But it's possible that she here refers to something that happened before 1967. She's a great songwriter and uses her imagination and her fantasy and things that happened to her. But she is one of the few great stars with a very long lasting relation.

I love this song so much. i also have the versions from Cher, Loretta Lynn, and Lorrie Morgan considering i'm a fan of all of them. But Dolly's is definitely my favorite. Anyone know who this originiated with?

Charly Mcclain recorded this song for her 1977 debut album here's charly mcclain.The album was released on epic records and you can find it on ebay.There's also a 1999 release called anthology by charly with this song.
This was always one of my favourite songs from HEARTBREAKER. I always thought they should have released it as a single. It could have been as big a hit as "Baby I'm Burning" and "Heartbreaker". Nice shots too. I personally thought Ed Caraef (photographer for the HERE YOU COME AGAIN and HEARTBRAKER albums) created the most beautiful visuals of Dolly ever.
This song and Nickles and Dimes are my favorite from this album. I always thought those 2 songs shoulda been released. I have versions of this song from Cher and Lorrie Morgan but Dolly, as usual, out shines them all.
I think Loretta Lynn (speaking of Kentucky) also did a version around this same time (1978 or '79-ish), but her version wasn't as good as Dolly's either.
@kvncttn Dolly just brings so much emotions feeling love and even sexiness to the one song so you never feel that all her songs sounds a like.Just like Celine Dion everything she does has the same feel to it. Dolly just put a different kind of effort into each song
