  • wow! that's alot! i can retire with that kind of money. hahahaha

  • the cost is in distribution of the photo diptard!!!!

motherfuck yourself you stupid lib fuck!

  • Now, I'm okay with spending a little extra for portraits of the presidents and historical figures. And if it comes from donations, or is a gift from a friend, cool. But taxpayers should not have to pay for the portrait of EVER SINGLE ONE of these guys! No way! Come on, let's use some sense her!

  • Just take a f*k picture.

  • I like the idea of portraits, just not when it comes out of my wallet.

  • This is exactly the kind of fat that Obama should cut. We have great digital cameras these days! How much for Rumsfeld again?! Good God!

  • Haha, man you are so right, such a waste of money

  • 2:44 this guy makes me laugh

  • In Finland we have a saying (you might have it too): He is not stupid who asks - he is who gives.

All the best to the artist.

  • Thumbs up littleguy! Lets make them Infamous not famous! Karl Rove, Dick Cheney, George Bush, Donald Rumsfeld all of them. They are guilty of murder over 4000. times now!

  • Maybe when the Dems take power we can be fiscally responsible and just use the portriats as mug shots.

  • Dumsfeld should turn over every penny he has to the US Government for all the BILLIONS he caused our gov't to spend because of his NUMEROUS LIES!

  • your hero dave..? lol.. What a lost kid you'd be if that were true.

  • Donald Rumsfield's has historical significance

only in the same way that Hitler does.He and Cheney and Bush will be viewed in history as evil as Hitler was! They lied and manipulated us and sent thousand of men and women to die for their lies!I don't think they ever intended to get Bin lauden because if they had they would have had nothing to fearmonger us with for the next 6 years. How would they have been able to scare us into letting them get away with all the dirty deeds they got away with?

  • He hates Rumsfield, but you gotta admit that man has historical significance, you do not understand it now, but later your kids will learn that he and Cheney started the Iraq War. He IS significant, and how much it costs is irrelevant, his portrait is average cost wise.

  • your being sarcastic, right?

  • haha we dont have national healthcare.

  • Wow if he is your hero..then u must be pretty fucked up. Rumsfeld is an insane greedy bastard along with Cheney and Wolfowitz who should be forced to fight in Iraq. They wanted to go so badly so they could make money...then they should be on the front lines fighting for their money.

  • Dave, you're a funny guy.

  • He is. Gotta love his blind faith and ignorance

  • proberly rummy is hoping that he will get the artist that painted Dorian Gray's portrait..

hang on maybe he DID but it went wrong.. THAT could explain a hell of a lot!

  • I'd like to see that portrait of Rumsfeld. I'd like to see it so I can urinate on it.

  • his too ugly and evil to have one portrait taken much less more than one! I hate the republicans with passion now, we have a stupid government that needs to be changed.

  • I say we should burn every portrait of Rummy.

  • Why would we even want a portrait, or a picture, of that creepy bastard Rumsfeld? When these Bush Administration criminals all move off to hide in Dubai with all their money we should ceremoniously burn all their garbage like their portraits.

  • how the fuck does a portrait cost 46,000 dollars?

  • It depends on the amount of time it takes. If you're talking a really good portrait painter then yes it can cost that much. This isn't something you whip off in a lazer printer. This portrait will take many weeks to make.

  • A close election's what we might face

    Recession, problems, same old mess

    Don't worry be happy

  • Pictures are better and cheaper!

Republicans are no longer in touch with reality. They need to go the way of the dodo.

Portraits should be reserved for great men like Barack Obama.

  • I was actually thinking about that. Portraits should be done for presidents and vice presidents and others main people. The rest should get pictures, alot cheaper.

    Obama/Biden '08

  • Save & be EXAMPLE in saving and stop the painting. Someone mentioned photos age. Well, from a jpg file it could be printed again and again. And with right chemicals and "paper", a print could last longer than any painting. Especially in windowed argon chamber. Maybe Obama will make a jpg file & print and a laser scan file & HOLOGRAM of himself. That would be EXAMPLE!

  • man, i should get a replica of that portrait. what a shit load of fuck.

  • Sumumuvabitch!

  • hahaha rummy is such an evil FUCK

  • i wish people wold revolt! we need a REVOLUTION

  • Yea, play into their hand. We have time, they do not.

  • Our taxpayer money shouldn't be going for a $54,000.00 portrait of Dumb Rumsfeld.

Instead, Rumsfeld should turn over everything he owns to the American treasury -- for costing American Taxpayers billions with his idiotic perdictions and promises about the Iraq War.

