  • I love nassau sooo much, but I like the bonefishing in green turtle cay muuuch better...

  • @cardinalmustang99 Nassau is great! If you get a chance post a video next time your fish for bones in Green turtle cay, i'd love to see it.

  • going for bonefish in mexico at the end of december. wondering what color flies work best to catch? i make my own too! it's fun!

  • @rulingmedal2 México is a great place to visit in December! I assume you'll be fishing the Yucatan-Quintana Roo area, the bonefish there will take any of the usual bead-chain eye flies, but bring different sizes from (#2-#8) in case you fish real skinny or deeper water. Gotchas, charlies, clousers, crabs etc. will all be good, but also don't forget you are likely to run into permit, small tarpon and snook so bring other flies with those fish in mind. Let us know how you do and good luck!

  • @albieonthefly many thanks, just made some crabs today! thanks!

  • 9wt for bones?? I've used my orvis helios 6wt numerous times for bones and had no issues at all landing 30'ers. Even landed a 18lb tarpon. w/ the 6 weight and a lamson litespeed reel. it's not all about landing em as fast as possible like you see those redneck fisherman on tv that use 25lb test for bass. HAHAHAHA.

  • @Canadaisthebest100 It is about landing them fast if you want them to live another day. So you keep using that 6wt idiot, I'll use my 8-10wt and give the fish the best chance it has to survive.

  • Only the stuff i dream of,instead of sticking at home with a 7wt in some lakes and resiviours

  • what weight rod?

  • @hujipher I had a 9wt. I suppose an 8wt would work but it might take longer to play/release the fish.

  • @albieonthefly thanks i really want to try this sometime looks like a whole new challenge

  • @hujipher Let me know how you do, fly fishing is pretty cool!

  • da bone feesh fight hard

  • Yeah, they are awesome.

  • Hey you definitely know how to catch them bones don't ya! Can you please give me the link to Aaron Bain's website or a link to him? Much appreciated!

  • Hello,

You can call Aaron at (242) 544-9943 or email him at aaronbain2005@hotmail.com

New website will be released soon. Good luck!

  • that's quite a nice fish, good effort.

  • Thank you!

  • My friend invited me on a cruise, to this very island! Im not one for cruising but i am one for fly fishing! Is it easy to catch fish there? I wouldnt have enough for a guide, id Probobally be borrowing a friends rod.

  • there are no bonefish in flamingo lake

  • BigBone Aaron was thought well by his younger brother BonefishSimon five years ago!

  • Indeed, thanks Simon!

  • Hey. I am going to Atlantis this spring break. I am new to salt water fly fishing, but I have some expirience with freshwater fly fishing. Do you have a advice on how to start? How did u find your guide? Did you use your own gear? Thanks!!!!

  • Hi, sounds like you are going to have a great time, Nassau and it's people are fantastic. I found my guide Aaron through his brother Simon Bain and I would recommend you book a guide even if it is only for a few hours to have the best shot at finding bonefish. Bring a 9-8wt floating line outfit with small flies #2-6 (gotchas, charlies etc) and flouro leaders. Feel free to email me if you want more details and let us know how you do on your trip.

    Good luck!

  • going bone fishing day after tomorrow!!

  • Best of luck, let us know how you do.

  • Wow, nice bone the last one. Congrats

  • Thank you sir!

  • nice bone! just got back from mexico caught my first bone...

    man they peal line!

..........check out my BONEFISH and other flyfish vids...................

  • i love my island so much and im 100%bahamian we should enjoy our country as the guest do so lets straighten up

  • Just got back from the cruise and didn't catch anything. I went fishing on the beach behind Atlantis there in Nassau. It sucked that the security guard told me to stop fishing. Oh well, I still had fun on the cruise.

  • Sorry to hear that. Fishing is often frustrating, but you learn something new everytime. Maybe when you go back to Nassau you can spend a little more time fishing or book a guide and you will probably get a bone.

    Good luck!

  • nice fish you cought there

  • Thank you!

  • man, killer bone... nice flat you were fishing as well.... never chased the bones on the fly but hope to someday....

CHECK MY VIDEO JACK CREVALLE ON FLYROD!

  • Hey, awesome videos you have there. Looking forward to watching them all. If you have any questions about bones on the fly don't hesitate to let me know.

  • Woohoo!!! Today is the day I leave to the Bahamas on the cruise. I soooooo am tired of waiting. But it's finally here. We hit CocoCay, St. Thomas, San Juan, Puerto Rico, and Nassau, Bahamas. I'm gonna try to catch bones in CocoCay and in Nassau. But in San Juan, I'm gonna try to catch baby tarpon. Did you know that they have tarpon in golf course ponds?! I can't wait!

  • Didn't know that, thank you for sharing!

  • I'm sooo excited to finally go to the Bahamas! What flies did you use to catch the bonefish. Also, what fly did you use to catch the pompano? Thanks.

  • Hi,

I used the usual crazy charlies etc. I think I had a scampi with heavy eyes on the bigger fish. We didn't target the pompanos, they were there and got to the flies before the bones saw it :)

  • You should come down to Big Pine Key and catch a slam. We have bonefish up to 13lbs, permit up to 40lbs and tarpon right now are running in the 20-100lb range. You will need to cast at least 40-60' and being able to double haul helps...

    Capt. JT

  • Hi,

I'd love to get a slam! I was down in the lower Keys this May and while I had lots of fun and played several fish, I only landed one nice bonefish.

  • What fish live on the flats besides bonefish? If there are tarpon, is fishing for them good?

  • As far as I know the bones are the main target on the flats while wading, but the fishing guides really know whats going on, so you might want to book one of them.

  • Nice! My family and I just won a 7-day Nickelodeon Cruse to Nassau! We leave August 9th. Hey is surf fly fishing good there in August?

  • Congratulations on winning a cruise!

Nassau has lots of flats so you might need to wade to spot fish. You can always blind cast on deeper water and you might just get something.

Best of luck and enjoy Nassau, its a great town!

  • thats so sick im going there in a couple of days i cant wait

  • Have a great trip and let us know how you did with the bones!

  • that,s what we do in nasa when we're not building the space shuttle

  • Thanks for free bonefish!

  • nassau is great!

  • Why does NASA allow fishing there? And won't the space shuttle launches scare away the fish?

  • hahahaha nice one

  • thanx 4 visiting my hometown

  • Thank you! Nassau and it's people are fantastic.

  • i back that up and if you dont mind me asking wat flys were u guys using?

  • I don't mind, we were using small puff (shrimp puff) and scampi flies.

The heavier scampi was used in deeper water to get down fast.

    Good luck!

  • Fly is the funnest and hardest way to catch them. I caught my first bone on spin cast rod (10lb test line) with a piece of shrimp. You can also use 1/8 oz. jig heads w/Mr. Twister type lures. Yellow or clear with gold flakes had yeilded best results. Fish the lure on the sea floor. Thats where they look for their food.

  • was that a ryan air flight the wings look like one

  • That was a Jet Blue Airbus A-320, they offer direct service to Nassau from several US cities.

  • Is flyfishing the preferred method for bonefish? I am starting to fly fish and I am in a scout troop that is going to Sea Base and we'll go to the Bahamas and fish and sail and snorkel so I was wondering if bonefishing is done at all not on the fly.

  • I think that it is a personal choice. Lots of people go sight fishing for bones using spinning rods and small jigs or baits. Fly fishing is probably more challenging, but try them both and see what you prefer!

  • Great! Thanks for the input

  • if this is nassau, this is the south side of the island ( new providence) where you can actually walk out about 1/2 mile before the water gets up to your waste

  • Good call, you are correct.

  • sweet
