  • my friend Aaron moved to Portland five years ago,now I see why,he was always Portland weird.

  • I live RIGHT between seattle and portland! >.< Good ol' yakima!!

  • I live in Seattle and HATE Portland. This show is terrific though...

  • this show makes me want to visit Portland

  • >w< ive lived in portland...and im a half emo otaku that never leaves the house and draws all day.

    my age is 11

  • This is hilarious. I've lived here On the Oregon coast since 87 and these hipsters cyclists and Greenine. music junkies, just crack me up .... even before I saw these videos. all they are doing is exagerate whats already funny.

Oh yeah I can see a bit of myself in some of these characters.......

  • Can I have a falafel with hot sauce, a side order of Baba Ghanoush and a seltzer, please?

  • "Hippies don't die, they move to Oregon."

  • @Mjayne714 *hipsters

  • @hollywoodsevil707 Your username just makes me think that.

  • Love this show. I've been in Portland since I was 2. And when traveling to CA and WA, I miss the Portland stereotypes. I think the people complaining just don't realize that its a good thing. We don't have the CA blonde girl with a small dog in her purse, we don't have the NJ big hair and fake tan. Our stereotype is book worms, glasses and music junkies. I know it not everyone here, but you have to be pretty proud of it!

  • the people who keep trying to "defend" Portland are exactly the people this show is making fun of....can people not laugh at themselves! this show is beyond funny!!!!!!!!!

go find out where your chikens came from and leave the res

t of us to laugh at you over pretensious idiots....

  • the people who keep trying to "defend" Portland are exactly the people this show is making fun of....can people not laugh at themselves! this show is beyond funny!!!!!!!!!

  • I loved the episode about the chicken named Collin. That's the obsessive side of our "green" city. I work at a local grocery chain and deal with these types all the time. As for the hipsters, I hate them and avoid that area of town. It's not like they are everywhere. I moved here from Boulder, CO because I found the diversity of people and landscape incredible. The natives are the best people I've ever known. Believe me, 19 years in a rude, competitive, upper class WHITE city sucks.

  • GSL

  • Please people don't look at this show and think this is what portland's all about.I moved to portland when I was 4 and can't think of going anywere else.Wanna' know the truth about Portland.

1:Home of the TrailBlazers,Winterhawks,Ducks,Beavers, and now Timbers

    2:Freindly people in Portland

3:Home of the 2 time world rap champion Illmaculate

4:Portland has a lot of PRIDE

  • @SeparateProductions dont forget, good weed, beer, wine, food, etc, etc....lol

  • @hillypop6725 smd...

  • This show is like if Pitchfork produced The Whitest Kids U Know.

  • @escapedfromoregon No one really cares about your gay ass life events in portland. Just stfu and stop talking about my hometown bitch

  • Wow, fuck this show and its bad acting. Let me just say, this show makes portland look bad. Not funny at all.

  • @CommandoX11 It's okay, Ever since southpark came out a lot of people think Colorado is made up of a bunch of shit cowtowns. You just learn to laugh with it.

  • can i still win the all expenses paid trip to Portland Oregon that i saw advertised on this show, if i already live there?

  • This is so dead on that it's not even funny. Seriously, it's not funny.

  • Resteep LOVES this stuff!

  • is it true that mike dirnts mom lives in portland?

  • I am a PORTLAND NATIVE. I remember a time when Tom Peterson would wake you up in the middle of the night, a buzz cut was cool and the "Pearl" was a warehouse district you didn't walk in alone. They used to tell us that someday people would move here from all over, little did we know that meant every slacker kid from graphic design school in the US. I'll take the influx of Californians from the 80's any day over some 22 year old dumpster diver with no ambition over the next $1 pabst.

  • pfft who looks at crosswalk signs?

  • @YeuxDaigle Canadians.

  • Anyone know the name of the song?

  • ummmm soo when are they gonna do something on how a lot of us in portland eat Gluten free?

  • i feel so weird.I was bor in new york but raised in portland and it is so hippyish and weird lol

  • one thing i didnt see in this show are all the cracked out black people that just hang out on the streets constantly.last time i went to portland, i lost all my money gambling with some black dude claiming to have the fastest hands on the east coast.

  • Oh my god. Carrie Brownstien from Sleater-Kinney?!

