@ag0243 Yea, I agree with you on that. She would dominate in a MMA match, it's a totally different game, just as pure jujitsu competition is as well. I love Megumi and I think her game is real solid. But, her Sambo, Catch Wrestling and Judo, are more suited for MMA.
great finish by Felicia. I though with the Machado background she would easily handle Megumi, but Megumi is so agressive she was handling Oh pretty good
Megumi made the same mistake again in ADCC 2009 where she got RNCed by Hilary Williams. The difference is that Megumi would probably beat Felicia Oh in MMA without much trouble, but she would not against Williams.
Think about it- What would look better? Tapping out because you can admit defeat, or getting passed and laying there on the floor, twitching like some seizure victim, because you have too much pride to confess when you have been beaten? Judging by that comment, Id say youve never participated in any kind of competitive sport. Id like to pass you out and leave you there, completely humiliated and out cold. Well see how much face you save then.
floh was not playing catchup. that's 10th planet jits. what u saw there was a gameplan executed. there's a very good reason why meg was not able to get past floh's 1/2 guard. it might look like catchup to the untrained eye, but the 1/2 is one of the most powerful positions in the 10th planet system
The 1/2 might be really powerful, and Floh might have been playing a strategic game -- but it is still cheap. What if Meg had decided to lie on her back during most of the match and just let floh be the one that was aggressive? This passive resistance that we see in many wrestlers is one of the most boring things to watch.
Kyra Gracie did the same thing to Meg -- she just laid there waiting, being utterly boring.
Again, what would happen if both grapplers decide to just lie on their back?
Cheap? How is playing to your strength cheap in a tournament? Megumi and her students play submissions before position. Megumi's top game is strong but going after feet leaves you vulnerable to back attacks which is what happened in this match. She went to finish, couldn't finish and found herself in a situation where Felicia was better.
Kyra tapped Megumi in a short period of time. That is hardly passive.
Alexander Karelin went his whole career undefeated - in retirement match he met a fat American Rulon Gardner. Garner didn't do anything during the entire match. he just lay there and since Karelin had just gone a match a few hours ago he was to tired to lift the blob. So in the end the best heavyweight wrestler ever lost to a fat nobody that did absolutely nothing during the entire match.
Floh was carrying out a game plan from beginning to end. You can see thr flow chart layout of the game she played, the whole time and it always ended with a choke. Meg is awesome but this was typical catch wrestler vs jits. I don't think Meg would beat her consistantly, just don't think she would. I'm a big fan of Meg though, don't get me wrong. Course I'm a fan of Floh to.
Great job ms oh!!!

Felicia. You are awesome, and you finished and acted so honorably. That's a true champion.

you never see kyra or penny thomas in the MMA. megumi would own both of them and they know it.

I don't get why Meg tapped out. If it was me I would have let Floh choke me into unconsciousness instead. That way you don't lose as much face.

Why? WHat is the point of being choked out? Do you refuse to tap to other submissions as well?

@redskinj2007 but you must admit it hurts like a MOTHER to tap out when you're face down on the mat
