I think victory is rather clear: to topple Saddam's regime (Iraq under him was a state sponsor of terrorism) and leave behind a regime that will not become the next Iran/Afghanistan(Taliban Era)/Syria where terrorists have the backing of a state with funding, training, support, weapons, forged travel documents from which to carry out their campaign to spread a "Caliphate" across the globe. We're at war, and we didn't declare that war, it was declared upon us.

The UN never authorized the invasion. They were trying to prevent it when Bush ordered it. Remember? The weapons inspectors could not find WMD's. Furthermore, only the congress can authorize the US going to war. The UN cannot.

First the Commander in Chief did not NEED congressional authorization to send troops into Iraq. 2nd, it was Saddam's failure to comply with 14 previous UN resolutions that prompted the final ultimatum to cooperate with the weapons inspectors or, "face serious consequences as a result of its continued violations of its obligations." This is all online, you should look it up.
I've tried to look it up. Show me in the Constitution where a commander in chief is allowed to go to war without congressional approval. Our congress shamefully passed the Iraq Resolution allowing Bush to use his discretion. He didn't have any to use. Go ahead and have the last word for now. The 70-75% of the population who disagree will have the last word ultimately. The only question is how many will die before then.

Nearly 4,000 US Men and Women have died in Iraq, 26,000 wounded, and between 700,000 and 1,000,000 Iraqi's dead. The war has cost one trillion dollars. In the end, we will eventually have to leave half of our National Guard and Military equipment to the Iraqi forces, severely weakening the defense capacity of the US Army and their ability to respond and assist during the times of inevitable natural disasters.

Fortunately, fate has it that a Republican conservative government is in place when we need it. In Canada, in France, routinely liberals are voted out and conservatives voted in about every 10 years or so. It's a cycle. We have a split population, one side with peace flower child hippie types saying "peace" and "diplomacy" when looking into a giant barrel of a gun.(they mistakenly think that if we did not have guns (or "provoked them") they would leave us alone.

I read a report months ago at a Muslim watchdog site that moniters muslim websites. There are many muslim jihadists whose job it is, to troll popular American websites, posing as Americans. They make up stories, often times about having American families to gain sympathy, then they trash America, it's pres and troops. They spread hatred for the US using rhetoric and propoganda. Since most of the members of Move America Forward are either veterans, or families of those who have served or are serving in Iraq your criticism is unfounded. The organization has taken 2 trips to Iraq. Your position is ludicrous: that only those serving in Iraq should support the missions of our troops. That's a great position to have if you wish for their to NOT be public support for the missions of the troops.

I say send MORE troops to Iraq and get the job done. Then nuke Iran, Syria, put Saudi Arabia on high alert, and stop giving them money! We would most definately save the whole world from future mass killings, put a huge dent in current genocides, and prevent low scale terror stikes from cells already in place. I believe our cause would benefit greatly if our leaders would enforce current laws against treason, it would certainly boost my morale.

Terrorism is a real threat that we need to address. Though I don't agree with Iraq 100%, Sadam was a terrible dictator that needed to be removed before he killed and tortured thousands more people.

The U.S. was attacked by Islamic terrorists who came from a number of different nations. This was only one attack in their war declared on the U.S. - called a "jihad." One of the primary state sponsors of Islamic terrorism where jihadists are based was Iraq. Your flippant comments about going on a boat to Iraq suggest to me that you have no real respect for the incredible sacrifice our troops are making to keep you safe, free, and alive.

You are correct it changes nothing, if you don't want to support our troops and their missions, then get the heck out of the way of the rest of the American public that does! We don't need people undercutting our troops missions. Try holding an anti-war rally in Damascus or Tehran and let me know how it goes. I've already told you - MAF's gone to Iraq twice and thousands of our members served in Iraq, or had a family member who did.

You can support the troops by working to bring them home now, instead of trying to prolong their stay (at least until Bush's term ends) in the midst of a civil war that we cannot control. However, I *AM* interested in making sure Iraq is not a nation-state sponsor of terrorism, and I *AM* interested in making sure we don't hand al-Qaida a victory in Iraq. It's rather funny, these people claiming to be in support of the troops coming home. We all want the troops to come home safe and sound, after their mission is complete.
How many of these people scrreaming about the war, were the same ones screaming that it took "W" too long to act after 9/11. Then when he did take action, he was then showing undo force, and violating civil rights of the terrorists.

What is victory in Iraq? Here were the goals: Remove Saddam and have democratic elections. Check. Remove WMD's. Check (by default). Mission accomplished.
What is your definition of "victory"? Kill every kindergarten child who has been taught to hate America, and that martyrdom is the highest goal?
Thousands are dying in a civil war and our brave men and women are in the middle of it.

I think victory is rather clear: to topple Saddam's regime (Iraq under him was a state sponsor of terrorism) and leave behind a regime that will not become the next Iran/Afghanistan(Taliban Era)/Syria where terrorists have the backing of a state with funding, training, support, weapons, forged travel documents from which to carry out their campaign to spread a "Caliphate" across the globe. We're at war, and we didn't declare that war, it was declared upon us.

JiveDadson: the MAF response about "What is Victory in Iraq?" is an excellent answer. I might add victory is leaving Iraq with America's National Interests secured, i.e. hunt down every leader of at least every foreign (to Iraq)insurgent. That would be mostly be al-Qaeda and Iran foreign agents disrupting an Iraqi chance at stability.

The US military failed in protecting us on 9/11.
They have failed in upholding the Constitution.

The UN never authorized the invasion. They were trying to prevent it when Bush ordered it. Remember? The weapons inspectors could not find WMD's. Furthermore, only the congress can authorize the US going to war. The UN cannot.

Your wording is inaccurate. First the Commander in Chief did not NEED congressional authorization to send troops into Iraq. 2nd, it was Saddam's failure to comply with 14 previous UN resolutions that prompted the final ultimatum to cooperate with the weapons inspectors or, "face serious consequences as a result of its continued violations of its obligations." This is all online, you should look it up.

I've tried to look it up. Show me in the Constitution where a commander in chief is allowed to go to war without congressional approval. Our congress shamefully passed the Iraq Resolution allowing Bush to use his discretion. He didn't have any to use. Go ahead and have the last word for now. The 70-75% of the population who disagree will have the last word ultimately. The only question is how many will die before then.

The coalescence of a movement to call for "jihad" against the West can be traced to 20 years ago. It is the conclusion of the official US government 9/11 Commission Report that both of them were motivated by hatred of US foreign policy, particularly in Iraq. That document says Atta hated Saddam Hussein, whom he recognized as having gained power with US support.

Never heard of MAF til last night. But considering how their supporters act I won't be attending any of their meetings.
