I know you guys can't tell from the vid, but I remember a sousaphone tripping around 2 minutes in. our director showed it to us after the contest, and all 200 band kids just broke out in laughter
I marched this composition my sophomore year of high school, back in 1999 and it was probably one of the most difficult, yet rewarding shows I've ever took part off. If you are fortunate enough to live in a place where marching bands can be appreciated, this is definitely the piece to perform. Props to this band for taking it on!
ummmm no! i think the color guard is amazing they have such high standards and they have an amazing image! i think you guys should be im color guard before talking. and the marching was good but w/o the effects of the color guard it would have never gotten them 15th place so please just dont talk to talk. thanks :]]
It was one of the judges. all the judges had them in the 6-12 place range, except one. He put them really low and it bumped them out of finals by .2 of a point.
The judge that gave them the really low score is also best friends with the drill writer they fired. Ha, funny coincidence huh?
Guard is not that important unless it's BOA. I'm not even sure it counts at SH's contest. But, you can have a moderate guard and still finish in the upper eschelon anywhere but Arlington or S.A.
Whoa! This show is alot like our UIL band show. Check it out...its on my profile. We have Gloriosa as our first and 3rd movement.

Thats true. The CG at this school is very good.
But they still had alot of timing issues in the beggining of this video, that doesnt mean they have "low" standards.
Im sure they were all fixed by BOA SA.
Um, and i know many year ago this band program had an AWFUL colorguard (it has made leaps and bounds in the past few years!)
And even when this school had an awful CG, it was still able to place high in competition.

if the guard had better timing they would've prolly had a better place like 14th or 13th :]

It wasnt the guards fault they got 15th.

its sure doesn't Cypress Falls won best Drum Major, Percussion, AND guard award that night and they came in 3rd.
CFadrian10 4 years ago
Noo, it was not the color guards fault
their book was one of the hardest in all of boa
xcute17x 3 years ago
Agreed.
Good thing the marching/playing makes up for it. :)
AWESOME sound! And geez, almost every entrance is pick-up notes, those are extremley difficult.
excellent job!