  • This made me despise Portland, to be quite honest. I'm sure when I get to see the actual place my opinion will change considerably, but the Portland I see on that show makes me want to punch someone in the face with Brass knuckles.

  • @Koiyuki it's not really this extreme. This is a parody, meant to be taken tounge in cheek.

  • @baboonloveforu yur dumb as fuck

  • Does anyone know what song is playing in the background?

  • just got back from P-land and i don't give a F about this gay ass show , however , it seems like every yuppie there is a swinger and none of them are really attractive. the lesbians are pretty butchy too. i'm gonna move there as soon as i sell a buncha shit on e-bay and get a new timing belt for my jetta .

  • This is my hometown, which I plan to move back to in the next four years, and I full-heartedly agree that this is just what portland is like! Dear lord, maybe this show will sustain me until I move back.

  • lol Lake Oswego here, you guys are poor fags!

  • Portland, my city of origin, to which I frequently return, has plenty of "material" to make a Sustainable comedy series:

    - Here you can make a living repairing Birkenstock shoes!

    - The city doesn't believe in de-icing streets in the winter for fear of damaging weeds and grass lining roadways!

    - Bike huggers rule - paying no road taxes, road laws appear to be 'suggestions'!

    - Chop down a tree without a permit - you is in big trouble!

    - Friendliest people anywhere, but are lousy drivers

    LuvYa

  • Finally someone makes a show about how awesome/weird Oregonians are. I live in Eugene, Oregon! Almost as weird as Portland is lol. I went to a concert in Portland and there was this crazy lady yelling at people, a nasty rustic porno theater (paris theater), and this fucking black bum kept following me and my friends around asking us for 50 cents lol.

  • Comedy: No. Horror-Documentary: Yes.

  • yep this is portland. Bunch of weird liberal faggots. Thanks Oregon for giving me nothing back on my tax return

  • @sedative3145 You're welcome! Oregonian pride, bitch :)

  • gresham sucks, but so do most of the pdx suburbs! as an aside, i would love to see will arnett and david cross make appearances.

  • I lived in Beaverton, worked at Tektronix, and now I really regret not spending more time in PORTLAND! I so miss Saturday Market...

  • I lived in Oregon my whole life. Are we really this weird?? LOL

  • hilarious!

  • @PriscillaRelentless - I remember the days when Gresham was quasi-respectable, middle-class suburbia. Times have changed, huh? Last time I was back in Oregon I drove through my old neighborhood and almost started crying.

  • why would it even be picked up by a channel ? ..gross..

  • this looks absolutely disgusting and offensive to me.

  • i live here, and all the scenes from the waterfront that they show are all places me and my buddies go during our summers and weekends. im a junior in high school :)

  • i need to got to portland

  • this show seriously isn't funny. i feel like im watching juno all over again

  • If you think traffic is bad in Portland, you've never spent time in a real city...

  • Portland is awesome.

  • Please let them get Extremo on the show.

  • It is sad that most of the media attention Portland gets is about the freaks that reside there. There are normal people in the Suburbs, but downtown is a major freak show. I avoid downtown unless I am forced to go there for my job. Then you have to get there before 7:00am to find a parking spot.. The traffic flow is a joke, it takes about 15 minutes to drive 5 blocks. Then if you have to go around the block, you might have to drive 8-10 blocks before you can turn. What a mess!

  • @drivewizard fuckin suck it up. I lived their my whole life and not once have someone try to sell me crack. Only thing about portland that annoys the hell outta me is the Bums. They are everywhere in portland.

  • No, I don't agree that this represents Portland. It's the obnoxious imaginings who want the world to be something which I'm glad to say it isn't. Get a life.

  • I hope the show also showcases the racism that defines Portland/Oregon. One of the highest collections of KKK splinter groups in the country, some of the most violent white supremest groups in the country, 7th highest hate crime states (raw numbers not per capita) acdording to the FBI with 80% of those being race based. White liberals in denial is Portland. Outside of that gripe the show looks to be very funny.

  • @sfrber2003 actually the splinter groups are located in the suburbian areas around Portland but the city itself is known as one of the most tolerant places in the country. Portland proper is different from suburbia.

