Which one of Newton;s law of Motion is being applied in this scenario? Wouldn't be N3L, becaue the boat is exherting force on the water, but the water is pushing back with equal or greater force.
@pacman1993 The boat works on Action/Reaction. It pushes backwards on the water and it pushes forward on the boat. The river pushing on the boat tries to push it backwards. It is a different event. When those forces (the river on the boat) are equal then it doesn't move. So to move AGAINST the river it must produce more force than the river.
