Man what I'd give to fly that... I'd like to call you lucky, but that would be more insult than whats actually true, good job on the hard work an dedication :)
I salute all the chopper and plane pilots. Precision is your part of war as it seems. Eventho I live in Sweden and have never experienced war myself, everyday I think of the friends and families of the fallen US troops. Anyhow, I fully support the US war on terror and I really hope it can all come to an end soon. Keep up the good work buzzerfly, nice vid.
Excellent footage buzzerfly, refering back to the odd bit of insurgent groundfire, what sort of fire have you experienced? RPGs, rifle (7.62x39/7.62x54R), .50cal/12.7mm or bigger, such as 20mm? If so, has that sort of fire died down with the last troop surge? Here we have just honoured our service men and women with ANZAC Day (April 25, date of the original Gallipoli landings in WW1), so keep up the good work.
@buzzerfly Whats it like being a helicopter pilot? I want to be a commercial pilot ^^ And fly commercial jets, but I wouldn't mind dropping bombs or delivering cargo to soldiers in Iraq and Afgahnistan, like with the C-130 and do a low pass and drop off the cargo ^^
If you want to see some good hellfire (and rocket, and 30MM) shooting, go to the video page on my website (Buzzerfly "dot" Net) and watch my feature movie "The Reaper Perspective." Enjoy!
What Kind of education, experience, training do you need to be an apache pilot? Is that you flying? I'm 18, but planning on taking flying lessons this summer at a local place. Really interested in flying, possibly joining one of the services to be a combat pilot like you.
Twp questions buzz: one, I thought the soldiers were recently banned from uploading and accessing youtube; two, How the heck are you flying that helicopter? with virtual reality?? Thanks
1) Military members currently stationed in Iraq are prohibited from using GOVERNMENT bandwidth to access youtube. It is still possible to access the service from the commercial lines, and 2) I don't know how to respond to your wierd question,
Ah so I must have misread the article. As for my second question, to me it looks like the pilot's helmet is totally covering the his eyes. Is that true and if so is does he fly the plane? Sorry for being so curious and thank you for the response
Ahhh, I understand the confusion. That big cover just gives the visor a place to retract under when not in use. You just can't see his face because he's sitting in front of me and looking in the same direction. And I don't mind answering questions at all. Good day!
Pretty sure you flew over my COP.

Do you have to worry about heat seeking missiles or are rpg's your biggest threat?
Fascinating insight into what is to most of us a very alien way of making a living.

@Chubcatcher
It depends on the area, and past events. Different threats drive different tactics.

Flying from the back seat looks kind of awkward. still cool though. Apache FTW!!!

man. that slow passing shadow is freaking me out. What is that? it can't be the main rotor.
barkon 2 years ago
It is...It is the slightly synchronized hertz rate of the rotor system (101 Hz) and the camera shutter speed.

so while you were filming this, who was driving?
stewieandmo 5 years ago
he had a mini-cam attached to his helmet. The co-pilot also has one on the left side of his helmet.
The80sSucked 5 years ago
No, we don't wear mini-cams. It was my digital camera in movie-mode, and I just set it on my blast shield. 80s sucked should stay in his own lane...
