Of course asking whether he's a socialist is an honest question, though the intelligent aren't simply going to take his word for it or rely on people who have decided to change the meaning of the word or obfuscate using inane comparisons to public roads, police depts, etc.

You can easily say pensions (712b), health care (724b), education (100b), Defense (819b), welfare (283b), domestic protection (51b) and public transportation (83b) are all socialist (if you believe nationalizing banks or universal health insurance are socialist).
The question is whether or not you want an anarchist completely capitalist State or if you realize that some government requires "socialist" policies.

yes he did. Google bailout and roll call, BOTH Obama and McCain voted for the bailout. There was nothing on the menu for the election.

Exactly! In fact, Obama used TARP support as leverage for his election at the time. McCain, rather than roll the dice w/ whether or not TARP would be a success, followed suit. McCain couldve grabbed a pair and run as though he belonged to the Republican Party for which he stood rather than some push-over independent. His true