  • By the way,..

It's free to hang politicians from street lights

  • We should waste bullets and bombs on the government.

  • Greed will be the ultimate demise of America if the people don't take control. Does anyone remember the French Revolution?

    OFF WITH THEIR HEADS!!!!

  • seriously. We need a revolution. But I'm sure that if the french had a manipulative mainstream media brainwashing them the revolution wouldn't have happened.

  • EXCELLENT post man, love the reference to that classic statement.

    "OFF WITH THEIR HEADS!!!!"

    Pleasing thought eh?..

  • A photo may be a terrible substitute however,Rumsfield was also a terrible substitute. I agree presidents should all be done but perhaps the american people should be able to vote on the rest.Well on second thought that didn't work in New York where Bloomberg has just decided he is too important so therefor he didn't care that the people said no he has just overridden them. What the people want matters less and less to these people. Thats why they do one thing and say another!

  • Portraits of everyone in government is ridiculous. But as a professional oil painter, I want to clarify that $25k-$50k is within the market standard. At least they're not overpaying for these things. A single portrait of each President would be fine. Those, I think, are a legitimate part of our cultural record. They aren't just for this generation, but later ones too. Photographs have a short life span, but paintings can last for hundreds of years. A photo is a terrible substitute.

  • If the economy keeps on going the way it is, all we will see is Black Velvet painted portraits, by Mexican craftsmen, decorating the walls of every government building.

  • "Well, I'm going to stop earmarks- Oh! That's a great picture of Donald Rumsfeld..."

    Heart "The Young Turks"!!!

  • So what does a fiscal conservative mean again??

  • they are still nobility, the system is neo-feudalism and they still keep the old traditions, and the military in particular is always a fascist state in a state, your beloved troops are an archaic paternalistic system where criminals like rumsfeld will be honored, the guilt is not just on the leaders but everyone who bows to them and lets relatives bow to them

  • There are families all over this country sleeping in cars and animals being turned into shelters all bacuse these people have lost their homes and the best the republicans do is to say "let them eat cake". For Christ sake these are the most incompetent misserable excuses for human beings ever. People around them are suffering and they are out get 40 thousand dollar portraits and 150 thousand dollar wordrobes! It's incrediable!

  • And they wonder HOW our economy got into the state its in. The government continues to WASTE our money. When will it end?

  • that motherfucker ain't worth a polaroid

  • lmao, that just made my day.

    well said.

  • In about twenty minutes I am going to walk my dog and she will produce a very fine likeness of Rumsfield for nothing. We will donate it ! Problem solved. All this from the party that is gonna end wasteful goverment spending. Oh Yeah tell me another one!

  • sonmabitch!!

  • Imagine having to look at John Bolton's Jabba the hut neck and pushbroom 'stache... it cost 7,500$ WHATTHEFUCK.

  • $46,000 could buy some good healthcare for returning soldiers.

  • or education that keeps them from becoming soldiers in the first place..

  • $46,000 is more than I make in a year. This is bogus.

  • I'll tell you what we're gonna do with it. CHANGE IT! Fire all the old system thieves and replace them with REAL AMERICANS for THE PEOPLE!

  • They're throwing trillions around and you're worried 'bout a couple thousand here or there?

  • hell ya! every penny they rob from the american people is money that could be used to better education, health care, and scientific research. They have NO right to do what they are doing, spending thousands of dollars on every portrait, thats the definition of PORK BARREL spending, and if its a few thousand here, and a few thousand there, that adds up to millions and eventually billions of dollar. I'm furious about the entire situtation. and who the hell is Rumsfeld to get a portrait anyway?

  • of course it is not something that can even be seen on the economy, but therefore it is still wrong, simple and easy. that money could have benn used otherwise, but those idiots gets portraits of themself because they think they are god in people's eyes. but they arent, and as cenk says, they should take a FREAKING picture, or pay for the portrait themselfs.

  • I can understand the argument for supporting the bailout. I cannot understand the reason for spending $25,000 to $50,000 on a fucking portrait for a politiclown individual.

  • really? I want to do one of myself.

  • thats is pretty fucked up, especailly considering how much an ass don boy was.

and why is mccain agaist earmarks, the things that run the goverment, but for portraits, that hav nothing to do with anything?

  • Art thieves need to get on that shit

  • Cenk, I was gonna say "why bother" until you mentioned Jimmy Carter. Fuck these hypocritical, monomanical Republican assfuckshits.

