@bigbaddawn-I hear ya, We have an old wood/cole cook stove that belonged to my grandmother that helped heat her house years ago. We lost power for 3 days to storm damage and had to use it. I ate many of good Thanksgiving dinners she cooked on it as a kid when she would run out of room on her electric. I had to have it after she passed, When I tore it down to move to my house I went ahead and relined the firebox and used all new stove pipe. Bring it on were ready for anything!!
Isn't it funny how 20% of all food in supermarkets get thrown out due to being spoiled, yet there's millions of people struggling just to find food to eat... jesus... I wouldn't be surprised if the world goes on a riot
I can just imagine people here in the US going nuts in grocery stores when it really hits hear. Humans have been at the top of the food chain since the dawn of time. Thats why my deep freeze is packed full of white tail, wild bore and small game. Plus the wife has a whole surplus of stuff in the basement she's canned from the garden over the years. It requires a little more work than "running" to the store, but it's definitely cost effective. I'm not worried.

We went through a month no power here a couple years ago due to the ice storm, had a great meal every night cooked on the woodburner and had fun memories with the neighbors to boot..it wasn't the end of the world here:)!

Made the decision in May 2011 to planet a heirloom organic garden in our yard, first attempt got over 1,400 lbs of food, 1,100 lbs frozen.
First time, never grew food in my life....

@concen I think his point is people have been saying this for going on 2 years now. Each time they say within a few months, and yet we have watched those few months come and go numerous times with no significant change. In your description you say "experts" claim "we may have until July before complete collapse." It is now 6 months and 6 days past that date. Yet no serious change. I do believe the dollar will collapse sometime in the near future. I don't believe it will be as bad as people say.

But this video just goes on and on about food prices going up. Let's say the main resource for food is destroyed by a tornado. That doesn't mean the economic system is bad, it just means that there's less food which means higher prices.

But what I was getting at is: Food prices are going up because of oil, right? Had we been sensible, we would have done the best we could in order to cut our dependence on oil and we would've moved to alternative energy sources...BUT in a system where profit dictates decisions, there is really no profit in making energy free..so we keep using oil cause it's profitable.. Who cares agricultural machines run on oil? Go plastics! :)

My elderly neighbor shared his great distress, just received a “Notice” from his food stamps office:
“11-APR-2011 Each year, the federal government makes a cost-of-living adjustment (COLA) which changes your Supplemental Nutrition Assistance (SNAP, formerly Food Stamp) benefits. This year the cost of living went down.… “ (!!!... yes, you read that correctly) , and “because of this”, his monthly benefit is cut by 22%.
So, the US gov is doctoring statistics to rob the poorest.
