  • Now do it in the sand and see how far down you get stuck.

  • Huh? Down? I've only seen this glitch lead to great heights.

  • @ulillillia If you fall in sand/snow from a certain height in most Mario games, you get stuck in the ground.

  • Oh, I've seen that happen in this game but it's not far. I even tried to land in the sand - no good.

  • The water is SUPER deadly to animes.

  • Uli, have you tried playing MINECRAFT?

  • You are so cool Ulilils.

  • You have the patience of a god, uli.

  • "how would you like to have that for almost an hour"

    oh my god yes please

  • You can also do this glitch using the plant thing that is covered in the goop you have to use yoshi juice to remove.

  • Awesome. I'm trying this today.

  • Awesome find.

  • Yo, uli. Have you ever gotten into fighting games?

  • Those kinds of games are too violent and against my nature.

  • I miss this game

  • "Now it's like sunrise, ~with a STRANGE twist to it though~" lol'd

  • I've know about this glitch since around 2002 (thanks to GameFAQs), but very few people that I know were familiar with it until I showed them. I love that you're finally giving this glitch some "mainstream" exposure. There aren't that many videos of it on Youtube due to the length of it.

  • Question: Ulillillia, do you work as a quality tester for a video game company? If not, have you considered applying? You would be perfect in that environment, in my opinion.

  • There are many issues with today's games that makes that childhood dream highly unlikely. By the time I get the now current generation systems needed, the next generation systems would've been out for a year or even longer. So few games are of interest nowadays that I've nearly lost interest in gaming beyond the classics. No one's going to develop Sonic 2 on the Genesis any further. No one is going to remake Blaster Master on the NES or Super Monkey Ball 2 on the Gamecube.

  • @ulillillia They've remade blaster master about... 3 times by now with the newest on the wii and they're still making super monkey balls

  • Why is al this empty space in a video game and how far would it go?

  • Hey Uli, it sounds like all your commentary is coming from the left speaker channel. Is there a reason for that, I'd love to hear it!

  • The original reason was my speaker arrangement. The volume knob is apparently never on the left speaker so I had the 2 speakers switched. Left was right and right was left. With the speaker on the left closer to me than the one on the right, and the fact I was more interested in the game's audio, I put the game's audio on the left side which became the right speaker. The vocal track was, thus, on the other speaker. That's how it originated.

  • Ulil, how many people have done this? You might be the only person I know to pull off this glitch. I just tried right now and it took me about 22 tries to get it just right.

  • Once you master the timing, your success rate really goes up. I was otherwise getting to a 60% success rate. If I practiced more, I could bump that up even more. You'd be the same. Just learn the timing and exploiting this is easy.

  • Wow, this is really cool! My sister found out about that glitch on her own actually, but I had no idea about the dismounting thing. I'm going to have to show her this video. I also didn't know the game worked like this, so this is pretty interesting and informative.

  • He is actually talking but he is so low that we cant hear him, listen 0:35

  • Adjust your balance to the left if you have a hard time hearing me speak.

  • @ulillillia

That's true, My left earplug is broken so i only use my right

  • Then you'll need to get new headphones or use speakers.

  • I love the noises Yoshi makes. How 'bout you?

  • That is one hell of a skybox.

  • It's either something that moves with the camera but placed at the back end of the Z buffer, or it's something that's 2D that changes dependent on the camera angle.

  • How come you always collect the coins from the enemies even though you don't need them for the purposes of this video?

  • @mikhasw he probably has obsessive compulsive disorder, which I bet is the reason he didn't edit this video down in any way

  • Basically, habits.

  • whaddya know? its sorta like the Super Monkey Ball thing that ulillillia did.

  • i can't hear you

  • ulilia's dedication is freaking unbelivable, though frankly I'm afraid of what would happen if you were to give him something like dwarf fortress or planscape: torment

  • Are you gonna post any pictures of your new desk?

  • if he's really falling at high speeds, why isn't he writhing around in terror, flapping his arms and legs in panic, yelling, etc.?

  • @ZeavoTown cuz mareo's da fukn bawz scrub

  • (glances at the like bar)...i think one person will die tonight...

