The thing about the "show must go on" is nobody knew Owen's condition until he arrived at the hospital. Wrestlers get injured in the ring constantly, and the show goes on. Yes, this "injury" appeared more serious, but Owen didn't die right then and there in the ring, he died later on. Should Vince have called it off after it came to light that Owen had passed? Who's to say what should have been? It's been outed that Vince regrets his decision, but didn't know what to do. Let's let it be.
man honestly i think there is some kind of footage not by the fans but by tha wwe im not askin can i see it but im willing to put money that some where some how there is sum kind of footage if so the only ppl that have it are the wwe and you will never see it bt dam ppl stop being so dam dumb if there was sum kind of footage by a fan why wud it b on youtube they wud take it down soon as it wud b put up rip owen man thats fuckin sad
Wow, absolutely no enthusiasm in the crowd whatsoever. Part of it might be due to Owen's situation, but I suspect most of it's due to the fact that it's garbage wrestling compared to late 80s/early 90s.
@unclestrug the attitude era beats every other era of wrestling. not just wwe but tna, wcw, ecw etc. the attitude era had the rock, stone cold, the undertaker at his best, kane at his best, triple h, owen hart(RIP) etc etc.
@unclestrug so your saying being a fan of wrestling gods like stone cold and the rock is low standard. need i remind you that the rock beat hulk hogan TWICE! most of the others i mentioned beat hogan as well. and everyone i mentioned is WAY more entertaining than hogan ever was. so there, the biggest wrestling star of the 80s and he's utterly outclassed in every way by attitude.
@anthony77343 yeah I think I'd agree with that. But I think Rock and Austin are better. For one, their really good at cutting promos, and another good attribute is that their move sets in the ring were awesome. hogans basic move set consisted of big boots to the head followed up by a leg drop.
Thanks for the upload SVR08Guy. Ive never seen this PPV. Looking back, it's amazing how popular wrestling was at this time. Even guys like X Pac got big reactions from the crowd. Also, the Corporate Ministry theme was sweet.
Billy Gunn didn't celebrate the win, he just walked out, his mind was on Owen as was everyone elses. I heard Stephanie was balling crying in the back, she was very close to Owen, once said she looked at him as an older brother type.
@jason2156 r.i.p, all of them greatly missed. it had to be painful for all of these guys, like owen said when he broke austin's neck, 'how do you decide, 'does the show go on?' or do we just stop it for this guy's health? it's just so hard to know'
@jason2156 u forgot Eddie Guerrero, Chris Benoit and Crash Holly and I cannot think whom else but if you are talking about this PPV then yes you are right?
@Ndure13 Haha. I know. Viscera ... Mable. He was always a joke. So was this entire Corporate Ministry. No wonder I quit watching wrestling after 1998. It declined so badly after the "fad" phase from the Monday Night Wars. All those temporary fans left wrestling in a crater ... a crater in which it still is having trouble climbing out of. Men on a Mission ... Mable. Haha.
wikipedia claims that there is video footage of the fall. i have yet to find it though. lets think about something though... there would have to be security cameras in the building that would have caught it. especially an arena of that size.
why would the WWF spend money on an entrance hence the harness and safety men and not air it, I have always wondered if VKM had something to do with it. RIP Owen
you know its amazing u can hear it in king and jr's voices that something aint right. Sad doesnt begin to describe this. Gotta give wrestlers credit for performing under those circumstances
its a shame that he was never wwf champion... he was in the wwf then he went indepedent, then he went to the ecw part of the wwe, then tna but never on the top?
Do you really want to see the death of Mr.Hart 'eh..? Not 1 person has it on video as know1 was expecting it to happen, the promo of the Blazer was being shown so the camera's weren't rolling.
Actually no fans recorded any video, yet just pictures of the fall, but no pictures of him in mid air- yet hitting the ring, just up above getting ready to jump and laying in ring. If there was videos, it would already be shown. The only footage is one video, from the PPV, Owen's wife has a copy and WWF/WWE has a copy. Never to be shown ever.
Because there wasn't many video cameras alowed in WWF around this time. It happened too fast for anyone to react to it, the only footage is from WWF and they won't ever release it.
I guess that's true, but nobody did because there was a promo going on the titantron, nobody knew Owen was coming from the top. Even if someone recorded it, which nobody did, we would have already seen the video on the internet.
Or maybe there isn't any footage except what was captured by WWF. Like I said, nobody else has footage of it, Nobody would be filming the ring waisting footage for no reason while a promo is on the Titantron.
There's no video dipshit. This was 1999, back then those type of cameras were rare. Also, he fell 78 feet which you fall 75 feet per second. No footage.
they have security cameras, and the wwe has every part of the building filmed. they have it on tape. one copy was sent to martha, owen's wife, and wwe has a copy in there video vault.
also, at this time in 1999, video cameras were fairly bulky, not compact as they are today. Not as easy to take with you to an event like this. And I think with the morbid and insensitive nature of people today, if there was a videotape or photo of it floating around out there somewhere, we would have seen it by now. you're right in that we'll never KNOW 100% if anyone was recording or not... but I also agree with Lazweski. It's HIGHLY unlikely at this point, 10 years later, that anyone was.
Owen's nerves were all full of adreniline [sp?] and yeah, he tried to sit up twice, and then he layed on the mat with his face towards a cameraman. How do I know this? I read the book about Owen Hart. The best book I have ever read I'd think. But yeah, he did. And it says in the book Mick was standing where Owen landed.
RIP Owen, I love you and want to see you some day my hero and idol.
no owen landed on the opposite side of where mick's standing mick foley was wrong about what he said about owen hart he also said he tried sitting up when he hit there's no way that could happened owen was knocked out as soon as he hit and died 6 minutes later
In Mick Foley's book, he said that the Union's corner where he was standing, right in front of him was the hole in the ring made by Owen when he fell. It's hard to see on this though.
jason i dont think jr saying those on purpose he didnt even know owen had passed at that moment.he was also friends with him so he wouldnt make jokes about him.
you would think jim ross would be wise enough not to make "dead jokes" in part 8 he said "dx may not be dead but is terminal" and here he said "how many (?) did they have to kill to get that piece of apparell,(referring to visceras jacket.)
