I am the son of Ron Fairbanks. I was 8 at the time of this interview. Our trip was an amaz ing experience with memories that have stayed with me for my entire life. Never reached New Zealand, ending our journey in BomBay, where we lived in our bus on the beach amongst tin huts and people who had not a penny to their name. Every day was a new story. 7 years later we tried going from Canada to Australia, first touring the US - living in a van! Ran out of money again. I guess my Dad never learned.
I'd love to know the outcome of this. We're their dreams and aspirations fulfilled? Did it all end in disappointment or did it turn out for the best for them? I hope so, it was a very courageous thing to do.
