just listened to both AI versions and I like Jordin's version. I agree with the fact that haley has more emotion in her version but technically Jordin is flawless where a few of haley's notes didn't sound that great to me. both of them are awesome singers.

A comment brought me here... I love Jordin but, Haley voice is passion and emotion......Haley and Jordin have different styles but, definitely in my humble opinion Haley gave goosebumps to my soul.

@LadyTsun Drama doesn't always mean big gestures or movements...there is absolute drama and feelings in Jordin's performance. First time I watched this performance I could FEEL the goosebumps form as she sang. Don't get me wrong...Haley's performance was great too but to say that her's is better is completely wrong.
haleys was more raw and aggressive... she made you BELIEVE she was that "other woman" as the song portrays. jordin is a wonderful singer, but haley won this performance hands down.
Haley was able to portray the theme of this song better in the end, the hurt and the pain. Jordin just resorted to flashing her diamond earing...and Haley's voice was more suited to this because she has the huskiness. But Jordin still pulled it off, in the end, slow start.
I have to say both sung the song amazing , but Haley gave it more of that fierce edge to it. Don't get me wrong Jordin did win THAT season. But Haley really did deserve to win.

Good job and kudos for being the firts to do it. However, I do think Haley (under the guidance of Gaga) captured the essence of the Shirley Bassy original and even took it further.
I think Jordin did an amazing job vocally on the song. If we are goingt o compare Jordin and Haley, I do think Haley gave us a more emotional connection to the song; however Jordin's vocal was much clearer and more powerful. I like them both.

I like both Jordin's and Haley's versions. I like J's because it seems more intimate and creepier if you will (which totally fits the song). She acts like a timid girl who doesn't know what to do with her situation (in context of the song) and builds up to an AMAZING money note. I feel J took her time, made the progression of the song more passionate. But H's version felt really energetic, more "I'm going to attack you with everything I have." She went nuts. Both are FANTASTIC interpretations!
@PianoMan62249 I like Hailey but to me she sounded and looked a bit too Shirley Bassey karaoke plus she changed the original arrangement which I really didn't like. Jordan was that night brought me to tears. I felt the pain in her voice, saw it in her eyes ,in the way she walked up the mike; I could actually picture her pleading at the window. Till this day it has that effect on me...gloomy indeed!;) This song showed me that Jordan deserved the Title!

I like her version over Haley's. However, it was originally written in Italian for a man singing to a woman, then translated into English. Many have sung it over the years and it would be great to hear another man do it again.

@LadyTsun Drama doesn't always mean big gestures or movements...there is absolute drama and feelings in Jordin's performance. First time I watched this performance I could FEEL the goosebumps form as she sang. Don't get me wrong...Haley's performance was great too but to say that her's is better is completely wrong.

haleys was more raw and aggressive... she made you BELIEVE she was that "other woman" as the song portrays. jordin is a wonderful singer, but haley won this performance hands down.

Haley was able to portray the theme of this song better in the end, the hurt and the pain. Jordin just resorted to flashing her diamond earing...and Haley's voice was more suited to this because she has the huskiness. But Jordin still pulled it off, in the end, slow start.

I liked both, but Jordin's version is cleaner and clearer and her vocals more powerful.
Haley has a very interesting singing style and I do like her very much, but in this instance, the nod goes to Jordin.

I think Jordin did an amazing job vocally on the song. If we are goingt o compare Jordin and Haley, I do think Haley gave us a more emotional connection to the song; however Jordin's vocal was much clearer and more powerful. I like them both.

I like both Jordin's and Haley's versions. I like J's because it seems more intimate and creepier if you will (which totally fits the song). She acts like a timid girl who doesn't know what to do with her situation (in context of the song) and builds up to an AMAZING money note. I feel J took her time, made the progression of the song more passionate. But H's version felt really energetic, more "I'm going to attack you with everything I have." She went nuts. Both are FANTASTIC interpretations!

Jordan was that night brought me to tears. I felt the pain in her voice, saw it in her eyes ,in the way she walked up the mike; I could actually picture her pleading at the window. Till this day it has that effect on me...gloomy indeed!;) This song showed me that Jordan deserved the Title!

@redcr24 I see what you're saying. I actually meant to comment on how J's arrangement was much better. I could have done without the ridiculous additions in H's. It seemed too full for the song (too much going on in the background)...but that is not her fault. I'm sure contestants don't control the arrangement (other than perhaps a key-change, etc) so that's really something we should take up with those who changed the arrangement ;] And yes, J's did show me, too, that she deserved to win! =]

OK, I checked out of Idol for a couple seasons in the middle, including this one. This is the first time I've seen this, and I have to say, it isn't even close to Haley's version. I've give this a 7 out of 10, and haley gets a 9.5

Wasn't even close. Haley by a mile. Haley is able to do things with her voice I don't think any other idol contestant has done.
Jordin is a great singer, but when she sings a note, that's what you hear - that note. Haley has such nuance that you hear more than just that note.
