A lot of carlton supporters at that time didn't realise that one of the main aims of footy is to put pressure on your opponents and that is exactly what hawthorn did. Clarkson did the correct thing that night to put 3 players on Fev so that he could be under pressure. You can't just leave a player open so that they can get a milestone. Fev had to deserve his 100th goal and he didn't that night.

If I were playing I'd much rather have 99 earned goals than 100 where the opposition let me kick them.
The achievement is in working for those 100 goals, even a 10 year old could kick 100 goals if the opposition let him.
