I have Betty's same disease, and the movie reflects a very close reality of the disease, i'm so scared about the end of my story, i dont want to go like her.
Omg... this scene makes me always cry..."37 2 le matin" (Betty Blue) is one of the best movies i've ever seen... Anglades & Dalle performances are breathtaking!!!...thanks for sharing!xxx
in tears right now... why do I always cry when the white cat starts talking??? LOL! it's a genius scene really it is... <3 Love this movie... forever!
What a great movie. I still crack up when I see the last scene though. When he talks to the cat, the cat turns around like, "Who the f*ck are you talking to?"
ESTAR SOLOS NOS Enfrenta A LOS MIEDOS PROPIOS QUE SOLO SE CURAN SI SOMOS CAPACES DE MIRARLOS A LA CARA..LA ALEGRIA DE LA SOLEDAD APARECE CUANDO BUSCAMOS DENTRO
Wait. Zorg commited suicide? Wha? Did I miss something? Did I read that other comment right?
If so, I completely, and totally, missed it. I always remembered the ending as him living on and finishing his book, and probably getting it published in memory of her?
Just gave me a scare when I read that last comment somewhere there, I thought he killed himself or something. o.o All I saw was a pot boiling and a load of.. bottle stuff, on the table, and I was like... IT CAN'T BE TRRUUEEE. ;O;
is it just me or anybody else understood this as Betty running away one night and then Zorg started writing the rest of the story (Betty starting with the schyzophrenia symptoms and the rest). So he writes this crazy over the top story while Betty is already gone (notice the scene when he met the cat). The obvious end of the story is him commiting suicide right afterwards the hospital scene, however he uses some time to think over the perfect ending. ok, just me blabing...
Makes one think of the tribulations of ones own life. If one sheds tears to this it's due to ones own self awarenes - an observer consciousness that points at ones difficulties & weeps for the narcissitic idealism that one needs 2let go of. In short - boo (fuckin) hoo - get the fuck over it.
I'm a Sci-Fi nerd, I'm into Star Wars and alike, for me to love this film is saying something. I remember watching it when I was younger, indeed the music does bring tears to my eyes, "the promise of the piano", I like that and then when the guitar cuts in... perfect!
Jeepers creepers, I thought I was the only one who sat at the kitchen eating dinner out of a pot, cheap beer opened, a loaf of bread, in a wifebeater writing magazine articles with a pen in the dark with a talking cat staring at me the entire time. Serious!
I've been haunted by this film since childhood. So beautiful, so sad... yet perfect. It captures the madness of being totally and literally madly in love which I've I see in myself sometimes; it's reasuring to know it's not just me. Does anyone know what this piano piece is? I've never been able to find it or even to findout what it's called.
This film stays with you for ever.... Saw it first many years ago, but the music also captivated me.. That piano is sooo hauntingly beautiful, and yes, the end of the film with just him and the cat... !! I am now on a mission to find out more about the music....

