is this a quiz?? just from reading up a dust devil forms from down drafts of very low ceilings which only occur during hot or warm days. I dont believe they reach more then a few hundred feet or 60 meters high. tornado or water spouts can probably reach a few thousand feet high and form in the actual storm or front and usually create a vortex horizontally and slowly rotate in a near versicle position just before touching ground. if it doesnt touch ground or water its just a funnel cloud.

Take this explanation to "the bank", because it's 100% accurate. A tornado descends downward from a thunderstorm. The tornado is actually formed within the t-storm. Without a thunderstorm, there can be no tornado. A dust devil is simply a whirling column of air rising upwards from the sun-heated ground. Dust devils are usually very very weak when compared to actual tornadoes, although some can attain up to EF-1 strength. I'm in Arizona, we have thousands of dust devils annually. No big deal.

Twister and tornado are basically same thing. Dust devil is just a wing disturbance and water spout is just a tornado in an ocean. People think water spouts arnt as dangerous. So wrong. Water spouts can cause as much damage. I mean a water spout is just a tornado but with duhh water. If it hits land, it would become a regular tornado, but would still be considered a water spout since it was born in the water.

yes it was a dust devil because in the backround it looked like the sky was clear and blue, twisters and tornadoes cannot form unless there are at LEAST clouds in the sky. and waterspouts have to be over water. and it could not be a tornado because did not create that much damage unless it was like an F0 or something. i am not trying 2 sound like a smart ass but that is just what i think!! i study tornadoes

A spiralling wind like that is not considered even a tornado unless it is from the ground to the cloud cover of a supercell storm. No matter how large it is, if it doesn't touch both of those at the same time, it is a dust devil

actually for those who want to know...a waterspout is a tornado who comes in contact with a sea, lake, large river, or ocean....A waterspout is not as deadly as even a dust devil...they appear out of no where...waterspouts slow down to at most 50 MPH...iv had winds at my house of up to 64MPH without any kind of storm at all...and waterspouts suck up fish and toss them out of the water they are in...lol one time i read it rained fish for like 5 mins in 1 city hit by a waterspout somewhere america
