@thedezoe I say we KEEP the mic and turntables, but add the instruments. Black people? Maybe not? But the Rap Industry......Hell yeah.....the Roots do it. But I'm feelin' you.....I just disagree with it being a black people thing over an industrial assembly of ringtone artists with NO talent. The talented exist. It's the market that isn't there right now. I'm trying to start a label that can make that music people claim to miss so much. Why did the older bands just stop if they live?
@8bloc You are absolutely correct. GREAT music never ceased to be created, It's just been shoved into oblivion by the media industrial complex. There was a time not long ago when mediocrity was met with ridicule instead of encouragement. I definitely agree that adding the elements of Hip-Hop and Technology to our sonic toolbox will surely see the start of yet another musical revolution for the generations that follow us to build upon. +1 on the Roots too.
the alc murdered the track in this one for prodigy on the hnic album the most under rated album made in its time. to this very day i still rock to the hnic album. shit still rocks
i kick it with lou in memphis he let me record his sessions.... and they never got a copy... him and a famenco guitarist... it was so ill..... from 91-94... i see lou every once and a while on his bike... he's older of course.... but i love him personal....
Makes me wanna close my eyes and slowly nod to the beat. I remember Outkast spittin on it back in 96. Alchemist laced Prodigy wit it on HNIC. Mary J. Blige used it as an interlude on Love and Life...
Unknown is right. I found 2 copies of this, 1 sealed 1 just opened @ the same shop. Paid less than 5.00 for the pair. 6 lengthy songs that are all worth listening to. Alc killed this track.
Yeah. I didn't even notice the guitar melody chopped up by Organized Noize. After going back and listening to it again, I would have to say you're right. I still like what Alchemist did with it though.
@firelione You can, just but the records and play them. Half these artists are still alive and well. Support them by going to the shows... Unfortunately, buying rap albums that sample them usually dosent give these artists any sort of credit or compensation as the majority of the time the publishing rights are owned by a third party...
I'm so happy that I can finally hear this wonderful musician again. We used to have this but I don't know whatever happened to it. I have finally downloaded my favorite song of his, Let Me Into Your Life, from Amazon. I will have the record again - when I can afford to buy it. But for now, I'm just grateful to have access to him once more. And by the way - whatever happened to him?

Man, this is so real. The seventies were truly
the heydays of great R&B and classical soul music. I wish we could go back and experience this just one more time :(

That is Memphis in the background ya'll.
This is a forgotten classic. Off of the Stax label as it folded.
I have the whole album on CD somewhere, burned from a friend of a friend's album.
I'm not an anti-bootlegging guy, but if there was ever an artist I wish could see a little money come back from his work. It's L.B.
Of course... he doesn't even own it anymore.
So I'd have to mail it to him.