  • SPECIAL BULLETIN: This is to announce that I am a portrait artist and I'm willing to paint for US government officials. Since I just bought my first paint-by-numbers set this morning, I'll give a 10% discount.

If Palin is qualified to be V.P., I'm a qualified portrait artist.

  • I can almost see the National Portrait Gallery from my apartment, so I guess I am too. Yaaaay, easy money!!!

  • Rudy - I'm penciling you in for President. :)

  • If I'm elected, will you paint the official portrait?

  • I'm going to hire my cat to do the job and charge twice the rate. :)

  • Gimme a break!

    Americans are idiots!

Now they bail out the rich!

What a joke they are to the world!

  • Hey sugarpuddin88, I may live in a part of the country that doesn't love America according to Palin, but you're the joke. We pee all over your French sidewalks. And you better be careful or we're sending the Governor of California to beat you up.

  • Rudy - what a silly little bigoted redneck you are!

Many people can talk - I served my country and am in fact, a disabled veteran

It was Ben Franklin, who spent much time in France, who said, "They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety"

  • Rudy - alrighty then

  • Hey smart ass, grow the fuck up.

You people sure love Vets until they state their opinions on why and how war has impcted there lives.

Your fucking typical of needle dick assholes that think they matter.

    Get fucked big gwuy.

  • what are you going to do with this govt? VOTE IT OUT!

  • Juliact

    Gimme a break!

The USA has only one more choice than the old Soviet Russia

As long as soulless corporations can legally bribe politicians, you can't have a democracy!

In 1994 Dole & Clinton forged a rule to block anyone but Republicrats and Democins from running

  • Interesting about Carter, didn't know that....never really understood why everyone says he was so bad. Camp David? Habitat for Humanity? I mean, anyone?

  • I suspect it was the Iran hostage crisis. It made him look weak. Then again, I hear conspiracy theories that Reagan cut a deal with the Iranians not to release the hostages until after the election. I hope thats bs. I may not like Reagan, but that is some evil, anti-American shit, and I don't think Rove was part of Reagan campaign staff then.

  • It's a white thing...

Like the knights and kings and there castle..

    meh

  • God gave me a portrait of Rumsfeld right in the middle of the crack in my a55.

  • i'll tell ya what to do Cenk, start a revolution and overthrow this motherfucker.

  • No, that is unwise. You don't go in and wipe out institutions. It causes chaos. The best change is thoughtful and from within and gradual.

Great video as always Cenk! Isn't hypocrisy overrated though? Lol.

  • Question ... did they spend an outrageous amounts of money on portraits of McCain?

    How often?

    How much?

  • McCain: " Oh thats a great picture of Rumsfeld mmmmmm "

    LOL

  • Kings and Queens get portraits not under secretaries in the gov.

  • Man FUCK GOVERNMENT PORTRAITS! The richass whackmonkeys can pay for them themselves!

  • What a fucking tool.

  • 1:11 lol

    SUM-MA-MA BITCH!!

    Cenk is hilarious

  • LOL at 2:48!!!!!

  • I almost always disagree with this guy, however, I completely agree with this specific video. Thats bullshit

  • I Hate Rumsfeld with his aspartame and bird flu scams. Not to mention he's the one who approved the tourtue in Abu Ghraib. He's a real piece of work that needs a portrait all right !

  • Like you, Monkeyboy?

  • Nice slip into Bernie Mac there.

    Nice job Cenk!

    Lol.... Sumama-Bitch.

  • Wasn't Rummy fired?

  • You have got to be one arrogant SOB to get a 46 thousand dollar picture taken of yourself. Good lord.

  • That's what politics is all about - building monuments to yourself, whether its a huge trillion-dollar debt for the invasion of a country under false pretenses, or a $46K portrait. It's all the same pathological, self-aggrandizing bullshit.

  • "Who needs a picture of this son of a bitch" haha

  • Keep up the great stories. Maybe someday the American people will actually get angry.

  • wtf

  • While I agree it's ridiculous to have official portraits made of everyone, I do see some value in the tradition of having a portrait done of each President. What I don't get is why it costs so much. I would think there are tons of artists who would actually compete to paint THE official Presidential portrait for free. Even for a horrib;e President like Dubya, there's got to be a level of prestige in being the artist who paints the official portrait.

  • i'd pay for a portrait of palin! :P

  • only if shes nude :P

  • we dont call those portraits we call that porn:)

  • Spam is more like it. I thought portraits were reserved for people that actually matter. Now everyone and their mother is getting one.

