    These kids were a delight!

    Bring it forward!

Educate yourself.........forget Scooby or the Wedding singer.....

  • @piranalu It's definitely a dutchie as in weed...A joint, spliff, J, etc. This song is most definitely about weed.

  • in an interview these guys say the song is about weed, but because they were all CHILDREN they had to change the name from kutchie to dutchie. If anyone actually knew shit about the band they wouldn't have these squabbles about slang. it's music.

  • PSS: That Bunny Wailer-Marcia Griffiths show was at Miami, Florida's Bayfront Park in November,2010.

Also Toots (Frederick) Hibberts and the May Tals and Steel Pulse appeared at this show.

For free, I saw Inner Circle in April,2010 at Tina Hills Pavillion (next to Bayfront Park).

They did the Fox TV Cops show theme Bad Boys and Girl,I Wanna Make U Sweat-The La la la la la Song

  • PS: I think this song was in Scooby Doo too.

  • This song was also in the funny movie about the wedding crashers, from the early 2000s,I think it was, and also this song was on TV show, The Simpsons.

As a young, new school teacher moving to S. Florida in the very early part of the 1980s, from Rhode island, and being a big Bob Marley-Jimmy Cliff reggae and calyso music fan since college in the 1970s, this song really hit home for me, as I love the Jamaican riddems.

Just saw Bunny Wailer, Marcia Griffiths of the I-3's Bob Marley's Wailers .

  • actually, this is a cover. Pass the dutchie pon the left hand side was a traditional Jamaican folk song kind of thing before these guys came along, and it WAS about weed. But when these kids did it, they had to change the concept, they were just kids after all, it'd be controversial otherwise, so they refer to the cooking dutchie, rather than the blunt- dutchie

  • Love teh songz! XD

  • Good movies: THE HARDER THEY COME, CLUB PARADISE, COOL RUNNINGS, PRINCE OF EGYPT

  • i heard this on 93.5 Kday here in LA

  • this song sounds like pass the weed

  • Jah Bless

  • Hallelujah!

  • Jah Bless i n i

  • "Pass the dutchie" is the sequel to "Pass the kutchie".

Think about it. After you smoke from the kutchie, you get the munchies. Then you need the cooking pot (dutchie).

I know what its like not to have herb or food. Jah Bless the poor of the world!

  • Oh my! This song takes me waaay back. I wonder where these singers are now.

  • Pass the Dutchie is a cover version of Pass the Koutchie by the Mighty Diamonds. Actually the original song was about cannabis but the members of Musical Youth were under 18 when they did the cover so they changed all drug references in the lyrics. It then became a song about extreme poverty. There is an article "Pass the Dutchie" on Wikipedia which explains everything plus you can find the original song on Youtube.

  • Oh!!! This is one of the best songs in the world. Where are these guys now? Does anyone know their wherabout? Please let me know.

  • my wife and I just got back from visiting Jamaica. We were in Ocho Rios, but I feel so much for these people. We rented a car and drove from the airport making a few stops. These people are amazing people, and I wish the gov't could do more for them. Talking to the people just opened my eyes to how lucky we have it. They have so much poverty and work for so little. Dawnhewitt1 you are absolutely right, they sing about what is real. BTW we are white and don't smoke pot.

  • @bigdaddyspeeddemon What does it matter what race you are? True the Jamaicans are poor, but at least they live in paradise! Their government cares little for the poor, just like the U.S.!

  • I feel hungry now!

  • 12 people didnt pass the dutchie :(

  • @scrooge201 I'll continue to defend my history, culture and music from being trivialized and misinterpreted by people who don't care to know anything about it. You on the other hand seem a bit cranky and nasty today, i thought smoking was supposed to make you mellow... Maybe you should leave this discussion to those who know what they are talking about. Just a suggestion.

  • this takes me back to my youth ...my musicall youth

  • that is true , I can clearly hear : pass the dutchie PAN the left hand side; it´s like they were eating rice with the hands ( as poor people is used to ) and saying "hey dude , pass the pot to the people at your left too !

  • go on face book and type in this if you love this song Re-release Pass the dutchie by musical youth

  • my favorite song

  • their story on the show "unsung" was really sad

  • This is awesome when your feelin' good!!!!

  • Is billy boyo one of the singers ?

  • im not bing rude or nothing, but im reading comments about the song is about weed. but as a british caribbean and having west indian parents i know this song is about a cooking pot, where you cook stews and rice and peas. People who are talking about weed, obviously doesnt know what a dutch pot is.

  • @moodswingz1 Thank you!!!!

