They have no relation to Goku whatsoever.

And third, if my comment was invalid, Goten wouldn't have become a Super Saiyan. Plus, he has more could have had potential as explained by Goku and Gohan. But there is another case, it could have been the DNA inherited from Goku's ability to transform before Goten's conception. Which was my first theory.
