i have the infinty refrence 6030cs and they are loud and clear. i run my crossover at 0db for my tweeter. I just got a pair of polk db series components for the rear and hope they sound as good. i'm waiting for some warmer weather to put them in.
I'm looking to run four 6.5 coax speakers from an Alpine 2-channel amp, but because these Infinitys have only 2 ohms of resistance, by combining them it will be a 1 ohm load (not including the resistance of the 16 gauge speaker wire), and this concerns me greatly. This is why I'm looking at other speaker brands that have 4 ohm impedance -- I don't want to overtax my amplifier while listening at higher volume levels at dangerously low impedance levels (the amp is rated down to 2 ohms).
@sideskraft Please accept my apologies for the delayed response. What you say is logical and certainly legitimate. I will only add that the speakers, while marketed as a 2 Ohm load, actually spec out to around 2.7 Ohms nominal. The idea is; when you include the resistance of the speaker wire and the heat of the voice coil as it begins to play, the Infinity speakers actually present a true 4 Ohm impedance. Feel free to call for additional assistance: 800.315.0030--Crutchfield
@LilFeezyFly Yes. The Kappa series are the "Step up" models from the Reference line. They generally offer more power handling, greater efficiency, better materials, and a 3 year warranty on both parts & labor. (The Reference have a 1 year warranty). Feel free to call for additional assistance: 800.315.0030--Crutchfield
@LilFeezyFly Please accept my apologies for the delayed response. If they are “Fried” due to a manufacturer failure or defect, then yes, you would be covered within the warranty period. If they are fried because they were overpowered or wired incorrectly, then they would not be covered. Feel free to call for additional assistance: 800.315.0030--Crutchfield
@NguyenEmpir3 "Ohm" is the measurement of resistance in an electrical circuit. The Infinity speakers spec out to be around 2.7 Ohms. Feel free to call for additional assistance: 800.315.0030--Crutchfield
Oh, if it were only that easy. It depends on so many things. What's best for one might not be the best for someone else. It depends on your personal preferences, how much power you have, what car, what music you listen to, etc.
It's like asking, "what's better, Ford or Chevy?"
If you call us we can help you get the best speakers for your car, with all your particular needs taken into account.
Right non man, so, here's what you do next, give us a call and our Advisors will ask you some more questions and make a recommendation on which one is better for you.
As you may or may not know, JBL and Infinity are owned by the same company, so there may be a lot of similarities in the two lines of speakers.
Call us, 800 315 0030, or you can email us from the link at the top of The Crutchfield Website. We don't do specific recommendations in You Tube Comments.
They no longer come with free headphones. But we have plenty of headphone options at Crutchfield, and the infinity speakers are buy-one-get-one-half-off till June 19th. Good deal.
hey can you hook up a crossover to a speaker that has a built in tweeter in it will it affect the speaker and tweeter or will it sound better with or without a crossover???
Yes and No. There are different types of crossovers, some go before an amp, most amps have crossovers in them, and a select few connect to the speaker, Bass Blockers are the most common type of "passive crossover." Yes, you can use them with full range speakers because all they do is take out low frequencies and let high frequencies pass.
We can help you determine if you need that kind of crossover or not, just call us: 800 315 0030.
The question might be, "how do you want to compre them?" ezlim. Do you want to go on pure sound quality, or do you want to compare them based on overall volume?
Either way, Infinily speakers should play louder, and very clear with that kind of Pioneer power.
Don't lie to customers. Most people couldn't tell the difference between 2 Ohm and 4 Ohm speakers, but saying that 2 Ohm sounds better is just false. It may be louder, but the sound quality is going to suffer a bit. Sad to see crutchfield would say something like that.
This whole 2-ohm/4-ohm thing is very perplexing. You obviously know about audio because you know that lower impedance means higher power, but also raises the distortion level.
Car receivers are designed to sound their best at 4-ohm. But when 4-ohm speakers are connected the amp usually "sees" higher than 4-ohm. That's due to the length and size of speaker wire, especially when it heats up. 2-ohm speakers end up presenting the amp with closer to 4-ohms, sounding louder, and better.
@eldarragi Don't think I'd even say a lower ohm impedance is louder. Take this for example. If you turn up a low ohm speaker really loud, you'll have to limit yourself because of potential distortion at a certain point. Whereas if you have a higher ohm load, you can turn them up louder because you have less distortion to worry about. If everything car audio was digital though like many home systems, everything I said could end up being wrong.
a pioneer head unit that is 50 watts x4 is max power almost all decks put out 15-20 watts x4 continuos rms power @ 4 ohms i found that out 11 years ago when i got my 1st deck my advice go with the best lowest costing deck in the store so no one will steal it out of your car thats why i have never had a deck stolen
infinity speakers reference speakers kick everyone elses butt they have great bass and treble on all models
Are the 2 ohm design in the newer model only? I have a semi older 6.5 reference component set and i wasnt sure if they were 2 ohm design, the crossover case is the black case, so its maybe a few years old if that. Thanks,
Infinity has been doing 2-ohm speakers for 5 or 6 years now. You can probably find the model number on the magnet of the speaker. If so, enter that into the searc field on the Crutchfield website, or call us, we can tell you for sure if you have 2 or 4 ohm speakers.
Can a pioneer headset of MOSFET 50wx4,4 ohm design drive these beatiful speaker with ease at decent loud level? Dealers advise not ideal without external amp. Can any expert double confirm? And if my back speakers is 4 ohm and front with 2 ohm does it cause problems?
These speakers are designed to sound louder and clearer than many other speakers from a factory radio or an aftermarket, like you Pioneer Mosfet radio.
Also, they can handle more power than that, and will certainly sound their best when driven by an amp pushing close to their maximum RMS power handling.
It is not a problem to use 2-ohm speakers and 4-ohm speakers on the same radio.

Boston acoustic sr60 rated 2-55rms 91db
Infinity6030 rated 2-90rms 93db. So which is a easier load from a pioneer head unit 50x4 MOSFET. How do we compare them? Thanks.
