  • thanks for Youtube, if not I won't be able to "discover" I consider the Best Pilipino Tenor. So far it's only Noel Velasco and Otoniel I consider the greatest of the Pilipino Tenors, I can include Mamerto Villaba. but Otoniel and Velasdo can sing the High C's repertoire, compare to worlds over rated highest paid Tenors. Of the over rated Tenors that was popular, Pavarotti was only one who can sing the high C's. The two other, you can have your money back.

  • If you think it's good on YouTube, you should hear it live at close range. It rattles your soul. What a beautiful voice. Thanks for putting this up!

  • Personally I think the voice is thrilling. Thought I kept up to speed on opera, but somehow have not heard of Gonzaga. Especially like the way he sits firmly on top the notes, from low to high to highest, does not hang below or swoop into the highs as many tenors do. Secure, exciting, beautiful tone to my ear.

  • the final vincero was weak than other versions here in YT . I like this performance nevertheless. Thanks for sharing.

  • Wow, truly an international caliber. I heard him sing Radames from Verdi's Aida in a concert version in New Jersey back in 1986 or 87? and he was definitely a stand out in the cast. Bellissimo!

  • Yep, that's my dad, and he's got mad chops.

  • What a voice! The best Sándor Barinkay I have ever heard! I will never forget the performances with OTONIEL at the Seefestspiele in Morbisch where the mosquito’s were actually flying into our mouth's while we were singing. Conzaga was / is also a wonderful teacher.

  • FILIPINO!!!!!!

  • Decent, but not outstanding. Tends to sound throaty.

  • Superb singing as was a Radames I heard recently that was, "Flawless".

    A Zen Master.

  • Pawelp is an idiot that should learn what great singing is and what it means to sing well. Tony Gonzaga is singing great at an age when most tenors are working in a carwash or attempting to teach their substandard, nonexistent techniques to children. I have heard Tony on the stages of the world for the past 40 years and the vocal growth and technique are enormous, incredible and correct. If his voice were any more "forward"... it would be crushing through the back of the Opera House.

  • i am speechless... bravo mr gonzaga!

  • Bravo,bravo.

  • Perfection! I heard he'll be returning to the Philippines for a concert in October. Cant wait!

  • OMFGOMFGOMFG THATS MY GRAND UNCLE

  • many thanks for putting this up, i've never seen otoniel's performances before here on youtube. i've seen him live in ccp and he was a beast!

  • The passaggio and top goes to the back of the throat and the technique a bit poor imho..this despite that it sounds like a dramatic tenor at core.

  • Now THAT'S a dramatic tenor voice!