  • To everyone watching this video: If you don't already know, the complete first episode of Portlandia is on Hulu, free. I watched it, and I must say, it was better than I expected. The setting is just that, a setting, it is not the premise or focus of the entire show. Sure there are jabs that only rainbrains would understand, but the show is just an over the top, almost cartoonish sketch show, and I thought the first episode was great.

  • I was born and raised here for almost 19 years and this is EXACTLY how Portland is. I thought every other city was like Portland as well until I started traveling. Portland is unique and I look forward to watching these episodes.

  • I used to live in Portland. This is SO true. XD

  • Wow. As a lifetime resident of Portland, I didn't realize just how yuppy-fied and pretentious this place has become. Barf.

  • A strange mixture of extremely funny and not funny at all. Both borderline brilliant and borderline annoying. I'll watch another episode.

  • Confessions of a recovering rainbrain (true story):

A bunch of years ago, me and my Portlander friend were sitting in his living room on a bright, early summer morning, wondering what we both should do with a full tank of gas and a day off.

Me: "How about beautiful Columbia Gorge?"

Him: "Naaah, been there a bunch of times already."

    (silence)

Him: "How about Silver Falls State Park with the seven-mile hike of georgous waterfalls?"

Me: "Naah, been there, done that."

    (silence)

  • Me: "Maybe we can drive to the coast?"

Him: "You know how many times I've been to the coast by now?"

    (silence)

Him: "How about Mt. St. Helens?"

    Me: "Seen it."

    (silence)

    Me: "How about Mt. Hood."

    Him: "Naaaaaaah.

Very long silence ensues as we both try to think of yet another amazingly beautiful place within driving distance of Portland. Then, all of a sudden...

    (continued)

  • Me: "Dammit, dude, why don't we just BOTH drive to the AIRPORT and fly to the worst part of DETROIT? Geez! All these places the tourists pay tons of money to get to, pro photographers envy all these places we get to live near... then there's us, so goddamned bored with them all!"

Him: "Well, Detriot would be different at least."

  • hipsters would be like.... portland is mainstream now. and they move to.... obscure omaha.

  • I only have basic cable.. do I get IFC? What channel is that in Portland? LOL, yes, I'm another crazy person from Portland.

  • THIS LOOKS SO WEIRD BUT AWESOME AT THE SAME TIME

  • Comment removed

  • i live in portland, and i LOVE it.

  • Why is everyone offended? This is like, exactly what Portland is like. It's weird as fuck, there are hipsters everywhere that migrated from California and Seattle, everyone here is either super-conservative or super-liberal.

But to be honest, it's really fun living here. Can't wait for the show. <3

  • Then one day... there you are... skulking in a dark corner at Powells... carrying a Henry Weinhards 6-pack in a cloth grocery bag... stuffing your face with an organic hummus-and-sprouts pita bread sandwich... listening to some goth girl reciting poetry as you silently contemplate going somewhere, anywhere... except you've already seen everything within a 2 hour radius over a zillion times... then it dawns on you: Congrats! You have become a RAINBRAIN! AAAAHHHH!!!

    Welcome to Portland.

  • @EscapedFromOregon funny posts, I have found that I've become more optimistic since I left Portland. I'm also less opinionated too. All in all it's a great place. It's isolation from the rest of the US help and hurt it at times.

  • @EscapedFromOregon You post a lot of stuff, may I ask why?

  • @EscapedFromOregon You're so right and lucky not to be here.

  • Ah yes... I remember living in Portland... I had no idea how utterly insidious it would be. It's what you become when you live there for too long... the constant, gray, misty rain slowly soaking into your soul over the years and you don't ever realize it... you just end up with this vague negativity slowly seeping into your opinions and choices in life as you isolate yourself in your basement or the nearest coffeeshop because it's always raining so darn much outside... (continued)

  • OMFG... I see rainbrains... RAAAAINBRAAAAAINS!! (cue horror movie music)

That's like the n-word for Pacific Northwesterners - especially Portlanders. Rainbrains! They're EVERYWHERE!

    They're like frikkin' Portland-born zombies!!!

  • So accurate.

