I am not expecting this extreme, but I have 9 acres of land anyhow. While gold and silver are good for bartering, land hedges against hyperinflation of foods & energy.
a)you can farm the land, and/or keep livestock. Chickens and fish are easy to maintain and cost virtually nothing once you can breed your own.
b)solar panels can be used to, at least, significantly decrease the amount of energy you buy.
c)if you can't farm, you can rent and require a percentage of crops/livestock (sharecropper)

I agree with the whole seeds thing, butif fertilized soil is gone, then how do we replace it or find it after agriculture goes down? Used to be done using "slash and burn" techniques. Basically, farm sections, while letting other sections grow with weeds trees, etc. Every 3 or 4 years, burn section and burn vegetation provides fertile soil.

FDR issued executive order 6102 seizing the gold private citizens owned, and it was never struck down in the courts. I am not expecting this extreme, but I have 9 acres of land anyhow. While gold and silver are good for bartering, land hedges against hyperinflation of foods & energy.
a)you can farm the land, and/or keep livestock. Chickens and fish are easy to maintain and cost virtually nothing once you can breed your own.
b)solar panels can be used to, at least, significantly decrease the amount of energy you buy.
c)if you can't farm, you can rent and require a percentage of crops/livestock (sharecropper)

Used to be done using "slash and burn" techniques. Basically, farm sections, while letting other sections grow with weeds trees, etc. Every 3 or 4 years, burn section and burn vegetation provides fertile soil.
See wikipedia for more info.
Obviously, this requires large amounts of land (at least enough for 2 distinct sections).
Fertility isn't a static commodity. Land has been farmed throughout history without using up fertile land. The "fertile crescent" was yearly

Forget seeds and silver and gold. You cannot eat silver and gold and seeds require time, good weather, proper fertilizer, lots of water and knowledge of good farming techniques to create food in any quantity/quality. You need to buy a quality water filter and water storage system as well as freeze dried foods and a camp type cook stove.

The best chips available are more or less a debit card, you can scan it for simple information there is no powersource in it so it cant actually be tracked or download anytype of biometrics. the device you are describing would have to be the size of a cell phone. and why would you inject that into your skin when you just carry it everywhere anyway.

FDR issued executive order 6102 seizing the gold private citizens owned, and it was never struck down in the courts. It scares me to think what people on food stamps will do, people critically ill in hospitals...when infrastructure falls apart. I really think it might be a good idea to go live in another country. Of course, everyone will be thinking that and other countries will have to shut down their borders to keep americans from getting in.

Your analogy is based on an actual event of environmental impact. To be more concise and elucidate what really is going on. Well it's real simple put to you like this - if a big business sees an opportunity to buy some smaller business(es) that are failing - they will either merge or but them and their inventory out and consolidate them into their own operations. As they way matters are shaping out - China is in the driver's seat to have that opportunity with the US if they can avoid inflation.

it is because it is an actual item. a dollar means nothing. what is a dollar? what can you buy with a dollar? It is a piece of cotton fabric/paper, nothing more. Gold is an actual item. It has been used around the world many millennium over. Even if the American dollar becomes as worthless as a grain of sand(or even more worthless?), you can take gold to any country and it WILL be worth something. Take a look at the value of it too. It would have been a good investment.
