the reason they have a low field goal percentage is quite fuckin simple,a jump shot by its very nature is a low percentage shot because usually its is taken further away from the basket,on the otherhand a fuckin layup or dunk is a high percentage shot or anything mid range has a higher percentage chance of going into the basket.

The fact is that 15 of 58, barely 25%, is Kobe's game winning shooting. Interesting that many other players in history have been able to shoot a jumper after 40 min of play and actually make it.

Sure you can. BOTH the east and west used to be really tough in the late 80s, early 90s, easily as tough as the west conference is now. For instance, this last season in the west you had 5 teams winning 50+ games and only 2 in the east. In 89-90, you had 4 teams in the east and 5 in the west winning 50+ games. In 96-97 you had 6(!!) teams in the east winning 50+ and 4 in the west.

Actually I think every coach in the league cares about %. It is FAR better to score 50 pts on 25 shots than 50 pts on 50 shots. MJ was a FAR more efficient offensive player and could score more with the same amount of shots. And Kobe couldn't win in 03 with Shaq or 04 with 3 other hall of famers, so you can't say he would have won if he and shaq had stayed together.

I can say MJ is better bc he did MUCH more against his era than Kobe is doing to his. MJ was a better athlete than Kobe is early in his career and MJ was a better shooter than Kobe inside the arch. Even Tex Winter has said Kobe is not a better shooter than Mike. MJ also showed how easy this era is by averaging 20+ and dropping 50+ as a 40 year old man! That's why Phil Jackson recently said "Michael would average 45 a night under these rules."

No, Kobe has trouble penetrating against actual defenses that stand their ground, and he is not near the finisher at the rim or in the paint that Jordan was. Someone hasn't studied up. Kobe has to get hot from 3 point range usually to reach 50 points. A significantly higher percentage of Kobe's shots are from 3 point range, which is his own fault.