  • stop talking about pot it's not what portland is about

were about FUCKING hipsters on unicycles, coffee shops, books, bands, and culture

  • @rivergirlre Minus the hipster and that's my kind of place

  • @rivergirlre "stop talking about pot it's not what portland is about"

Hahahahahah - snort. Dude - we legalized pot for "medicinal" uses (like anxiety for instance). Ask anyone on the street the last time the burned up and it'll be within 5 days. Any time I got to a movie there's at least one baked person withing 5 people of me.

Portland LOVES the pot man! legalize 4evahhhh! (idiots). This state would be permanently baked if given the option and the way they fight for it.

  • This gotta be the worst trailer I've ever seen, not because the show looked bad, but because I could actually not see or get an idea of what the show is about. Anyway, I'm gonna watch the pilot

  • @Dexterprog Look up "thunderant." I suspect the humor is maybe a bit more dry than it's going to be in Portlandia, but it pokes fun at Portland and is done by the same people.

  • Oh, my lost love Portland! I was living there as a "retired" young person in the early 90's. Of course, Portland was even more Portland at that time. Rent was cheap and The Pearl was a bunch of empty warehouses that bands could practice in for almost nothing. I left Never Never land to take a job...of course it was an Americorps job, but I needed a bridge from waitressing to the real world! What was I thinking! Don't change PDX, I'll make it back home to you someday...

  • I live in Vancouver which is 2 minutes north of Portland and I hope this show gets into how amazing the pot is out here. It's becoming America's pot location. Forget what you heard about Cali and BC. It's the city of roses. Home of the Purple Kush.

  • @LoveStonedJosh Nothing matches Humboldt.

  • @LoveStonedJosh lol, ive had oregon weed. it doesnt compare to what we have in california. And I liked in portland for 17 years, 7 of those smoking weed.

  • @apnigga It's still great duder. Enjoy the smoke down there though. What kinda smoker would I be to hate on what you're burnin on. Haha perhaps I've changed in 7 months. Obviously still burnin though.

  • Portlandia was the name of a Portland Dungeons and dragons meetup group. They stole the name.

  • @314159265piis Its also the name of that big statue in downtown. the lady on the building with the trident?

  • @314159265piis Portlandia is a sculpture by Raymond Kaskey located above the entrance of Michael Graves' Portland Building in downtown Portland, Oregon at 1120 SW 5th Avenue. It is the second-largest copper repoussé statue in the United States, after the Statue of Liberty.

  • the beautiful thing is that the people that have lived her their whole lives like me will love this show. its the people that have moved her from cali or whatever that will actually be offended! keep portland weird!

  • @guitarist1996 Ha yeah I think you're right! I've lived in Portland nearly my whole life and I think this show looks amazing!

  • fuck you. please don't encourage people to move to portland. I'm broke enough already, plus do any of you rich bastards live here?

  • @fatdeadguy I guess you haven't heard of the west hills.

  • I live in Portland and this is it! Keep Portland Weird and Beered!

  • i was born and raised in portland..... currently still reside here..... this is exactly what portland is like. im currently attending u of p and am gettting my bachelors in clowning.

  • @golfsmk1 umm, no offense, but who cares?

  • @golfsmk1 u of p like university of portland? my sister goes there

  • AH YOU MOTHER FUCKERS KILLED MY TOWN! People born and raised here arnt like this...it was all the freaks from out of town that turned Portland in to a circus...This is so true though, I hate to admit it. Please visit but dont fucking move here. Ps. fuck hipsters...I say that with "steps" shaved in my hair.

  • @DRINKDRANK123 As someone born and raised here, I completely disagree. I'd say we usually do turn out like this. Portland's a counter culture haven since the 60's. Accept your hipster status, my friend. Stop fighting and give in to the velvet blazers.

  • @PriscillaRelentless Born and raised here and proudly brandish a Velvet Blazer dancing Argentine Tango. Keep Portland Weird.

  • @mccarrel12985 I've been meaning to get into Argentine Tango. Maybe we'll have a dance together someday and never know it.

  • LOL,, i live in portland, this is so false

  • @ethandestruction By Portland, do you actually mean Vancouver, Gresham, or Beaverton? I don't know how anyone can live in Portland and not see how true this is.

  • @PriscillaRelentless I live in Gresham. Fuckin crackheads everywhere.

  • @MassHero Just say no to Gresham.

  • @MassHero HAHAHA Isn't Greshan fun?