  • glad to see that you're playing super mario sunshine! how do you think it compares to your other favorite 3d platformers?

  • This is one of my high favorites. I find it better than Jak & Daxter on many fronts. The water in this game is the most realistic I've ever seen in video games.

  • I played this game so much, back in the day. Nice to see you playing it.

  • Wow, you're really good at this game, look at all those Shines! Which 3 are you missing?

  • The 3 I'm missing are the blue coin ones. I'm supposedly missing 28 blue coins.

  • man i like your videos glad i subed to you! :D

  • gotta fall fast

  • "Isn't this awesome?"

  • Pfft! Anyone notice that Cataquack knocking itself out into a tree?

  • I'm so glad this is like 14 minutes long. I'm in for a treat tonight.

  • @Ketsui bro he was streaming this for hours along with other stuff too. check out his livestream on his site around 11pm-12am EST

  • @Shugo489 More like around 10am-12am because 11pm-12am EST is just 1 hour.

  • this video pwn

  • Hey Uli, you live stream? What's the URL? I would love to watch you =)

  • @JDavisishere go to his website

  • I'm starting to get bored of playing my games and I'm likely to return to PM very soon.

  • @ulillillia So, its save to guess you wont be streaming today?

  • @foofiter9097 *safe

  • Today may be the last day.

  • This game brings back sooo many memories :D

  • Your awesome! Need more videos!!

  • Why did I ever sell this game???

  • nice how the long draw distance works up there too

  • I can confirm that he really did this for a FULL 57 minutes and 37 seconds, it really was quite amazing feat to witness, I had plenty of time to multi-task and watch this fall it took so long!. Best Mario glitch I have ever heard (and seen).

  • @foofiter9097 *57 minutes 48 seconds.

  • 57 minutes, 48 seconds actually. The video description has the math behind the height.

  • @ulillillia yeah I corrected myself in the other post, I thought I heard you say "57 minutes 37 seconds" in the video and so I went with that, and then I checked the description and realized it was 57 minutes 48 seconds. Really is a neat glitch, and I would imagine anyone stumbling onto this without knowing would think there game has froze, this is helpful info to anyone who accidentally stumbles onto this.

  • I did start with 57 minutes and 37 seconds - it was a mistake. The video description has the real value. The video description tends to list any corrections or clarifications so be sure to check it.

  • @ulillillia Everyone makes mistakes, at least I actually checked the Description, I should have checked the description first though... Either way, this glitch truly is very amazing.

  • The 3468-second fall may not be the longest possible. The longest may be double that. I don't know how it scales, but if it requires hours to test, it's much less likely to get tested. The only such long range test I continuously do is the battery life of my MP3 player.

  • @ulillillia Yeah that's understandable, because 57 minutes just for 1 fall is already a very long time, and I am sure with a bit more testing you could get it to last over an hour, but that would be painful to sit through after awhile, even though it is awesome to watch.

  • @foofiter9097 Funny enough, when I borrowed the game from a friend years ago, I did this glitch by pure accident. You can Imagine I was quite surprised..but I enjoyed the view and tried to replicate the glitch on other stages, I think I couldn't find the purple pitfall things anywhere else in the time I had it.

  • @Minazato Wow, if I was falling in a game for 30 minutes straight, I would probably think that my game froze, so I would have hit the reset button by that amount of time. Either way, I am pretty sure this is the only place you can do this glitch, especially since you need Yoshi.

  • @foofiter9097 I might be wrong after not having played it for years, but I don't recall being the sky for such a long time, In fact I think I did the glitch without Yoshi, instead I used to water boost (the one you charge up) just at the right time which resulted in less height than this method. I could be wrong after all these years, but I still remember watching the land "grow" as I fell.

  • @foofiter9097 BLJ from SM64 is probably a better glitch, you can beat the game with 0 stars

  • BLJ? What's that? I've otherwise never seen Mario 64 outside the rare TV ad that's now well over a decade old.

  • @ulillillia It's a very interesting glitch that lets you gain speed exponentially, it stands for "backwards long jump".

basically they forgot to cap backwards movement so in some areas you can actually increase your speed up into the thousands and go through walls

  • Man I love this game