  • RUMMY!!!

  • since we paid for those portraits, can we draw mustaches and beards on them?

  • I'll supply the sharpies :)

  • SUMMAMABITCH!!!

Cenk you owe royalties to Bernie... and you know it!!!

    Great vid!

    08'ama/Biden

  • bernie? i'm confused, where did he get that from?

  • Bernie Mack,,,may he rest in peace,,I'm just sorry he won't be here to see Obama become President of The United States of America!!

    OBAMA/BIDEN'08

  • Washington Post Staff Writer Saturday, February 17, 2007; F01 .... The C3 toilet seats cost from $750 to $1300 (toilets are sold separately), ... Damn no wonder Portraits cost so much!!!!

    OBAMA/BIDEN'08

  • 46k would be the price of the camera and lens the photog used for that portrait. Some of the most sought after fine-

art photography in the world costs no more than 10k. Brad Pitt's wedding was shot on plastic toy cameras for 50k.

  • Everybody Get up off your Keister

    VOTE VOTE VOTE VOTE

Each vote for OBAMA/BIDEN is another nail in

    McCains Political Coffin!!!!

    McCain.....Your ass is Toast!!!

    OBAMA/BIDEN'08

  • i'd just print it like JohnDeBunkTest said, and chuck darts at it or use it as toilet paper or something

  • what with the what?! $46,000?! What the hell?! How is that even possible?!

.. are we sure they're not just *saying* that is costs that much, and then pocketing the difference on the side?

  • A Portrait of McCain will be worth 2 cents.

after Nov.4th..Hell he won't even be able to give them away!!!

    OBAMA/BIDEN'08 OBAMA/BIDEN'08 OBAMA/BIDEN'08

    OBAMA/BIDEN'08 OBAMA/BIDEN'08 OBAMA/BIDEN'08

and just in case you did'nt get it!!

    OBAMA/BIDEN'08 OBAMA/BIDEN'08 OBAMA/BIDEN'08

    OBAMA/BIDEN'08 OBAMA/BIDEN'08 OBAMA/BIDEN'08

  • 40, 000 for a fucking portrait?? what the fuck doe th portrait do, does it talk to you or what ? that is exaggerated.

  • "This government, what are we gonna do with it?"

chuck it and get a government who cares about the little guy instead of the fat cat who is batting the little guy between his paws.

  • Whoaaa are you serious? We could be using that money to help out the people and bring down some of this debt. Why on Earth do they cost so much? Are they special, magical portraits? Is it because of a business reason? I don't know, they look like Kodaks to me, lol.

  • This is a result of SHEER ARROGANCE.

A picture won't do for them bcuz they think they are SOOOOO important and SOOOOO significant and their lives are SOOOOOO much more meaningful then ours that they can do ANYTHING they want and they want a portrait so an artist can capture their TRUE MAGNIFICENCE.

Sometimes I swear I just want to know where these fuckers live. BUT FUCK THAT. They ain't worth spending the rest of my life in prison for.

  • Cenk, you funny man....lol...still crackin up

  • its kinda idiot human nature, we are the few of animals on this earth that are self aware that we are born and then we die. And most fear death with a passion so at least leave me my legacy or at least my goofy ass portrait all over the place, and don't forget me when I'm gone, I can't blame you to much just silly humans

  • $46,000.oo for a portrait?

    Thats

    $45,999.95 too much.

Just pop off a cell phone snap and print it on the old 9 pin printer. Mount it with a thumb tack.

  • I would actually charge to be forced to see it.

  • 40 cents just to say "i met with a loser"

  • America has become 15th century England.

England has become 17th century America...sort of.

  • 46000 dollars? Dang, I need to switch careers.

  • war criminal

  • oh they know who Norm Mineta is. They paid him off to not tell his story anymore of what happened at the Pentagon during 9/11.

  • I wouldn't mind paying that much. as long as the portrait is of me punching him in the face.

  • lol

  • I'll send them a digital camera and a printer if they need it.

  • this is infuriating...there needs to be a fucking law to change that shit...we do NOT need portraits of these crooks! If they want it so fucking bad, have THEM pay for it!

  • Rumsfeld is a war criminal. He approved the torture of prisoners. Torture is a war crime. He must be tried and executed.

  • war criminal

  • impeach rumsfeld!

  • For what, specifically?

  • for capital treason in context of civilian warfare

  • War crimes

  • For being a doofus.

  • Is that a joke or do you not remember he resigned?
