i am using cyberduck and was able to make the sms text tone and moved it alright it seems but when i click on the text tone in my phone to choose it there is nothing but silence. the old tone is gone but nothings there. i have restarted my phone but that didnt help either. any suggestions?

The 4.2 update is going to have new sms tones added but they seem to be horrible still. Who knows they ,may make it easy enough to make your own sms tones like they have with ringtones. I guess we will have to wait and see.

It really isn't as long or hard a process as it's made out to be. If you already have the file, it shouldn't take you longer than 30-seconds, which is about the same amount of time it takes to download a standard ringtone.

Most of us purchased an iPhone after having a phone with ringtones we wanted, and are unwilling to settle on default sounds. That's like giving you all the money in the world, and telling you you can't buy anything with it. "just deal with wat u got", indeed.

Make sure the tone has a check next to it, in Winterboard. Make sure the phone resprings. If you're done this already, try rebooting your phone.