i have seen this move for the 1st time back in 1986, and fell in love with it!! it is one of my 3 fav movies, Il Postino, Cinema Paradiso and Betty Blue!!
betty betty what a best foreigner movie great actors and the music awesome the escenery beautifull i saw the movie 5 years ago i always watch it in my spare time congratulations to the director from peru to france
For all fans of those quiet, foreign films I highly recommend "Der Krieger und die Kaiserin" ("The Warrior and the Princess") from German director Tom Tykwer. Maybe you start to like German cinema, too? =)
I first saw it with English subtitles because that was the only version available. Fortunately a French friend bought me a copy in French without the subtitles - merveilleux!
It hasn't dated at all and still moves me to tears nearly 20 years on.
The truly sad part about Beatrice Dalle was that she actually did end up going crazy after making this movie - as have a few other people after incredible acting performances in their respective movies ...
What the inner mind takes in -interprets and develops ... is anyone's guess ...
Why don't we in the English speaking world make films like this. Why do we accept Denzil Washington rolling over the bonnet of a car as entertainment? No wonder the French think everyone outside of France is retarded.
Like very boby, it is also my all time favourite film. The ending clip is great. Thank you for posting. I also like very much the scene where Zorg and Betty were playing together in the piano shop. If someone has the score of this piano music in PDF would great.
I have a DVD copy of the original French release version. Personlly, I prefer the international release version, which I believe is the one most of you are talking about.
Well i was going to go to bed, but i saw this clip, now i have to stay up and watch the most absorbing film of my life. i was introduced to this beautiful movie ten years ago, i have shown it to countless people, but i am totally obsessed, i wish i was in France, the music is beautiful, and i can play most of it too, for piano solo. What vision they had back then. and to think my favourite band originally called themselves betty blue. It all makes sense, oui, jolie comme un couer x
I've seen this film over the weekend with my friend and I must say it TOTALLY absorbed me. I loved it and it's definitelly one of my most favourite ones. The tune is awesome. Love it!
the poster of this film is still used in pretentious students dorms and flats, probably havent even watched this film either,if you havent then check it out.
i saw this film at the movies when it was first released and went out and bought the record (remember those?). posters of beatrice dalle were common in student flats back then. it is still my favourite film and the music is beautiful. good things don't date.
this was the first film that just blew me away,I was ten and, well nothings come close since, stunning.the books great, but for me the mixture of yareds soundtrack and the chemistry of the two leads beats it handsdown.the ending with the cat is genius. If anyone else cant get the song outta their heads check 'avril 14th' by aphex twin,u wont be dissapointed.
that cat really feels at home but first looks at him saying : who the hell are you ? and when he's answering after betty's question and the cat looks around , thinking : who the hell are you talking to ? : )
a bit like pope john paul 2nd when he came to the balcony at midnight of the millinium : first going wtf ? followed by Ohhh this is cool !!...
the cat glances over to us sayin (in my opinion) 'I told you he'd make it',it wraps the final seconds ina protective cloak of sorts,,,sorry, tho,I must admit I was gnawing my face off on bad E's come millenium night so forgot bout the pope till he popt it (r.i.p)
at the time too i thought it was just such a perfect ending with that cat and the whole homely setting and yes you're right about th cat too. cat only knows what he was thinking but i've had a few versions : )
perfect non the less.
and if you ever find that moment with the pope , you'll see what i mean ! it was a classic !..grumpu old 'i can't be fcked anymore' attitude...followed by ohhh this is really cool ! (you could see his spirits lifting like you on E...: )
I am sorry, my english is better but I wish you the best!
This film has followed me throughout my life - I bought it for someone special a long time ago and watche dit out of boredom and it has stuck with me ever since.
Similar story for me except that I saw it at the movies in the 80s and has been my favourite film since then! I didn't know there is a book. I must get it.
a beautiful, powerful movie, and beatrice dalle was just so perfect for the part.
saw this for the first time with a movie 'group' . some of them walked out after the first 10min . old 'foggies' what a wonderful film they missed.

this was the first film that just blew me away,I was ten and, well nothings come close since, stunning.the books great, but for me the mixture of yareds soundtrack and the chemistry of the two leads beats it handsdown.the ending with the cat is genius.

a bit like pope john paul 2nd when he came to the balcony at midnight of the millinium : first going wtf ? followed by Ohhh this is cool !!...
just one of those moments ./.

the cat glances over to us sayin (in my opinion) 'I told you he'd make it',it wraps the final seconds ina protective cloak of sorts,,,sorry, tho,I must admit I was gnawing my face off on bad E's come millenium night so forgot bout the pope till he popt it (r.i.p)

at the time too i thought it was just such a perfect ending with that cat and the whole homely setting and yes you're right about th cat too. cat only knows what he was thinking but i've had a few versions : )
perfect non the less.
and if you ever find that moment with the pope , you'll see what i mean ! it was a classic !..grumpu old 'i can't be fcked anymore' attitude...followed by ohhh this is really cool ! (you could see his spirits lifting like you on E...: )

I am sorry, my english is better but I wish you the best!

If you like film and you like art then Betty Blue is a truely great Arty film. I love this movie so much
that my desktop has the image from the cover of the movie. I have even brought copies to give to friends.

Similar story for me except that I saw it at the movies in the 80s and has been my favourite film since then! I didn't know there is a book. I must get it.

An amazing last scene to an amazing film. I can watch this scene again and again purely for the beautiful tune and feeling Zorg's pain.
Thankyou for this clip.
PS. Is this piano tune on the soundtrack or not?
