To all the retards listen up, this is the first season of Yu-Gi-Oh and this seasons whole point is to build up the story heading towards the second season. Rules are different as no sacrifices are needed but there's only 2000 life points and o direct attacks. This season is good but gets better and also was to see how popular the show would become and that's why more traps and magics are played in other seasons as the game becomes more strategic to how it's played propely. @islandija100 the sacrificing of a weaker card in order to play a strong one is a device that was brought in later on in the show. Originally you could play any card you wanted if it was in your hand

in the last saga it proved that exodia is actually stronger than the god cards, because exodia alone was battling the evil monster, but the gods had to fuse to have a chance.

this is just the first season released in america. I read a bit of the manga and apparently before the dueling there were things like capsule monsters that mokuba made and where people almost died ( Honda, known as Tristen, almost died playing a real life version of Tetris created by Kaiba)

lol...that was when duel monsters were created at that time the you didn't have to sacrifice to summon a powerful monster..if you get the egyptian god card its like u don't need to sacrifice any monsters to play it just take the card and put it on the field and every player starts with 2000 life points but later on it gets more rules and thats what makes it more interesting

yonish1, for your ifnormation, Season 2 of Yu-Gi-Oh was just trying to make the game closer to the real life card game. These rules already existed before Season 1 ended. Also, did you know that, ni the real life card game, you start with 8000 Life Points? This already existed long before Yu-Gi-Oh 'GX' was released.
