Pentium D and Pentium 4 HT are not the same cpus, Pentium D has 2 physical cores in one processor, and 4 HT has 1 physical core with 2 logical logical cores wich is slower than Pentium D

hi i have intel pentium dual cpu e2200 2,20GHz 2,22Ghz, 2,00ram will the game with minimal demand for intel core 2 duo e6600 work on my computer? (the game i want to play is call of duty black ops)
i think the difference about the two is Dual Core has 2 cores and 2 thread while Core 2 Duo has 2 cores and 4 threads which makes Core 2 Duo a lot more faster than the Dual Core Processors..
the pentium D was a pentium 4 prescott side by side on one die and the core duo is the first dual core cpu every thing after the core duo was based off of that chip everthing from celeron to the core 2 quad
The Pentium D is discontinued but you might still see it in stores because it's just a year old. The Pentium D was discontinued last year. The difference between Pentium D and Pentium Dual-Core is the microarchitecture. The Pentium D uses the decade old Netburst architecture that is found in the Pentium 4 and the Pentium Dual-Core is basically a core 2 duo with less cache.
I just wanted to say that the new Pentium dual-core's are really good budget cpu's. The E5200 is better than the original core 2 duo's and it can overclock past 3.5GHz easily. The Pentium E5200 when overclocked is just as good if not better than more expensive Core 2 duo's at stock speeds. The absolutely only difference between pentium dual-core and Core 2 duo is cache size. If you're on a tight budget and want intel then it's ok to get Pentium Dual-core as long as it's at least an E5200.
True that. No game (so far) uses more than 2 cores (depending on your clock speed). Quad cores weren't originally made for gaming. Programmers used them. I bought a 2.8ghz core 2 duo, and i'm going to overclock it to 3.5ghz. Dual cores are more stable when overclocking. I bought the most stable core 2 duo out there the E6300. You can't get much better than that for stable overclocking.
you might, i just found out that there are dual core p4, but i think it might just be hyper-threaded whish is kinda a dual core, but know where near the core duo are c2d, hope i helped, just google it.
No the Pentium 4 is not dual core but it does have hyper threading technology which allows it to act as if it is a dual core cpu. The Pentium 4 is a single core CPU even though it can act like a dualcore. The Pentium D is actually two Pentium 4's on one chip and they don't use hyperthearding technology.
@tbro227 You don't know shit bro, stop making up stuff that are all WRONG. Dual core p4 is branded PENTIUM D. HYPER THREADING is 1 worker, 2 data pipe. Core 2 DUO/QUAD Pentium dual core( Duo/dual =2) Quad = 4) PENTIUM DUAL CORE is a strip down version of CORE 2 DUO NOT to be mistaken with Pentium D which is based on 2 pentium 4 dies on 1 chip
@tbro227 its not a dual core. hyper threading is splitting a core and its resources. This allows it to preform faster in multi threaded applications. But sometimes slower in non multi threaded apps (like some games). If you open up task manager it seems it as 2 cores. One is a virtual core. I have 2 older pentium 4 3Ghz computers. One thats socket 478 (3Ghz 800mhz fsb and 1MB of cache) and a newer socket 775 pentium 4 3Ghz thats 3Ghz 800mhz fsb and 2MB of cache. I have a couple others too
@Gun10001 Pentium 4 has a technology called Hyper Threading, and what it does is simulate 2 processors, with 1 thread each, so in task manager you will see 2 threads but it really is 1 processor. You can turn hyper threading off in bios, and then it will work like a normal processor.
According to my Research the Pentium Dual core E5200 can run Crysis at 28 FPS at 1680x1050 resolution and the Core 2 duo E8600 at the same resolution and same hardware runs Crysis at 34 FPS. Crysis is the most demanding game to date! There is only a 6 FPS difference! The Core 2 duo is $269.99 at NewEgg and the Pentium Dual Core is $69.99 at NewEgg! On newer games you're going to get at least a solid 40-50 FPS with the pentium Dual Core on High resolutions with high detail. Is it worth $200 more?
What the fuck kind of processor where you looking at? My core 2 duo (that i got off newegg) is an E6300 and it was only 80 bucks and i switched from a pentium dual core to a core 2 duo. I get at least 38 more fps on gta4 then i did before. My old processor was 90 bucks. How do you explain that?
Core 2 duo E6300 Specs, 1.83GHz, 2MB cache, 1066MHz FSB And it has the old Conroe core which is older than the Wofdale core and is a 65nm cpu. That is a 3 year old processor.
Now compare that with The Pentium Dual core E6300 specs, 2.8GHz, 2MB cache, 1066MHz FSB, and it has the newer Wofdale core and is a 45nm cpu. This processor just came out months ago.
By the way the Pentium E6300 is only $80.99 on newegg a much better CPU than what you got for the same price. I'd get a refund.
I know but there are two different E6300 processors. There's a core 2 duo one and a pentium dual core one and the Pentium dual core E6300 is better. I don't know why intel gave them the same model numbers. Really according to my benchmarks the pentium E5200 is almost as good as a core 2 duo E8500 and when overclocked it supasses it. The E5200 Pentium dual core can easily overclock past 3.5GHz. That's good cpu power for as little as $64.99 on newegg.
The reason these Pentium E5200 and up processors can overclock so well is because they're really just underclocked E8000 series Core 2 duo's rebranded for the midrange market. Intel made them that way so that they could easily release higher clocked versions of the same cpu and thus have lower production costs. The pentium E2000 series is crap though and I'd never buy one. That's probably what you upgraded from an e2000 series pentium dual core.
ok I read your other comments and it does apear you do have the Pentium E6300 because you said it was clocked at 2.8GHz. Yet you said it was a core 2 duo. That confused me because the Core 2 duo E6300 is much weaker.

Can some1 answer my question?
OK look i have a pentium 4 3.0 (not overclocked)
when i go to *dxdiag* it says this
Processor: Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 3.00GHz (2CPUs)
So do i have dual core or no?
Plz reply soon!!
