.

  • @christl301 Well aside from the one million dead Iraqis and thousands of American men and women sent to fight a war for gain. Trashing the economy and the constitution .... bush was funny to watch when he screwed up.

  • @ETericET Yes truly man of the people just a shame the bottom 10%. I fine it incomprehensible that Bush dodged the Vietnam war but was happy to send thousands of America to an unwindable war.

  • @christl301 For the most part they were all chicken hawks. They knew nothing about war and when a career officer told them something they didn't want to hear they were discredited and fired.

  • @christl301

Odd isn't it, that British comedians, actors, etc. seem to have the wit and intellect that American ones lack...

  • @karik333 Why is that odd?

  • @MowgliX

Well, it just seems to me that most English actors/actresses got where they are through years of training and study, whereas mast American actors are famous because of looks...

  • @karik333 Maybe, and I'm not arguing with you. However, I think it's more the times we live in at the moment more than the national origin of the actors. There are many really great American actors living now, of course, but so very few really *good* movies made, if you know what I mean. I'm saying, who will watch the crap films they make now in 20, 30 or 40 years, and who cares about quality now?

  • @MowgliX

That's also true. By the way, I meant only to criticize most American actors, not all.

  • @karik333 you have no idea how right you are and how much I hate the fact that you're right. I mean come on! I could act Kevin Bacon under a table any day of the week and the bastard still makes millions. what the Shakespeare!?

  • @karik333 not all actors get chosen because of good looks. actually, very few of them do. most people actually do go through years of training and study. All the ones people care about any way....

  • @karik333 I agree, although I'm seeing a slow and unfortunate equalization on the part of the UK :-/ when you watch some older BBC stuff the difference is even more striking

  • @karik333 Welcome to the basic difference between the countries :P

England = generally favour an educated person

America = generally favour anyone who looks good and talks about jesus.

  • @WirlWind494 That is patently ridiculous and only the British see themselves in that fashion. British politicians are no smarter than anyone else. Great Britain is in the process of losing her identity to Indians, Africans, and Arabs who are becoming more populous on the streets than the anglo-saxon Britisher. In talking about a country with problems, you find the U.K. at the top of the list.

  • @christl301 nor you for that matter. =X

  • That's funny.. I thought that very same thing about Rupert Murdoch.

  • ok maybe obama didnt do that well. bush wasnt any better, Mc.Kain would have sucked. when you come to think about it, JFK was one of the good presidents, he was killed. And Abraham lincoln was a good president, he was also killed. So, in other words. DOWN WITH SMART POWERS, MORE CHURCHES; LESS EDUCATION.

  • Very perceptive.

  • Faith is a choice. Fake it 'til you make it, babe!

  • Isn't Cleese's senility hilarious?

  • @torchwoody58

Exactly, you can barely understand the point he is trying to make.

  • @JamesThompson92 Really? Wow.

  • @smrt606 yes really. i suggest you take a real hard look at the liberal media before i rip you a new one.

  • Please correct me if I'm wrong, but it seemed like one of the statements he made was basically saying that conservative ideals are fantasies. Now, if that is what he was saying, I'm not going to bash his opinion by calling him stupid, or anything like that, because he is quite a smart man. However, conservative approaches to economics are much more realistic than liberal approaches. The reason I say that is, even though liberals sometimes have great ideas about how to make the economy better,

  • @iluvme4never they don't always seem to realize that we can't afford to pay for their projects. The USA is already trillions of dollars in debt, yet some people seem to think that we can afford these lofty projects. If the US seemed like it was in a position to pay off most of that debt, then perhaps some of these ideas would be good, however, we just aren't in a good position to make these work.

  • I love John Cleese but he shows an appalling amount of ignorance here. Arrogance too.

  • @TheSidewalkCipher The only one who's masterfully combining arrogance and ignorance here is you.

  • @TheSidewalkCipher Good answer! Way to keep it below two syllables.

  • @blindthrall

    Thanks.

    ...

    ;]

  • Who's the village idiot now?

  • I'm never going to understand this animosity towards Fox News (which had WHAT to do with the topic of Obama?). It's one single entity against god-knows-how-many-other "balanced" news media outlets. What kind of threat do they pose to the collective American consciousness, who can easily change the channel if they so choose?

But yes, Obama IS the right man for the job. Let's give him a Nobel prize just because we're of that opinion! ^_^

  • Animosity is not the word. The point is that News is supposed to mean something. If you are suggesting other staions are as bias as Fox you are wrong. All surveys of the media show that news organizations which are deemed liberal are only slightly liberal, and right wing organizations are VERY biased. Saying you can switch the channel is ridiculous. We are not saying they do not have the right to say what they say, just that they should not have the right to call it news. It is called lying.

