good instructional vid, but I have to say that I feel you missed one of Slash's regularly used licks, that blues-minor pentatonic whatever (out ta get me, nightrain, civil war etc) where its like 15 14 12p14p12...he really draws out a bend then quickly pull-offs and hammer ons down the minor pentatonic scale.

@kostaVHjovanovic actually slash play's that lick in the solo to the song called nothing to say ft matt shadows on his solo album it's very much of a metal lick but slash used it in that song because it's a very heavy song and really upbeat and slash also uses a very similar lick in his live solo's so yea it actaully his some what of a slash lick hope i helped

Do these dvd's actually help alot because I really wanna be able to play like slash and play quick, I just kinda wanna progress as a guitarist in my picking patterns and speed. I am thinking of buying this dvd but only if I know for sure that it will help me.

@letshakehands Hi there, this DVD will show you Licks in the Style of Slash, I would say if you want to learn more little runs and licks then this is for you. But if you looking to build up speed, picking and techniques in general id say there's other DVD's which will give you that. At least you can build on that first, it you have a much better grounding. I'm not wanting to learn heavy metal, yngwie malmsteen stuff, I just obviously have to have a bit of speed when it comes to play like slash, so I just wanted to know whether this dvd helps on the whole picking, speed part as well. I can play guns n roses stuff but only sort of the main parts like civil war intro,nighttrain riff, paradice city, but I get stuck on the solo's.

@kesajoodik jeah just for using some scales near his sound does not make it HIS sound. Not bad, but to many single tones after another HE plays way more bendings and stuff,.. the solos just sound boring,.. in my opinion, its way harder to play like slash, because U really NEED his attitude,.. this dirty experiance on stage, while high or drunk and still play well,.. just to try to steal some licks from solos and put them new together does not make u sound like him.

I'm not a huge fan of video lessons,

if you want to play like slash learn how he thinks, there are alot of different ways to play licks and create solos, these video lesson can sometime limit you, i know that slash has a simple method for creating solos, I did this as a beginner guitarist, he plays a tune in his head, that he thinks would sound good and then for each note he will try and find it on the guitar, this is handy for the future of finding your own style and playing sense. try it!
