  • I was expecting a docu about the Day of the Dead, not a band promotion.

  • Hispanic reffers to everyone of LATIN AMERICA, mexicans, hondurans, salvadorians, guatemalans, argentinians, venezuelans, brazilians, puerto ricans... ARE HISPANICS!

  • Mexican are from Spain dingos. Therefore Hispanic!

  • SHUT THE F*** UP! Johnny Cash is Mexican?!?!?!?!?!??!?! I did pull something awesome from this video.

  • @TheSlinger208 and they said it couldn't be done.

  • Anyone else watching this because they have an In-Class writing assignment over it? Thumbs up if you bear with me.

  • Wrong about Samhain--The Celtic calander.

I wish people would do their research before making assumptions!

  • Hispanic means Of or relating to Spain or Spanish-speaking Latin America. 2. Of or relating to a Spanish-speaking people or culture. n. 1. A Spanish-speaking person This Holiday is celebrated in parts of Mexico and also in other parts of Guatemala and Honduras as they are descendents of Aztecs and Mayans.

  • LATINO O LATINAS SON LAS PERSONAS DESCENDIENTES DE LOS ESPANOLES.OTROS LATINOS SON PORTUGESES E ITALIANOS.LOS SURAMERICANOS SOYS LATINOS POR LOS ESPANOLES Y PORTUGESES EN ESTE CASO SERIA BRASIL.Los franceses no son latinos.Estudiar no ocupa espacio.El idioma latino no esiste!....Castellano,portuges,italiano.rumano y frances son lenguas hijas del latin.Entonces vosotros practicais el castellano con todos sus acentos.

  • This is offensive appropriation of a cultural holiday. Hispanic is an ethnicity and it means that you are a descent of Spain. Not everyone that celebrates this holiday is of Spanish decent. Also Hispanic is a term that labels a people based on their conquerors.

  • Dia Los Muertos! :)

Prayers for the dead are important on this occassion.

  • agreed about the "hispanic" categorization. Totally Mexican. I can overlook it & correct it for my students....

  • exelente documental los felicito grasias por subir algo asi

  • It is a hispanic holiday. Many countries through out Latin America celebrate this day. Hispanic means spanish speaking, Latin can mean latin based languages or people from Latin America.

  • Completely agree, Hispanic is just someone who speaks spanish, Latin is similar to hispanic except that in includes anyone who speaks a latin based language like French. If anything it is a Mesoamerican or Indigenous celebration because even the pueblo from New Mexico celebrate it and to the south it is also celebrated in Guatemala and El salvador, because those countries are also Mesoamerican in culture.

  • It can't possibly be only a Mexican tradition when it's celebrated to a different extent throughout central and south America!

  • such a lovely film i am learning a lot about el dia de los muertos and this video is very informative! thank you!

  • To all the dumbasses who said the people didn't read the summary, well there it is.. Blame YOUTUBE you asshats.

  • Day of the Dead (El Dia de los Muertos)

    Watch Now

An unexplained viral outbreak returns to haunt those who had covered up the bizarre incident in this in-name-only sequel to George A. Romero's downbeat zombie classic Day of the Dead. When a deadly virus befalls the patients of a Pennsylvania military hospital in 1968, the government attempts to erase all evidence of the deadly plague by destroying the patients and cremating everyone who has been exposed. As years pass and the former ....

  • Where the fuck are all the zombies?!

  • me encanta esta época AMO ESTA TRADICIÓN .....

  • The word "altar" is used frequently by the narrator in this doc, however it was brought to my attention that the historical term is actually ofrenda(s).

  • Clearly, this and simular events around the world at this time of the year have grown from an original. Most notable is the end of harvesting for what one has sown, or to mark the END.

Festival of the Dead (Parentalia), celebrating the contribution of the once living or a way of remembering the souls held in purgatory: earmarked by Halloween, All Saints and All Souls' Day. Aztecs being notorious for their ritual killings, to please the gods for next years harvest.

  • Others to wart off evil the day before holy day. Introduced to this area twenty years after the Spanish conquest of Mexico by Charles V, the Holy Roman Emperor and King of Spain. Some Christians find it incompatible with their faith, believing it to have originated as a pagan Festival. In all has turned into a fun event for children, holding events in their churches where children and their parents can dress up, play games, and get candy for free.