  • Bias is Bias. If we're supposed to think that Fox is lying because of their stance/views on an issue, how can we know who's telling the real truth when every other news outlet is also providing THEIR stance/views on said issue?

And Fox News must mean SOMETHING to people in terms of delivering actual news, or else we wouldn't see the rest of the media try to discredit it. How many newspapers do you see trying to take the Weekly World News down a peg?

  • @Bobzeaux IS jaywalking equal to murder because they are both against the law. The rest of the media is not trying to discredit FOX. (Any Proof or is that they way you feel?)

You missed the entire point. If a story is reported and the news man states 3 things which seem to support the right and 4 things which seem to support the left, that is called left bias.

If they say 5 things to support the right and none to support the left, that is right wing bias and they are in no way equal.

  • watch?v=E_Wkgu2pUlE

And again, what does this Fox News rant have to do with Cleese's opinion on Obama?

  • @Bobzeaux nice try at dodging the questions.

  • 1. I provided proof, per your request.

    2. If it's wrong for Fox to express their opinions, so too is it for everyone else, be it subtle or overt.

    3. If you're going to comdemn someone for dodging questions, it would do you well to avoid doing that yourself.

  • @Bobzeaux Who said we are supposed to think FOX news is lying because of it's stance? Do you just imagine this stuff? They are lying because they deliberately say falsehoods.

And just because a lot of people watch it, it doesn't make it news.

"Bias is bias" is a dumb thing to say. If I jay walk and you murder, would we say , breaking the law is breaking the law? Seriously, you need to think about what you say before saying it.

  • @ihatespam2

"We are not saying they do not have the right to say what they say, just that they should not have the right to call it news. It is called lying."

The 'it' in this case was the news according to their political viewpoint (which is all that I was talking about in the first place), so in answer to your question of 'who said that Fox is lying because of their stance?' is a very simple one; YOU.

  • @Bobzeaux "News from a political point of view" is not really news.

Again you avoid my point. There is news which is, let's say "less biased."

You must admit that. And according to media experts FOX is extreme bias. As are most right wing outlets. Do the research.

Saying everything is equal is simply wrong.

  • @ihatespam2

So there ARE news outlets that are biased, but them being more subtle about their bias validates them more as news than those are less shy about it?

You're right in saying that everything is equal is simply wrong; apparently it's a sin for Fox to lean to the right, while it's perfectly acceptable for virtually every other outlet to lean to the left.

(Still waiting for a coherent connection between Obama and the Fox diatribe here, since we're on the topic of avoided points.)

  • @Bobzeaux - You're talking with liberals and you're expecting a reasoned (and reasonable) discussion? I'm not familiar with the planet on which that happens. Remember: in this liberal world you are correct ONLY if you lean heavily to the left, in which case you are a moderate.

  • @ihatespam2

"And just because a lot of people watch it, it doesn't make it news."

Couldn't that arguement easily be made about ANY news show?

"If I jay walk and you murder, would we say , breaking the law is breaking the law?"

Breaking the law IS breaking the law. Does different sentencing based on the severity of the crime somehow make that less true?

(Speaking of thinking about what you say before you say it, you REALLY want to open up an argument that's been dead for 5 months? -_-)

  • @ihatespam2

And I'm STILL trying to figure out what Cleese's mentioning of Fox News has anything to do with the importance of Obama being elected. What does one have to do with the other?

  • I agree.

  • How much money has Cleese made in America? How many copies of the Holy Grail and Faulty Towers have been sold in America? Fuck you you limey prick.

  • Fuck you Cleese

  • @bleekblock The truth hurts doesn't it,

  • @ihatespam2 Obama is carrying out Jimmy Carter's second term. He will be a one term president. Only then will Cleese sell more copies of Faulty Towers at Walmart and Best Buy.

  • John Cleese is a comedian. Never ran a business. Never ran a government.

    That says enough.

Like many that make things up for a living, thinks magical thinking will make everything ok if we all do it together. Thats all we need.

Thats why he has a manager and almost every actor/performer has one.

    They have no common sense.

  • @ROBERT195911577 typical simpleton response. Ad hominem.

  • @ihatespam2 My guess is you are young, not likely to have created any jobs or had people depend upon you for anything material. When you do, your world view will change. America's best presidents have been very unpopular in Europe. obama is in over his head and it is showing. Never managed anything. The presidency is about management. obama is about ideology and he cares not about American opinion.Oratory ability is no substitute leadership and maturity.