  • @MassHero HAHAHA Isn't Gresham fun?*

  • @MassHero Actually, from the police reports that I read on drill weekends at the National Guard armory in Gresham, seems most of the Gresham druggies prefer heroin.

  • @citydogisu I personally prefer heroin, and I guess most of Gresham does, but I have encountered quite a few tweakers in my time. Lived here all my life, and I can assure you, Gresham is a shithole.

  • @MassHero Gresham is such a shithole. I am embarrassed that I live next to it.

  • @MassHero ROFL

  • @MassHero But to be fair you do have the cheapest blowjob rates in the country, that means economic infrastructure which means bye-bye recession fear.

  • @MassHero lol i live on 188th or as the neighborhood likes too call it the shady 8s i know how u feel ive lived north north east n beaverton everywhere out here and its fucked over here

  • @NWDAMU503 This man knows exactly what I'm talking about

  • OH THANK YOU GOD.

  • Hey idiots, the show is making fun of the hipsters.

  • Can't wait for this show to air!

  • Keep writing negative things about portland please. it may help curve the next invaition of out of state hipster that come, and fuck up our beautiful city. We have way to many fixxie riders as it is, and now this fucking T.V. show. GOD DAMN IT HOOLYWOOD, do you have to rape everything cool, and for what? The almighty dollar. EAT THE RICH, and don't move to portland!!

  • "His name was Colin. Here are his papers."....If that doesn't sum up the self-righteous foodies here in Portland, I don't know what does. Can't wait to watch this series!

  • Portland folk are a bit full of themselves for no good reason I've noticed. Probably because the population is90% self righteous annoying hipsters.

  • I live in Portland. Lol none of the stuff in the video is true but the series looks funny.

  • @tikigodzood Please. EVERYTHING in this video is true.

  • Portland is such a miserable mind-fuck of a town.

  • I'm moving to Oulu instead.

  • So true - I've been to a day long "feast" that was skillfully prepared by buddhist art-hippies using only foods that were dumpster-dived from local grocery stores. "Where young people go to retire."

  • Hahaha! Funny.

  • I can't wait for this to start!

  • YOUTUBE SEARCH "PORTLANDIA DREAM OF THE 90's!" It's an awesome music video.

  • @stevemallen1 LOL I loved it!

  • Also, I've just noticed "Portlandia" appeared on the map of Portland over downtown sometime within the last few....recently.

  • @PseudoKitsch "Portlandia" is a statue in Portland, it is what the series is named after.

  • @TheSaraSebastian I know. It just hasn't been on the map until recently, despite being erected in the 80's.

  • This looks awesome! To the people who keep freaking out that more hipsters will come to Portland- you're acting like a fucking hipster. Shut up.

  • What is this I don't even

  • KEEP PORLAND WEIRD! I miss PDX; this show seems like it will be fun.

  • The hipsters are already in Portland. Those of you who are afraid of this driving posers to the city aren't very aware of what's going on around them...

  • @electronicbenton The people afraid of hipsters coming to Portland ARE hipsters.

  • @PseudoKitsch So true! I used to complain about the "hipsters" in Portland all the damn time. While sipping my organic Stumptown roast and bitching about bands that "sold out." While shopping for velvet blazers at thrift stores. While trashing a Nike company car. While bartering over a bag of weed with a mohawked stripper. While brewing my own kombucha.. Now I see the light. My name is Priscilla and I am a Portland hipster.

  • So excited for this! :]

  • contol ALT delete these queers

  • yes finally

  • I hope this show tanks quickly and quietly because, if it's successful, all kinds of asswipes are gonna be moving to Portland. Our city's trendy enough as it is. We don't want douches here douching the place up.

  • @johnbohl John, we get your point of view. But do you really have to be posting this same remark on everything to do with this show? Why not just let these people do what they love doing and not worry about what may or may not come of our town because of one small television show.

  • @johnbohl I hope this show does well. it's success isn't going to summon a mass exodus of hipsters to Portland.

  • @ejshultz I hope you're right, but that's exactly what happened to Seattle in the mid-90's when Grunge went mainstream.

  • hipster looks hopeful, like shit mocking (yes.) it's fucking typical; a portland hipster shit!

  • Looks like shit

  • hopeful it's a mocking of hipsters

  • Fucking typical stupid Portland hiptser shit!

  • yes.
