I think Mos Def has an interesting voice. Honestly, I don't think you have to be good at singing to be a good singer. Yeah, that doesn't make any sense, but when people start to care about how good of a singer someone is I think the signing in general loses its meaning. Just my opinion, not explained very well.
Listen, I love your music! And I think it is great that you are getting your grind on. But it's not great if you are spreading that herpes package, I'm gonna keep it 100. I personally know a few celebrities who have it and want to keep it under raps, and that cool, but get help to cure that disease. Check these people out, they have actual test results showing where people have tested negative....
Yeah, you have some good music here..specially this one here....is there a chance to get this one from you?I need a good Quality! I love it! Wanna bring them here to Berlin, Germany..they never performed here!!
So i will appreciate that ...thanks for uploading this one..inspires me a lot.
I just come back from a live of robert glasper experiment in paris. It was good as fuck, rob g. and Chris dada just kill this. and Thanks for the J Dilla Tribute at the end. RIP J DILLA.
Im a definite Mos Def fan. In fact, I'd put Black on Both Sides in my Top 10 all-time Hip-Hop records. Love the guy! But like Kanye, he's a surprisingly bad singer. That's some nasty tone when he sings. But when he raps?--that's the top-notch shit!!!
@LodoGrdzak It's like you know Mos Def is a bad singer, but it's one of those establised tones to where when he starts singing, you know its him....my opinion.
@gpitts08 Yeah, okay. He's definitely got the power of personality working for him. "A voice," you might say, even if its not a singing voice. Like I said, Kanye's a terrible singer too--surprisingly bad really. But he's still the best pop artist out there.
this is amazing - its nsowing in london england rite now and it so fits this mellow theme - i wish i could just tag along in their circles, just to catch that energy, vibe and talent.Thank you for posting xxx
goddamn it's so fresh, it gives me the chills. To know that they were supposed to come together in Montreal but they didn't ....ahhhh SH!t!!!! Ultimate shot outs to Dilla! RIP!!
"It's the thelonius super microphonist, you know us, this rap shit, we 'bout to own it!"
@ johnnymitch74: First, he starts with a bass riff that circles around Eb. Then he adds an Gb major7, so that results into an Eb minor7, while he moves the Gb major 7 a whole note higher to an Ab major 7, then back. Then he transposes the whole thing to Gb.
honestly, as much as I love Mos Def, he messes this groove up with all his noise making...lol. I replicated this song for myself and now listen to it everyday on my cellphone....without Mos. haha

i used to work at this shit hole for 2 years. it is a nice venue to go to as a customer, but working there is horrible. the owner was constantly in debt and never paid his employees.
You're right "THELONIUS" was how COMMON wanted to Launch SLUM VILLAGE and Jay Dilla (a Soulquarian) on the LIKE WATER FOR CHOCOLATE album (classic material 1 of my all time favorite Albums) gotta have some "Nag Champa(Afro-d. for the World)" but then it's (Thelonius) also the last track on Slum Village's Fantastic Vol. 2