  • what's the song at 7:17?

  • Sort of interesting for sure, but the film is really about the performance and background of the band more so then the El Dia de los Muertos.

  • Does anyone know whats the name of the song @ 44:28 ????????????

  • lmao @ the dumb asses mistaking this video for Romero's film... next time read the description

  • @uncleruckus714 The description says this is Romero's film...

  • @gudbar No

  • wtf whos idea was this

  • Bad Bad Bad

  • This isnt Romeros zombie classic????

  • its not HISPANIC is MEXICAN...."HISPANIC" means from spain "LATIN" means from portugal.....SO ITS MEXICAANNNN..........

  • @mellyvel1 HISPANIS MEANS SPANISH SPEAKEAR IDIOT

  • @Applerizi you are the idiot if you tell that to someone from spain they say thats true you ignorant just can use that for spain people, the american people change the meaning cuz they didnt have a word to define all the latin american people...........IGNORANT

  • @Applerizi WTF R U TALKIN ABOUT?? U SAID HISPANIC MEANS FROM SPAIN? THATS WORNG HISPANIC MEANS THAT YOU speak spanish long time ago hispanic meant HISPANIOLA LAND OF THE SPANISH LANGUAGE

  • Where are my fucking zombies?

  • @MazxtheXVII wtf man this is about honoring the dean not some fucking zombies read the detail man!!!!

  • thanks for posting this film. music was beautiful.

  • wrong info by the narator its not an hispanic holiday its a mexican holiday....

  • @toltecatl4u is a prehispanic holiday

  • @andarmir but we still do it, so it is a mexican holiday even if it started before the spanish came :)

  • @toltecatl4u well not only mexico celebrates this its an aztec thing so there are parts of guatemala that also celebrate this i'm guatemalan so i know.

  • @PhantomGirlsparrow there were no aztecs in guatemala, aztecs are from central mexico. in guatemala there were only mayans.

  • @PhantomGirlsparrow Guatemala used to be Mexico

  • @toltecatl4u It is actually an Aztec holiday...

  • @toltecatl4u ... The narrator is right... Is a Hispanic holiday (All Hispanic countries follow(ed) the Catholic traditional calendar placing Nov 1st as day of the Saints and Nov 2nd as day of the Dead), But this specific known execution of the holiday is Mexican indeed.

  • @toltecatl4u yup there no such thing as hispanic

  • Comment removed

  • @toltecatl4u Dia De Los Muertos was moved to the Catholic All Saints Day by the Conquistadors and it has remained there with some Catholic traditions ever since. So they "Hispanicised" it. I know it goes back to the Aztecs and their celebration of the goddess Mictecacihuatl, the Queen of the Underworld in their belief. It's a great holiday and I wish we did things like this for Memorial Day here in the E.E.U.U.

  • It is totally correct! not hipanic. I take it a little too personal when my people are called hispanic, a government term that does not apply to all of us who come from Spanish speaking countries. We are Mexicas, Mexicanos, the children of the sun, a rich cultural heritage, a proud indigenous people, the culture of our choosing, because we refuse to be anything else, because it feels so good to be Mexican!

  • @rivasefrain1980 Mexicans kick ass!

  • @toltecatl4u Same ignorant fucks that calling someone Spanish is the same as calling them Mexican, yup.

  • 0:00:01 click skip add thumbs if you like

  • good video but they got it wrong Halloween is samhain the Celtic new year . the "goulie and golins" as they put it were added later .it is celebration of the end of the year harvest and the beginning of the new year a time where they believed the spirits were closest to us. my children are mixed mexican and Irish so we appreciate both cultures

  • this is some boring shit

  • wdf is this

  • Couldn't get past the intro.

  • Great video! I'd highly recommend everyone check out the Day of the Dead festivities which take place at the San Juan Capistrano Library every fall!

  • I do have a correction though. Halloween comes from Samhain which is indeed pagan; however, they don't celebrate goblins and gouls, it's a celebration of the second harvest and the new year where the veil between the living and the dead is the thinnest.

  • This is so cool. I'm American, but here lately I've noticed that our stores are carrying day of the dead decorations (or at least they look more like they're themed that way, rather than just halloween) anyway, I've tried to incorporate it into our celebration for my son to appreciate both... only I really am the blind leading the blind on this one. Thanks for this post :) It's cool!!

