Kendoka are usually quite fast, but have bad technique when compared to Kenjutsuka. Chances are the fellow you sparred probably hadnt ever done it before or at least very much of it, because most traditional Kenjutsu schools do not spar regularly. He probably has the technique, but not the experience of putting it into practice. In the end it all comes down to the individual though, not the style.
if you have seen classical tameshigiri you urban slobs would have died of boredness.. like two hours of speeches and rituals before doing the acctual cut :P shinto you know... anyway its about clean cuts not whacking the shit out of the tatami, its not about fighting but spirit, or something like that
well she did very well she didnt over extend or anything like most ppl do. very nice. its good to see that there are still people out there who still hold the katana with the respect and use to a higher standard and respect than what most lame anime fanboys give it.
