This is a guy who has financed entire movies out of his own pocket, doesn't waste a millisecond of anyone's time, and doesn't have to apologize to anyone......His two back to back war movies (Iwo Jima/Flags) are astoundingly well done.....and Gran Torino was a very deliberate punch in the gut of a message film on his part. Perhaps the best reflection on this film is that, without great acting (wasn't really) big bucks, effects etc, it's still a movie that gets under your skin & stays with you. It's because the story itself has a lot of punch and humanity, Clint goes right to bare essentials and he knows how to get to you very directly and personally. You have to stand in awe of someone who has such a master of the the craft from every angle, behind & in front of the camera, & hope he never stops doing it

Perhaps the best reflection on this film is that, without great acting (wasn't really) big bucks, effects etc, it's still a movie that gets under your skin & stays with you. It's because the story itself has a lot of punch and humanity, Clint goes right to bare essentials and he knows how to get to you very directly and personally. You have to stand in awe of someone who has such a master of the the craft from every angle, behind & in front of the camera, & hope he never stops doing it