  • actually those arent the only food for the dead. they usually serve the dead people their favorite food when they were alive. cuz thats what my fa,ily does, we put foor that our loved ones likes, and there always has to be tequila, and something that represents them like a hat or a picture next to the food. :)

  • It was an okay documentary, but I feel like I just watched a documentary about the band, not the day of the dead. Oh well.

  • i respect all the cultures in the world man.........i like this movie about history....

  • day of the dead is not a hispanic celebrecion, is mexican celebracion

  • the term Hispanic only exists in the United States, nowhere else in the world. the term doesn't apply to people from Latin American countries so Latinos are not necessarily Hispanic... but we consider our self Hispanic... and im Mexican.

  • We Have plenty of culture!

  • We Americans have a wonderful culture that we are very proud of. Now don't forget that!

  • @KeVlarTheMighty

Dude Easter is when we celebrate a zombie rising from the dead

  • i wonder why the people who thought this was a zombie movie even bothered to complain that it wasn't :s.... where they expecting Romero's movie to magically pop up right after?

FYI: for the racist fans of the zombie movie, putting down this DOCUMENTARY and the chance to learn about a culture, Romero's part cuban.

  • you're white to miss brock don't forget that.

  • so Mexicans do use conga drums in their bands. george lopez you're a damn liar. lolol

  • these are mexican americans. from usa. mexicans from mexico dont.

  • i'm proud of being mexican to have a beatiful culture ..not like other assholes who doesn't even have culture and leave their fucking stupid comments telling that this is a horror movie or talking shit they should have some respect and if they don't like my culture then dont comment on this video ..and if you leave a bad comment do me a favor GO fuck yourself

  • the zombie movie day of the dead was bad anyways XD

  • cool i been to these festivals every year to learn about it and interact i love it

  • Thank you very much by the video.Mexico is great. xD

feliz dia de los muertos a todo el mundo......

  • This is beautiful, thanks for sharing. A wonderful exploration of the celebration (not Horror movie, LOL) El Dia de Los Muertos. Please show some respect for the Cultures of others...... We can learn form each other.

  • @whitegingerflower shut up, damn hippie

  • @chessinfantry you shut up, damn retard

  • @Smoug pussy

  • @chessinfantry pendejo.

  • you guys with negative comments need to learn to fucking read!!!!!

  • As much as I love zombie movies, I would like to clarify a couple of things based on what I have read in some of these comments: 1) George A. Romero, Romero is a hispanic name. 2) Romero got the name for his totally-awesome-hands-down-best-zombie-flick-EVER from the renown Mexican holiday. And that's all. I've said my peace and now I will consume many, many Cheetos.

  • I like this very good video

  • What beautiful cultural movie! I'm half Cuban and African- American. I remember growing- up and celebrating my ancestors with all of the food and parties!! Lots of fun! I love the day of the dead:>)

  • cubans celebrate this to?

  • @christianz2010 no they dont

  • Thank you for this movie. =)

  • FUCK!!!! my bad i thought this was a zombie movie.

  • OMG! i'm pissed...

  • Damn. I was tricked. No zombies.

  • UMMMMMMMMM.....W.T.F IS DIS?????

  • We're all under the false impression that this was George A. Romero's Day of the Dead.

Trust me, I'm just as disappointed and irritated that it's a documentary and not a gruesome zombie flick.

Youtube needs to learn to specify.

  • it's kind of funny how the title played with our expectations - could this documentry be more cheesy. At least give us some video.

  • "I am half mexican"

    lololololololol

    Why aren't you a zombie?

  • I thought I was going to get the original day of the dead :S

    wtf

  • Don't you kids mean "Dawn of the Dead"? If you were a bit more educated, you'd know that Day of the Dead is a HOLIDAY, not a stupid movie.

  • this is bull fuck i want zombies not Mexico This should be changed to The wrost fuckin movie ever!!

  • Learn how to read the description people!

  • for everyone who expected this to be a horror movie stop being so fucking ignorant. the day of the dead was a tradition in mexico before anyone was even clever enough to use it as a name for some lame movie about zombies.

plus this was under documentaries so either you're illiterate or just plain stupid.