  • quisiera ir a jamaica a recordar lo que ha pasado en kingston!!! me encanta el ska!! y el reggae de trojan records, pama records y studio one!!!! jah bless!!!

  • Am I the only one who heard this on scobby doo?

  • @AnimeFanMovies Yes I HAVE.! LOL

  • @AnimeFanMovies ur not allone babe!

  • @AnimeFanMovies no ur not lol

  • @NuclearWarMaster exactly.Justin Bieber has no talent.

  • thanks for making my point for me, according to the lyrics as these UNDER AGED children passed the dreadlocks camp, they could feel the "chill" as they seen and heard them say... (wait for it...) "HOW DOES IT FEEL WHEN YOU GOT NO FOOD?" Clearly you've never seen a group of rasta @ meal time passing a pot of food around from person to person with your own eyes like I have. Since I'm a Jamaican who grew up with a father who was involved in the reggae music industry, maybe you need the clue...

  • OMFG i AlWaYS heard dis on D RADIO...i JUSt Found it.THANK GOD.i So DO LOVE this SONG.BETTER DAN BEiBER nd all d ada CHILD MUsicianS....12 ASHOLES Missd d LIKE BUTTON whiLE Sniffing der MOMS Pussy

  • haha dutch POT shared for food, yea right

    "POT"=WEED

    thats what they really mean...

  • @MRShitHitsTheFan r u dumb or sutton?

no it dosent. i have a dutchi pot, i use it to cook mutton curry rice and peas.

so no it dosent mean weed.

  • @XxXhoneyXxX12345 i know it means that but what im sayin is that they just use that word as another word for weed. i think they just disguise the word weed with dutchie but i dont know.thats what i think

  • great rythm

  • YES SARRRR :D

  • full up riddim.

  • anyone know the riddim?

  • kinda funny how the chorus fits perfectly for blazing up

probably meant to be that way? I dunno.

  • Omg, I love this song. It is the best.. so true, so amazing.

  • what happened to them????? anyone know???

  • The thing is that is a nice song. ^^

I didnt listen the Herb or weed word so is ok.

  • The thing is that is a nice song. ^^

  • Don't let the truth stand in the way of your argument, clearly a song sung by under aged children has to be about drugs because you say it does.

  • As a Jamaican I can assure that this song is about poverty and hunger, a dutchie is the nickname for a dutch pot which is the tradtional cookware used for cooking stews and rice and peas, as such the song describes hungry people sharing a pot of food between themselves by passing it from person to person. Bob Marley spoke about poverty and hunger in his songs as well, listen carefully to songs like "No Woman No Cry." Real reggae is as much social commentary as is it entertainment.

  • @dawnhewitt1 As a pot smoker i dont care what you say this song is about smokeing WEED

  • @mattratt85 hows is that that makes no soence

  • @dawnhewitt1 - I agree with you wholeheartedly. Perfect analogy!

  • @dawnhewitt1 I agree with you .. their talking about hunger and passing the cooking pot .. sharing with others !!

  • @dawnhewitt1 name 1 reggae artist who isn't a potead lol

  • @kratoslinkmaster, Lucky Dube...

  • @dawnhewitt1 you are only half-correct. This song is also about weed. This is a riff off of another song called pass the kutchie, which is about smoking weed, among other things. They only switched and added a few words. It may be a little subliminal, but this is definately about starvation AND getting high.

  • @dawnhewitt1 True. Except he clealry says that as he passes the Rast camp he hears them say, pass it to the left. Buy a clue.

  • @dawnhewitt1 ive been trying to explain this to people for years. it'll never get through. :/

  • @SK84ANGELDUST Agreed! But at least some of us know the truth, even though it's preaching to the choir. :)

  • @dawnhewitt1 that is true , I can clearly hear : pass the dutchie PAN the left hand side; it´s like they were eating rice with the hands ( as poor people is used to ) and saying "hey dude , pass the pot to the people at your left too !

  • @dawnhewitt1 alot of people think its a pot song

  • @dawnhewitt1 your an idiot. This song is about passing a joint around. Listen to the lyrics....

  • @scrooge201 HOW DOES IT FEEL WHEN YOU GOT NO FOOD, yes LISTEN TO THE LYRICS, ductchie is a pot to cook in, what do you knoe bout it? please explain?

  • @dawnhewitt1

ii DiiDNT KNW iiT MEANT DAT. THNKz FOE LETTiiN US KNW. XDD

  • @dawnhewitt1 Yeah, but the original of this song is pass the kutchie by the mighty diamonds.. this is a cover.
