my friend once asked me "whats the point of paintball?" i replied by saying whats the point of any sport? every sport is the same regardless of its popularity. there are rules, goals, fouls, winners and losers. the end result is always the same, you gain experience, you learn, you have fun and you do it because its what you enjoy doing and its a part of who you are. people like this commentator and anyone who puts down any sport for any reason is just mad at the fact that they suck at sports.
it can't be an olympic sprot because, the players cant have mechanics doing the work for htem. however this didn't stop speedboat racing for being an official sport for 4 years. But the only real reason paintball can't be a sport is because.... 1. the sport has to be played world-wide, (on a grand scale). and 2. it real only has to be aproved by officials to become one. :(
Producers and commentator of that show are a buch of assholes. Either way, I did it for over 20 years and seen it evolve. I still play and have had my success. Best damn time of my life and takes an athelete to play.

@HostileChild Actually table tennis is a sport, and unlike paintball can take years to become proficient at. You see professional paintballers who have only been playing for 3 years, but you will not ever see that with table tennis players. Many have spent decades to get to the Olympic level.
@BushyX i would love to hear you name 5 proffessional paintball players that play in the top 3 teams that have been playing for less than 5-10 years. even though they may have only been playing competitively for 3 years they have been rec players sense they were 10? and besides the fact that many people in many proffessional divisions are exactly the same way? where will ping pong take you in life? the same place pro paintball will. troll harder bitch.
The problem is that most people do not see paintball as a sport. They see people playing speedball and think that it's some sort of weird scenario game, like the guy in this video, when in reality, scenario paintball and speedball are two very different games, both in terms of their rules and in terms of the attitudes of the players. Having experienced both, I think scenario players tend to see their games more like a real life video game, whereas speedball players see their games as a sport.

@ddkk1000 Um, I like watching it. I think paintball is the only sport that is actually fun to watch. Maybe because it's the only one I'm good at. But I get an adrenaline rush when some plays are freaking close. Like in the PSP Chicago finals: Dynasty and Boston Red Legion, when Legion ran the flag in to get the tying point and then won the game. When the Legion guy grabbed the flag and ran it in my adrenaline could have been just as high as his. I love paintball. Playing it and watching it.

@ddkk1000 Um, I like watching it. I think paintball is the only sport that is actually fun to watch. Maybe because it's the only one I'm good at. But I get an adrenaline rush when some plays are freaking close. Like in the PSP Chicago finals: Dynasty and Boston Red Legion, when Legion ran the flag in to get the tying point and then won the game. When the Legion guy grabbed the flag and ran it in my adrenaline could have been just as high as his. I love paintball. Playing it and watching it.

I feel like I'm a bit late on the thread but this is some serious BS. What is soccer or football other than single flag CTF? Paintball changed my life and got me through some hard times.While people who feel that way about other sports LIKE football, soccer, gymnastics, track, or baseball love their sports they wont even acknowledge that paintball is a sport in my experience. What the hell? Seriously paintball teams work just as hard as anyone else. Why can't we get the same level of respect?

@357Repeater In one of my classes at schools some guys asked the football coach if PB was a sport and he thought for a few seconds and said no and some of the students were asking him why. It should easily be a considered a sport by the mainstream for sure it's so damn competitive and they have to make so many decisions in such a short time. If PB costed less it probably would get picked up even faster cause I have to spend my paychecks just to keep playing it. How is curling in the Olympics?