  • where r the zombies

  • DAMN YOU ADDS!!!!!!

  • man i thought this was Romero's Day Of The Dead. Can't they show any movies that I've even heard of!!?

  • fucking idiots... It's under DOCUMENTARIES. you really didnt think it was about the horror flick? it wouldnt hurt some of you assholes to learn a little something about other cultures.

READ THE FUCKING DESCRIPTION ON THE RIGHT HAND SIDE.

  • Screw Mexico, we need to build a version of the Berlin Wall before it is the Day of the Day around here. I want my George A Romero movie with Rhodes, Frankenstein, Miguel

  • @jakefree25 poor little racist. so sad how ignorant you can get

  • what a bunch of shit..... who cares about this crap... i wanted to see some zombies....

  • Wheres the zombies!!?

  • First there was "Night of the Living Dead" then "Dawn of the Dead" and now the darkest day of horror the world has ever known...

    Oh wait, nevermind.

  • meh i thought this was one of the living dead movies from the same name lol.

  • Do you dumb, bastards know you're in the Documentary section?

  • People should be tolerant towards other cultures. It's not just Mexico that celebrates Day of the Dead.

The U.S. is a culture-less country that lacks originality as far as culture goes, which I believe is why so many U.S. Americans get weird when they are introduced to something different. The only big thing that the U.S. claims is probably McDonalds.

I reside in California, but I'm not blind to this. That's why so many countries hate us, we deserve it. Stop living in a cave and see the world.

  • @1967RZK congratulations, is great to see there are some people there in your country that understand the problem and do not want to participate in the xenophobic nonsense. you make me feel ashamed of hating your country, i know not everyone is dumb

  • do they have any actually interesting movies??

i thought this was a scary zombie flic

    ugh!!

  • very good.

  • This celebrations can be traced back to indigenous Olmec, Zapotec, Mixtec, Aztec, Maya, P'urhépecha and Totonac indians. Rituals celebrating the deaths of ancestors have been observed by these civilizations perhaps for as long as 2500-3000 years. They sacrificed the gifts to the dead. The festivities were dedicated to the goddess Mictecacihuatl, known as the "Lady of the Dead," This celebration is perhaps the world's oldest event.

  • wtf!!!!!!!

  • Look im trying to find a movie called The Beneidiction, Its about a priest and a devil 4x4 Truck, IT NEEDS TO BE IN FUCKING ENGLISH THOUGH!!!!!!

  • nice altars

  • crazy mexicans..I thought this was the movie.."day of the dead"

  • all these movies suck

  • what the hell is that ?

  • Now that's not a movie right ?

  • I thought this is a zombie movie!!!

  • aw this isnt George Romeros day of the dead <.<

this is the mexicans day of the dead

    still alright though =D

  • well i think its a verry ggod documentaryits nice to see these traditions upheld specialy in this time and age wneh its a dying tradition

  • well as a mexican i find this verry good these traditions have been passed down generation by generation up untill now the tradition is dying out specialy here were i live in tijuana we mostly celebrate more halloween than dia de los muertos its a dying tradition

  • WTF!!! obvious display of stupidity...

imagine how things will be when you see the guy who made this in person.

ummm, maybe blow him up... hehehehehehehehehehehehe.

    he deserves it.

    KABOOM!!!!

you just wasted your life making this flik.

  • Freaking uneducated kids... Learn something. Ignorant people with no sense of the world. What's why the world is the way it is so negative, and uneducated.

  • Regardless of anthing... I think that we should respect other cultures and religions. I don't blame anybody if they find this boring... but COME ON people... this is why our world is all messed up. We need to start respecting each other! And if you go to documentqaries, this is where you will find it, because obviously is not a movie. So no title needed, because it is coming from the "Documentaries" link.

  • Boo... where's the flesh eating zombies and the awesome over-the-top gore?

  • What is the title of this amazing song at 7 minutes in this movie?

  • this blows

  • Damn, like most people who commented here, I thought this was about Zombies. You should put Holiday on the title or something.

  • when i saw the title I got all excited. Then I read the comments looked up at the vid and couldnt become any more 'unhappy'...this sucks! why do things that are free always suck?

  • Oops, I was looking for DAWN of the dead