  • @ROBERT195911577 Well, again you are very wrong. I am fifty and have worked for several large corporations. Clearly your bad assumptions have lead you down many wrong conclusions. I realize you and your ilke despise education and think Bushs failed business experience (given to him by his parents) makes him qualify, but that is ridiculous. Maybe if you traveled the world and read more your world view will change.

  • @ihatespam2 If I am wrong regarding your age, then I stand corrected. That does not change how little you know about Bush and how much less you seem to know about obama.

I dont need to travel to know what I know and I read plenty.

It is clear that obama has no managerial experience and is no more than an orator, legislator and community organizer. Not desirable traits in a leader. His pol numbers will continue to fall and he will not get re-elected. The goal now is to limit the damage.

  • @ihatespam2 One more thing. Having "worked" for many large corporations is not the same as being self employed or creating jobs in the private sector. If the way you describe yourself is correct, you never put your capital & time at risk and suffered the consequences or reap the benefits. I have. There is wisdom to be gleaned from failure that people who dont take risks cannot learn. That is where leadership is learned. obama looks over his head, thin skinned and at times sophmoric.

  • @ROBERT195911577 "I don't need to travel to know what I read" "Obama has no experience" any hypocricy here?

If the way you describe yourself is correct" yeah right, I am lying. Many (financially)successful people I know work less hard and convienently forget the breaks they have had. Maybe if you had more actual experience instead of reading you would be more qualified to have an opinion.

You state your opinions as if they are categorical facts. An unconstructive way of learning and a clue.

  • @ROBERT195911577 That says nothing at all.

Equating him as a comedian to your idea of magical thinking is a lame attempt to shoe horn a concept where it does not belong.

And your pathetic stereotyping clearly identifies you as a non-thinking, pre-judging biased remedial person.

  • @ihatespam2 Really? What evidence do you have to support the opposition to my opinion that performers are proned to magical thinking. There are thousands of videos of actors, writers etc. saying and doing things that do not exactly inspire confidenc in their world view. I happen to be a rabid Python fan. That doesnt however mean that I agree with their politics. I assure you , they are all different, some right, and John is clearly left. Graham Chapman is of course dead.

  • you don't know politics at all, so shut the fuck up!

  • This sociaist jerk on laughing gas is nothing but a peice of useless trash. He knows absolutly nothing of Government, Culture or Ecconomics. Obama has spent more than all of the presidents combined, slashed the deffense budget, destroyed our economy with the help of the Democrat hacks in Congress. But "Oh we have to elect Obama because he's HALF black so that we don't look like racists". This stupid jerk face needs to shut up.

  • @TheMadMusicMan spent more then all of the presidents combined? you realize that if you have to lie to prove a point (or told to lie) then that pretty much cancels any credibility whatsoever. So heres some facts, though im not an economist. It is mandatory for a president to spend 2 and a have trillion. Obama has spent a wopping.....3 and a half trillion. Hmm. Bush, on the other hand, spent 25 TRILLION. so in conclusion, you are stupid.

  • @rurbert You know, those beer cans are pretty darn smart. Besides, all this statement actually proves is that you have a smaller IQ than a beer can.

  • Thats bad when John Cleese lays it all down on the pavement, and me being an American can't help but agree with his reasoning...what has been said that isn't true?

  • John Cleese is in favor Barack Obama, Eddie Izzard claimed he would've voted for Obama, if he could've, and Tom Lehrer voted for Obama... To me, that said something about Obama being the right guy for the job... Now, if only the rest of America could realize that as well and not counter-work him in every issue he tries to see through.

  • @GrahamChapman

you really base your opinion solely on the opinion of celebrities? You are more of an ignorant fool than Palin.

  • No, I base my opinion on what people who actually have something in their heads say, me, myself, and I included... In case you don't know Tom Lehrer, his philosophy about satire can be summed up with his own words: "If, after hearing my songs, just one human being is inspired to say something nasty to a friend, or perhaps to strike a loved one, it will all have been worth the while." ... I don't expect something like you to understand what he meant by those words, though.

  • @GrahamChapman

You should only care what YOU think. Don't let others think for you, even a little bit. "Those who sacrifice liberty for security deserve neither." You should look up the fallacy of Argument from Authority. It does not matter if the smartest person in the world said something, if it is not in line with the facts, it is wrong.

  • If you think that your opinions are your own, you're deluding yourself. Every single opinion you have was put into your head by someone else. What's important is understanding WHY you agree with the opinions you have... Fyi, my opionions were there before John, Eddie or Tom put them there. I just take note when others are of opinions similar to mine, and use their experience and words in order to better formulate and comprehend my own perspectives. No thought is new under the sky.
