if im useing the spells tht i wrote my self i do more free form whilst when i do spells from books that i have bought or some spells i find online like off of spells of magic.com which is pritymuch a free online spellbook where u can find spells and post ur own spells aswell as an online "craft" store (as in witchcraft) then ill plain it out therally but generally both work equally and extreamly well

Great video! One thing I learned (through reading and my own personal experience) with power words. I found that the more intensity or "emotion" or energy you put into actually saying the words can affect a lot. And try to speak in a way that almost vibrates through your whole body. Kind of the same intensity you have when Dad gets home from work and sees your report card, lol.  But, as Pixie has been drilling into our heads. It all just depends on you! =.)

@Bastet674 really and truly, all you *really* need is your mind. Ask your deity to be present. Imagine yourself surrounded by protective light. Just sit & chill (ground and center), meditate without thinking of anything. Then you imagine what you want, really see yourself having it & feeling the happiness in having it, and say "I want ___" and be specific. Say it 3x and continue to see yourself having this item. Thank your deity, and go about your day. You can do this 1x a day.

That's all one *really* needs, is your imagination, your intent, and your determination. If you really want it bad enough, the universe will help you attain it. Even if it's a personal quality like patience, a job, a car, a boyfriend, anything.

To be specific on your desire, describe in detail what you want - and don't say what you DON'T want. Only the wanted bits.

Free formed.  BUT I find that if I do magic and then go back to find out about what phase of the moon, types of spells you "should" do etc etc etc that I am more in line naturally then I would even think. this is probably the same for everyone and is reassuring. I feel that we must trust our intuition - it is to be trusted. :)

As to your planned spells, which planetary hours/days were you working with? Some people work better with one planetary energy than with others (I think it has a lot to do with out birth charts) so maybe that's why some of your planned ones fell flat. I actually work really well with the planetary hours/days, but I still do stuff on the fly as well. To each their own, but I always insist that every witch should know how to improvise.

Free Form spells always worked nicely for me, as long as I feel it is the right time to do that particular spell, it has been a success. Though when it comes to spells to bring change, I usually do those at the new moon and for protection and other things I do at the full moon.

well.. I did a spell to bring good luck prosperity and to bring money i used 4 green candles and rubbed them with olive oil mixed with mint andddd in the beginning i believed in the spell and didnt see much results but... after i had my doubts and suddenly i just believed in the spell because i was thinking the longer it takes to manifest the more powerful it'll be. I'm just starting out on my path (which I'm still working on piecing together), so I don't really know traditional stuff. If I need some kind of spell for something or other, I usually just look it up on the internet, take that, and mold it to what feels right for me. But other than planning ritual for Sabbats (which, I've only done one so far) and Esbats, I usually just pay attention to the Moon phase and go from there.

for me, free form spells work significantly more than any of the ones i do extensive planning for. to me, its about what the spell means to you and how much power you can manifest with the specific intention, so for me making sure the planets, day, color, insence, etc are just right, draws energy away from the work.

Also - my style is definitely free form. I find that any style of spells that require you to wait until the next thursday when the moon is gibbous and the wart on your backside is pointing upwards..... etc.... just causes any spell to lose all its energy.

and for me, free form is so much easier. magic shouldn't have to be so strict and rigid that one needs to keep to a certain day or phase of the moon to perform their spell. but hey, to each his own. :)

I am new to the craft, so most of my stuff is free form. I have noticed though, the few ones I've done that were planned haven't worked as well as the free form ones. One of my first practices I did was free form and the spell actually completed a week or two after. It was amazing! Just like you say Flora, whatever rings true to you and that's what free form is to me.

A few times already I do spells and ritual according to what I feel. I then find out later that in my busy schedule I did not realize it was going to be a New or Full Moon and I just happened to perform my rituals on those days. But I've found the free form (and or emotion based) tends to work best.

I've had great success in both planned and free form spells. I find the idea of planned spells highly romantic, but sometimes when it's time to cast the planned spell it lacks the passion of an impromptu spell.

I'm learning to let myself do whatever I feel the urge to do (that keeps with the Harm None law) when it comes to attuning to magic and spirituality. Even if it doesn't make sense to me logically, even if there's no "reason" but to let that energy flow. This is my best magic.

I have found with Free Form spells the timing is actually right on. Maybe mroe than you even know. Not just in the timing for yourself being in the "zone" but actually the planets will be in the right place too. I have planned spells although there are times when I can't wait for the timing because it is ready to come out of me and my intuition says the time is NOW!! LOL. I do think that Words of power are great as well.Coming up with a little cuplet that can be used ANY time is a great idea BB.

I was plan my spells. A spell mustn't be taken lightly, because you're dealing with energies that can help as well as harm. I find it better to plan everything and focus so I don't ramble and mix words, etc.

i use both. For short term self empowerment or improvement i much prefer free form because you need that now not later. For tool empowerment or a long term personal development i much prefer planned executions.Except for meditation which is a daily planned execution which is my drug of choice for lack of better words..lol. I find personally that when I do a Spell, the few that I've done, free form is the most natural. It's good to plan the basic structure, but Magic in my view is the Chaos that we impose on the scientific order; It's free, wild, instinctive. So while it is good to have a basic planned structure, it's also important to follow your instincts... Like you said, find what works for you....

I know I should, but I don't worry so much about planet alignment. I feel like there are so many other things to consider that it ends up jsut being too many things. I do sometimes consider the moon phase depending on the spell. In order to counteract any planets that may not be aligned correctly for what I need I use a protection potion and a phrase to protect me from any Universal forces that may interfere.

I completely plan my spell as far as when, what oils, stones, candles and other props I will use. However, if my full concentration and intention is not focused on, I don't get the results. I totally agree regarding using what you feel is most correct. I'm relatively new to spell work so I do feel most comfortable using spells from books at this point.

It is good to know where the written spells came from, the history, the flavor, yet, if there is that idea to adapt it for you and your situation, your means of speech, your mental picture of what is going on, do it! Free form! When I was convalescing from my operation, I was able to walk outside the building for a time. I did a few rituals on the fly, including two full mooners. When you put purpose, or your will behind it, and using what is at hand (shamanist trait), watch and see! Scott Cunningham said his books were GUIDES, not manuals! You are the magick, remember that!

I think whether it's planned or whether it's spontaneous, the more *self-preparation* I do, the better.

Say, if I'm using a spell gotten out of a book, (which I'm still kind of at that level.) If I just read out the spell, I pretty much know I'm not going to get any results. But if I do a little meditation prior to it, and some grounding and centering, and put *my* intention into it, I have gotten results that way.

i have had prettymuch the same expirience with both planned & freeform. in the moment spells carry with them the intensity of the emotion fueling them, but with the planned ones, the working up of the intent helped out with fueling the outcome. one of my planned spells still amazes me at its success and power! i also believe that if you come to a block using "correct" coorispondence , do and use what you feel is right, because if you don't you will ultimately fail, all you need is to believe it!

I have something that i say when i light candles and incense for a spell or ritual, something I've made up on my own, something i feel comfortable with. I don't feel comfortable using words created by someone else. I feel the energy is higher when they come from you.

I think the only doubt that I have within myself with spells is "did I do that right?" I know that there is no right or wrong, but it's still something i feel.
